Princess Diana’s Leopard Print Beach Day

Princess Diana’s Leopard Print Beach Day

Beach days are important, and Princess Diana knew how to strut her stuff. It isn’t often we see a royal family member walking around in leopard print, but the Princess of Wales wasn’t your typical royal. She wasn't afraid to do something a little daring (and bless her for it).

It was rare, but we sometimes spotted her in a bikini, which certainly isn’t something you’d expect in the ‘80s from royalty! She’s rocking this leopard print dress in the best way possible. The best part? The kiddos! You’re looking at baby Princes William and Harry. Who knew they would grow up to be such amazing men? Princess Diana would certainly be proud!

Princess Diana’s Wedding Dress

Princess Diana’s Wedding Dress

Princess Diana’s wedding dress was one of the most iconic gowns of its time. Within hours of its debut, copies were being made to sell to potential brides. In 2018, Time magazine chose it as the “Most Influential British Royal Wedding Dress of All Time”. Apparently, her train was 25 feet long!

During her wedding, Princess Diana famously removed "obey" from her vows – and she was the first to do so. The tradition was continued when Prince William married Kate Middleton and when Meghan Markle gave her vows when she married Prince Harry.

Princess Diana’s Blue Dress (And Her Iconic Dance)

Princess Diana’s Blue Dress (And Her Iconic Dance)

We’ll never forget this beautiful, shining dress with a large, silver statement belt. Princess Diana couldn’t look more beautiful if she tried. That being said, many people were confused with her body language and the way the couple acted during their iconic and so-called “romantic” dance.

Later, Diana brought up how Prince Charles resented how she outshone him during public affairs. Some body language experts suggest that the dance shows tension between the two as Prince Charles tries to "reassert his dominance," as a report states on Express.

Princess Diana's White Dress with Pavarotti

Princess Diana's White Dress with Pavarotti

Talk about wow! Princess Diana wasn't shy to show her shoulders, but it wasn't exactly what we'd call common. However, when she did walk out in a dress like this one, people couldn't help but stop and stare. This is the outfit she wore when she met Luciano Pavarotti, a famous opera singer.

Diana had gone to the concert because it was a benefit for Pavarotti & Friends for the Children of Bosnia. It was held in Modena, Italy in September 1995. This wasn’t the first time they met, however. Pavarotti had several encounters with the People’s Princess, including in 1991 when he gave her a sweet serenade in the park.

Princess Diana's Black Dress and Travolta Dance

Who wouldn’t want to dance with Diana? An interview with John Travolta revealed that he thought dancing with the Princess was “like a fairytale.” The Grease star met her at a white house party in 1985. He also said that when he was given the chance, he had better give it all – we agree.

During that time, she also danced with former president Ronald Reagan after getting the First Lady’s permission. The moment went down in history. Another thing that went down in history? That amazing dress that silhouetted Princess Di perfectly. We imagine it would be hard for anyone to say no when asked to dance with her.

Princess Diana's Mauve Dream Dress

Princess Diana's Mauve Dream Dress

Princess Diana loved attending plays, operas, or any art form she could set her eyes on. If anyone was a supporter of the arts, it would have been her. This was her when she went to see the ballet performance, Coppelia. In fact, you can see her holding the booklet on the performance.

She decided to wear a silky, mauve dress that featured a delicate bow. Along with it, she wore a diamond necklace that had the Prince of Wales’s feathers encrusted in the center. The dress was made by Donald Campbell, a Canadian fashion designer who made many other garments for her.

Princess Diana's Pale Blue Dress in France

Princess Diana's Pale Blue Dress in France

In 1987, Princess Diana and Charles went to the Cannes Film Festival, and she looked…honestly, we can’t even put it into words. The chiffon strapless dress was done in a stunning pale blue color. As if that wasn’t enough, she was also wearing a matching stole that honestly made the whole thing.

The dress was created by Catherine Walker, who is a French-born designer who made over 1,000 outfits for the Princess of Wales. While sad, she also designed the black dress that the People's Princess was buried in. Most of Di’s iconic outfits were actually made by Catherine Walker. Talk about talent!

Princess Diana's Halifax Ensemble

Princess Diana's Halifax Ensemble

In 1983, Princess Diana and Prince Charles decided to visit Canada, making stops in several places. Here we see her stop in Halifax. The red and white windowpane suit looked great with the red hat and bow (which really pulled everything together). It would look a little dated today, but in 1983, it was as fashionable as you could get.

