The feathery look has already been in for a while, so why not take it a step further by channeling your inner Farrah Fawcett? It may not turn you into a spy overnight, but you'll look as cool as one. We loved this look from the 1970s, and we'd love to see it make a comeback!

Debbie Harry Bottle Blonde

Debbie Harry Bottle Blonde

If you weren't crushing on Debbie Harry in the '70s, you must have been living in a cave. This iconic rock star, also known as Blondie, boasted this Bottle Blonde look that's the perfect look for women who prefer shorter hairstyles. Of course, to achieve this look, it might be best to visit a stylist.

In case you didn't, like Marilyn Monroe, Debbie Harry wasn't naturally blond, hence the term "bottle blonde." But since so many women are dying their hair these days, bleaching is certainly no big deal. Various iconic women have been doing this for nearly a century now, so it's pretty easy to see this one trending again.

Stevie Nicks Hippie Waves

Stevie Nicks Hippie Waves

The beautiful and talented Stevie Nicks has managed to stay relevant long after the '70s, giving us so many iconic songs over the years, and it's about time we showed some appreciation for her by rocking her famous look from her heyday with Fleetwood Mac. The hippie waves style certainly has its place among those living the organic vegan lifestyle.

This free-spirited and bohemian look is characterized by long, flowing waves that exude a more natural, unstructured look. Hippie waves have been embraced by those who reject conventional norms, taking a more relaxed and organic approach. Easy to maintain, you can get ready in no time before you head out the door.

Donna Summer’s Big Curl

Donna Summer’s Big Curl

Donna Summer's Big Curls look may be the way to go if you have the hair for it. The legendary Queen of Disco often showcased voluminous and bouncy curls that perfectly complemented the high-energy and glamorous atmosphere of the disco scene. You, too, can look just as groovy with these voluminous locks.

And with artists like Dua Lipa trending, you even have the perfect dance music to showcase your stunning hairdo. However, we wouldn't quite recommend performing any disco dancing moves unless you really want to make a scene at the club - or risk getting removed from it.  But you do you!

Brigitte Bardot’s Classy Up-Do

Brigitte Bardot’s Classy Up-Do

The iconic French model and actress of the 1960s and '70s sported this stunning look that many tried to emulate. While not everyone may have looked as good, they looked good nonetheless, and this is definitely a hairstyle we could see making a comeback, particularly among those who like to put their hair up.

Sure, you could go with the classic ponytail, but why not go with something more unique and elegant? If you don't want short hair but want your hair out of your face, this look is a lot more fashion-forward. Great for a professional environment or a night out, you'll turn heads with this look, to be sure.

Beverly Johnson Natural Curls

Beverly Johnson Natural Curls

As the first African-American supermodel of the 1970s, it's no surprise the stunning Beverly Johnson set trends with her natural curls. For those with naturally kinky hair, this is a relatively easy look to pull off with minimal maintenance. You can look just as beautiful when you wear this look with confidence.

Beverly Johnson's natural curls framed her face with a distinctive texture that celebrated the beauty of natural, afro-textured hair. And in a time where we are much better at celebrating natural beauty than ever before, this is a look we can see the 21st century getting behind a lot more.

Patti Smith’s Shag

Patti Smith’s Shag

Sport the look that says you're a hot mess and you don't care. Shag haircuts have already been trending, but not many have dared to go the extra mile with this low-maintenance hairstyle. For those with the right face for it, this look boasts attitude and confidence. It will have you looking like a rockstar.

While there are plenty of low-maintenance shag haircuts out there, there are few with the cool factor that Patti Smith embodied with her iconic hairstyle. Does it look like you just got out of bed? Sure. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. We all have to sleep, after all. So, sleep in and head off to work!

Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg

The Belgian-born fashion designer exuded both professionalism and elegance, even with her untamed curly locks.  Just because you may not have the straight hair of a supermodel doesn't mean you can't look good with curls. It's all about how you wear it. This iconic fashion designer learned to embrace her curls and you can too!

By the 1970s, a number of stars were bringing back the curls, and they all looked good doing it. Straight hair is just one way to look good, but it's not the only way. A hairstyle like this works excellently in a professional environment or for less formal occasions. Let's bring it back!

Diana Ross Afro

Diana Ross Afro

You can't all have the Motown swagger of Diana Ross, but at least some of you can have Diana Ross's iconic '70s afro. In an era that embraced more natural hairstyles, the afro was more than just a hairstyle; it was also a symbol of cultural pride. And like the music itself, Diana Ross's afro defined an era.

Characterized by its voluminous, rounded shape, the afro transcended fashion, becoming a powerful statement of Black identity and beauty. The Afro remains an enduring symbol of style, activism, and celebration of natural hair. It's time the Afro made a more significant comeback in the 21st century, where identity is just as important as ever.

Diana Ross Flip

Diana Ross Flip

Another iconic look from Diana Ross, this hairstyle was less natural but more fabulous. The hair flip look exuded that Motown charm when she was with the Supremes, and we can definitely see it making a comeback in the 21st century.  A unique and inspired hairstyle like this would be a great way to set yourself apart.

For those looking to sport a shorter hairstyle, this Diana Ross look would have to be covered if you wanted to make a statement. It's time to bring back those Motown vibes with this glamorous hairstyle that would work best for formal occasions.

