Cardigans
Grandma's comfy cardigan looked adorably oversized on you when you were 3! Now that you're older, you can rock that cardigan with chic style. Throw a maxi cardigan over a sundress for a put-together look, or use a floral kimono-style cardigan as a beach coverup.
Thick-Rimmed Glasses
Stealing grandma's glasses is a childhood past time, but now you can have a pair of your own! Rock your thick-rimmed glasses with a white, collared shirt and a red lip. On the other hand, keep it simple with a shift dress and a cardigan.
Socks and Shoes
Grandmas always know how to make you comfortable, and what is more comfortable than being able to wear socks with your stilettos and still look fashionable? Try to stick to neutral socks if you're planning to rock this trend.
Loafers
Who remembers grandma's bland, old loafers she wore way too much? Well, they're getting a makeover! Choose a pair of loafers in a fun print, such as leopard, stripes, or herringbone. This will add some visual interest to your outfits.
Midi Skirts
Grandmas can be pretty conservative when it comes to skirt length, but the age of mini-skirts is over! Now you can please your grandma and look fashionable at the same time. Opt for a full midi skirt paired with a tucked-in, button-down shirt for work.
Crochet Knits
You probably tossed out most of those crochet sweaters that your grandma gave you as a kid, but you’re going to wish you didn’t. Crochet cardigans, dresses, and even swimsuits are making a splash this year! Pair your favorite crochet piece with something a little edgier to keep your outfit from looking too dated.
Brooches
Rummaging through a box of grandma's shiny, yet expensive brooches may have gotten you in trouble as a kid, but at least it won't get you arrested by the fashion police anymore. Wear your brooch with a solid-colored sweater, shirt, or dress. Keep the rest of your accessories minimal so that your gorgeous brooch stands out!
Handkerchief Scarves
I'm betting some of your grandma's old scarves are real silk, so you may want to borrow a few. They're sophisticated, lightweight, and can be worn year-round. Pair a handkerchief scarf with a high-necked top, round sunglasses, and cropped jeans to look effortlessly cool.
Satchel Handbag
Your grandma likely depends on her structured, satchel handbag to carry around her essentials, and you should too. For once you'll be able to transport more than just a tube of lipstick! Use your satchel bag when you’re wearing dainty outfits, such as a skirt and tee.
Gray Hair
Grandmas love hair salons almost as much as they hate gray hair, but young women are embracing this look with artificial dye. If you decide to go gray, use bold lipstick and dark eye makeup to add contrast.
Tweed
Tweed is back in style. To avoid looking rigid and dated, aim for earthy colors such as brown, gray, and green. They’re classic, timeless colors that make you look polished without too much effort.
Pearls
Grandmas and pearls go together like peanut butter and jelly. Hopefully, you kept some of those family heirlooms! Full pearl necklaces go great whether you’re wearing casual or upscale. You can also wear a single pearl earring if you want something more minimalistic.
Fur-Trimmed Coats
Our grandmas needed fur coats as a necessity to stay warm, but now we wear it for style. Naturally, people are choosing faux fur coats instead of the real stuff due to ethics. Many of the high-end designers are also going fur-free, so there are tons of style choices in upscale cuts.
Glasses Chains
Glasses chains were a must-have for our grandmas, and now, we get to embrace the convenience as well. The chains nowadays aren’t as stuffy as the ones our grandmas wore, thankfully.
Lockets
Chunky Jewelry
Normally, chunky jewelry would be a major faux pas because it’s a grandma thing. Now, we’re realizing how great it is. You can wear it with something casual or get something super upscale for a luxurious look.
Block Heels
Ah, block heels – so chunky but oh so comfortable. They’re a lot better than stilettos, that’s for sure. It isn’t like you can trip wearing block heels…unless you’re super clumsy. Block heels can go with jeans or a cute sundress!
Large, Round Glasses
Whether glasses or sunglasses, big sunglasses are back in. Not only are they in, but the round ones have returned! This retro look helps keep the sun out of our eyes and looks a lot better than the micro sunglasses that were trending not long ago.
Florals
Chintzy florals were once the bane of existence. While it hasn’t bled over into the décor scene just yet, florals are highly sought after now. The best way to wear this trend is a dress, but some brave fashionistas go for full floral coats.
Fanny Packs
The name may be ridiculous, but there’s nothing dumb about having everything you need on you. Fanny packs are easier than a purse, and you don’t have to worry about where to put it. The upgraded versions are also pretty stylish.
Cat Eye Sunglasses
Oversized Coats
Something about oversized clothing is so comfy and cozy. Grandma wore them because it’s all she could afford, but we now know it’s also because they hold in heat while looking great.
Mixed Prints
Mixed prints have been in style for a couple of years, but let’s not forget who sported the trend first. A mixed-print dress is the perfect way to try out this trend with other solid-color accessories.
Drop Crystal Earrings
Checkered Patterns
Most grandmas have a checkered pair of pants, dress, or jacket. Turns out, they knew a thing or two about patterns. We love the checkered pant trend because it looks relaxed yet put together when worn with a solid top, shoes, and handbag.
Vests
We’re not saying only grandmas wear vests – oh, no. Vests have been popular for ages, but not crocheted, knitted, and patched-together vests. They look comfy, cozy, and homey!
Tassels
Tassels, tassels everywhere. Grandmas love tassels, and we gotta admit that they’re fun to play with. Tassels are making their way into fashion, mostly in clothing, but we’ve seen a few earrings. They’re easy to accessorize, depending on the item. We just wouldn’t suggest going to a fancy party with them.
Patched Clothing
Patching clothing was a necessity for our grandmas, but us? We do it for style. We adore the patched look of cardigans and jeans. It gives them a little personality and uniqueness that’s fun to display.
Cushy, Ultra-Comfortable Shoes
Dad shoes were in for a bit, but these? These orthopedic shoes are the bomb. They’re comfortable to wear 24/7, whether you’re going out with friends or a workout.
Pleated Denim
Pleated denim is finally back! It adds a little touch to jeans that only grandmas could formerly rock. Now, paired with other popular jean trends, you have some of the coolest looking pants on the market. Talk about unique!