The trip drew massive crowds, which was later termed “Dianamania.” Well, if Charles was upset that she stole the spotlight, he likely wasn’t pleased when she got her own term. Their trip included a visit to Edmonton to the 1983 Summer Universiade and Newfoundland to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the island's acquisition by the Crown.

Princess Diana's Bedouin Gown

Princess Diana's Bedouin Gown

In 1989, Princess Diana made a trip to Kuwait. It was her second visit to the Arab Gulf States and her first to Kuwait and the UAE. During the trip, she was given an embroidered Bedouin gown to wear. It was a deep ruby red, embroidered with gold sequins and fabric.

On top of the beautiful garb, she was also given a silver tea set to mark the occasion of her visit. The trip didn’t last long, as she had to make several other stops, but she looks like she’s enjoying her time abroad. For two years, she traveled the country while also focusing on humanitarian efforts.

Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress

Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress

Famously dubbed “the revenge dress,” this gown certainly made jaws drop. It was called that because it was worn the same night Prince Charles confessed he had cheated on her with Camilla. The people’s princess wasn’t having any of it. She stepped out in this silky, off-the-shoulder number, and everyone knew Prince Charles had messed up.

No one knows the true reason Princess Diana chose this hot little black dress, but later, the designer revealed she had been extremely nervous to wear it out because it was “too daring.” Whatever the reason, it was certainly an iconic moment (and one of the best fashion choices in history).

Princess Diana’s Floral Skirt

Princess Diana’s Floral Skirt

Some of Princess Di’s most iconic and best fashion moments were when she attended polo matches. One of the best? Her floral skirt with a white blouse. She attended a match at Cirencester in June of 1985. Florals were another thing she loved to wear (or at least seemed to, since she often wore floral outfits).

This one is a lot more casual than most of the stuff she wore, which is why we had to include it. To top it all off, she wore a chunky red belt that matched the red pumps and red sweater she tied around her shoulders. No one did fashion better than this woman.

Princess Diana's Famous Lavender Blazer

Princess Diana's Famous Lavender Blazer

This purple blazer is easily one of Princess Diana’s most iconic outfits. Not only does she look ladylike in the lavender color, but she also looks professional (and like she means business). To pair with the light purple, she also wore a string of pearls and pearl earrings. This was one of those outfits she loved to wear.

Obviously, the outfit is something to remember. Kate Middleton was spotted wearing an outfit comprised of the same color in 2017. It was hard not to think of Princess Diana when we saw Middleton wearing the dress. Over the years, there have been many similarities between Middleton and Prince William’s mother.

Princess Diana’s Polka Dot Ensemble

Princess Diana’s Polka Dot Ensemble

One of Princess Diana’s favorite patterns must have been polka dots because she wore them all the time. This one is one of our favorites. This lovely photo was captured in May 1981. It was shortly after her engagement to Prince Charles was announced to the public. This outfit would officially become her first royal walkabout.

The two had been seeing each other for about six months before he officially proposed to her. Apparently, they had an interview that day, and a reporter had the gall to ask if the two were in love. As if that wasn’t enough, Diana said yes, and Charles threw in, “whatever love means.” Uh, what exactly does that mean, Charles?

Connecting with people around her was second nature to Diana, which is precisely why everyone called her the People's Princess. She cared about every living thing, big or small. This was the Princess of Wales when she met a young girl during her visit to the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Temple on June 6, 1997.

On this trip, she wore a simple white dress with large ornamental gold buttons. She ditched her shoes out of respect for one of Europe's largest Hindu temples. In line with Hindu tradition, she also received a sacred red vermilion mark (chandlo) on her forehead to signify respect.

Princess Diana's Bike Shorts

Princess Diana's Bike Shorts

Bike shorts have come back into popularity, but we can’t discount the woman that made them super fashionable. Not that she was the first to wear them, but few people looked as good as Princess Diana did when she strutted around in these shorts. It seemed like she wore them all the time when she couldn't don something casual.

While we love the comfy outfit, there’s one thing we do hate about it – those dad sneakers. Well, they’re also back in style, so we can’t hate them too much. At least they aren’t as bad as some of the others we’ve seen on the market. It’s great to see a genuine smile on Diana’s face.