Diana Ross Side Part

Diana Ross Side Part

Diana Ross has sported so many iconic looks over the years we couldn't help but not include this third one. A terrific option for a more mature look, nearly any woman can wear this hairstyle with confidence. It's big, like many hairstyles of the '70s, but it's not too big, if you trying to avoid attracting too much attention to your hair.

Undoubtedly a great option for working professionals, this hairstyle will require a lot of maintenance, but the end results will be worth it. if there's one Diana Ross hairstyle most could pull off, it would have to be this one. This side part is much like what you see Zendaya or Chrissy Teigen wearing, but with more bangs!

Mick Jagger's Shaggy Mullet

Mick Jagger's Shaggy Mullet

Of course, the legendary rock star Mick Jagger also defined the 1970s with his shaggy mullet. It's a look he still sports to this very day, so we see no reason why today's men couldn't get away with this look. We can't all move like Mick Jagger, but we can steal his hairstyle.

While mullets mostly went out of style after the '80s and early '90s, we've seen them come up here and there, which can only mean that the world is starting to long for their return. We know we are and this iconic mullet from one of the world's greatest rockstars is the way to bring it back.

Bianca Jagger Retro Waves

Bianca Jagger Retro Waves

The wife of Mick Jagger from 1971 to 1978, Bianca Jagger, has kept his name even after their divorce. She's also kept up with her fabulous hairstyle that she rocked through most of the 1970s. The Nicaraguan fashion designer serves as a goodwill ambassador, as well as the founder and chairperson of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation.

Retro hairstyles have been having their day, and this is another one that we can get behind. It frames the face perfectly and can add a chic look that compliments any dressy attire. The look exudes glamor and doesn't look dated in the least. We could easily see women everywhere with this one.

Charlotte Rampling

Charlotte Rampling

British actress Charlotte Rampling was a fashion icon, and this classy hairstyle of the 1970s was effortlessly chic. We want this haircut to make a comeback for sure. Can you imagine someone like Taylor Swift rocking this hairdo? We can, and we think she would look incredible! In fact, it's just enough to make anyone look amazing.

For women who prefer shoulder-length hairstyles, this look radiates with feminine charm. It's retro but not too retro. It's smart and cool, making it the epitome of class when it comes to 1970s hairstyles. In fact, I dare to say we don't have many hairstyles like this to choose from today, which is exactly why this one needs a comeback.

Ali MacGraw

Ali MacGraw

This iconic look became synonymous with Macgraw's role in  Love Story,  where she played the lead character, Jenny Cavalleri. If you have straight hair and prefer having straight hair, the Ali MacGraw long and straight look is perfect in its simplicity. It frames your face and lets you show off those long locks in a way no other hairstyle would quite capture.

If you don't have naturally straight hair, you could, of course, achieve this look with a hair straightener. Regardless, you'll have to keep your hair brushed well to maintain this look, but the result speaks for itself. While it works best for younger people, depending on your look, someone of any age could make it work.

Cher Curly

Cher Curly

Is there anyone more iconic than Cher? Maybe, but there are very few artists who even come close. We have to say, though, that Cher looked her best in the '70s and that's primarily because of her marvelous curls. We are telling you now that the curls of the '70s could be the best thing to happen to the 2020s.

Cher was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful music artists of the 1970s, and her natural curls really brought that out compared to the artificially straight hair that she sports now. Both Cher and a lot of women of today could really benefit from letting their curls just BE. Embrace them!

Grace Jones Crop

Grace Jones Crop

Buzz cuts aren't just for men! Grace Jones started popularizing this crop in the '70s, showing women you could still be a woman without all the long flowing hair. This is just about the easiest hair to maintain, and if you decide you don't like it, the good news about hair is that it grows back.

And now that we've seen more women like Natalie Portman, Jada Pinkett, and Kristen Stewart rock this hairstyle, it's easy to say that many women can pull it off and still look feminine. So, if you want to do away with the hair in your face, this is how to do it.

Jane Birkin Blunt Bangs

Jane Birkin Blunt Bangs

When it came to youthful charm, Jane Birkin made a statement with her blunt bangs that became popular with young people. Today, we can see this hairstyle on women of any age. If you have straighter hair, this look could be just the one for you, while requiring minimal maintenance.

Her aesthetic continues to be celebrated to this day. And while blunt bangs have made their way into the 21st century, they don't quite have the same charm as they did in the 1970s. They could use a little revamp that pays homage to this classic hairstyle.

Goldie Hawn's Curtain Bangs

Goldie Hawn's Curtain Bangs

Few actresses were as funny and talented as Goldie Hawn was in the 1970s. While not everyone can be her, you could at least rock this cute and fun hairstyle she had in the 1970s.  It's neat and sophisticated but with a sense of whimsy.

Curtain bangs have come back in some form today, but nothing like this. This updo with curtain bangs that Goldie Hawn sported through most of the 1970s framed her face but without taking up most of it. Something more like this would look a lot better in the modern age, working to accentuate a woman's natural beauty.

Jackie O's Flip

Jackie O's Flip

Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis didn't let the tragedy that befell her husband in the '60s take away from elegance and grace. She continued to set hairstyle trends, such as with this elegant flip that many women tried to emulate. She knew exactly what she was doing in the fashion department.

This iconic Jackie O look has a place in the 2020s, and we're ready for it. Even today, many people can appreciate the fashion sensibility of Jackie Onassis and all of the alluring hairstyles she wore during her lifetime. Women of any age can find at least something from her catalog of iconic hairstyles that would look good on them.
