Barry Williams Then
During his years acting in The Brady Bunch, Barry Williams portrayed the eldest son, Greg Brady. He was no doubt a heartthrob for many young girls in the ‘70s. His performance as the oldest son was one some brothers could probably relate to or see their own siblings in.
Barry brought an authenticity to Greg Brady’s character, likely due to having two brothers of his own. The character was also portrayed as groovy, level-headed, and an athlete. With those attributes, Williams was turning heads, both as Greg Brady and in real life. His character portrayal is one that keeps your eyes peeled, and you can’t help but continue to watch.
Barry Williams Now
You’ll be happy to know that Barry is still alive and kickin’ today. At 71 years old, Barry is still popping up in the Hollywood scene, although not in projects many would be aware of. His latest movie is Blending Christmas in 2021, a drama and romance film. He’s also continued to show up as a guest star on television.
After his stint on The Brady Bunch, he still never really left the show. Years after the show ended, he starred in several Brady Bunch reunions. Barry will star in a new 2025 TV series called Hardliner. He’s also dipped his toes into theater, starring in a production called Condo-Monium.
Florence Henderson Then
Perhaps the brightest light of the show, Florence Henderson portrayed the mother, Carol Brady, on The Brady Bunch. Her character was loving and considerate to her children and others. Florence already had a successful career on stage and with singing, so she had a professional vibe to her that no one could beat.
Her infamous career spanned six decades, and her role as mother of the Brady family is most notable. She was warm on screen and always a fun person to watch, portraying her skills. If you don’t know Florence as an actor, do yourself a favor and check out her work, and not only in The Brady Bunch.
Florence Henderson Now
You’ll be saddened to learn that Florence Henderson passed in November 2016. She died at the age of 82 due to heart failure. Despite her unfortunate death, she still has a reputation that won’t be forgotten. Beyond her role as the upbeat mom of The Brady Bunch, she’s starred in many other projects.
She’s done a few animated shows, including Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated and Loonatics Unleashed. Henderson also dived into some comedy and cooking shows, such as Who’s Cooking With Florence Henderson? Before The Brady Bunch, Florence was a powerhouse on Broadway, such as performing in Fanny, The Sound of Music, etc. She may be gone, but her incredible work will live on!
Ann B. Davis Then
The beloved Ann B. Davis portrayed a housekeeper, Alice Nelson, on the ‘70s sitcom The Brady Bunch. Her character was a bright, lovely character that you simply couldn’t dislike. Davis brought her kind and happy persona to the character and the show.
In the 1960s and ‘70s, Davis wasn’t just known for her role in the hit sitcom, but she also had appearances in TV commercials, such as those for the Ford Motor Company. Before The Brady Bunch, Davis played the role of a physical education teacher in The John Forsythe Show.
Ann B. Davis Now
Unfortunately, Ann Davis passed away in 2014. Her cause of death was a subdural hematoma from a bathroom fall. The actress died at the age of 88, but her skills and roles will continue to live on! Her final appearance in film or TV was in 2004 for The Brady Bunch 345th Anniversary Reunion Special.
If there’s one cast member to check out because of their acting appeal and skill, it’s Davis. She had tons of experience in Hollywood, so you’d be missing out if you didn’t watch something of hers.
Robert Reed Then
You may know Robert Reed as the father of the Brady kids, but he started on a different show before he took up his most notable character. From 1961 to 1965, Reed starred in a legal drama, The Defenders. As patriarch Mike Brady, Reed portrayed a father who was loving, kind, and often humorous.
A fact you may not know is that Robert Reed isn’t his real name; his birth name is actually John Robert Rietz. Once he hit the stage and Hollywood, he knew he needed something new for people to call him. Reed as Mike Brady in the hit sitcom is one that many fathers could possibly relate to, find solace in, or hope to become.
Robert Reed Now
It’s always horrible when someone leaves us too early, and Robert Reed happens to be one of those unfortunate souls. In 1992, at the age of 59, Reed died in Pasadena, California. His cause of death was primarily colon cancer, but he was also diagnosed with HIV, which contributed to his passing.
Reed's last onscreen appearance was in 1992 in an episode of Jake and the Fatman. It was titled "Ain't Misbehavin." Reed was a guest star for the crime drama series, and it aired mere months before his unfortunate death. Before he passed, Robert did reprise his Brady Bunch role in the reunions.
Susan Olsen Then
The young girl in The Brady Bunch was played by Susan Olsen, who you couldn’t help but find adorable. She portrayed the youngest Brady sibling, Cindy Brady, and got a head start in showing her acting skills. Olsen portrayed Cindy as a naive, sometimes stubborn, little girl with an emphasized lisp.
As a sister herself, Susan was able to portray a youngest child in a family of many with ease. I wouldn’t doubt that some of the things the character had to go through could relate to Susan’s real life.
Susan Olsen Now
Susan Olsen is still alive and kickin' at the age of 64. Her TV parents may have passed, but she and her TV siblings can keep the Brady family spirit alive. Olsen isn’t seen much out on the streets of Hollywood these days. She portrayed a precocious child in the past, and now she’s become a woman who likes to keep her peace.
Rather than acting herself, Olsen is an acting coach at Vibe Performing Arts in Santa Clarita, California. She teaches children how to act and about short filmmaking. Her last acting role was in 2021, in a film titled Blending Christmas.
Allan Melvin Then
Skilled actor Allan Melvin played Sam Franklin on The Brady Bunch. He portrayed Alice’s (Ann B. Davis) boyfriend and was the butchery shop owner in the TV show’s neighborhood. Melvin did many projects beyond this ‘70s sitcom.
He had a few appearances on The Andy Griffith Show and played Barney Hefner in All in the Family. He also dabbled in character voices. Much like his on-screen girlfriend Alice, Melvin was quite well-known for his work in product commercials.
Allan Melvin Now
Unfortunately, Melvin is another Brady Bunch member who has passed. He died at 84 years old in Los Angeles, California, in 2008. His cause of death was cancer. His final project was a voice acting one, in Scooby Doo! In Arabian Nights. His lovely personality, not just in his character portrayal and voice acting, but also his true character, will be remembered.
Melvin was an American actor and impressionist who was featured in hundreds of episodes and projects. He had two kids with his wife, Amalia Faustina Sestero. Do yourself a favor and watch The Brady Bunch so you can see Melvin do what he's best at.
Marion Ross Then
This character may not be one you, or many, know about or remember. Marion Ross portrayed Dr. Porter in The Brady Bunch, who was a pediatrician for the kids. She may be most known for her role in the show Happy Days as Marion Cunningham.
In fact, Ross received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for her character portrayal in Happy Days. Her skills are evidently not to be disregarded. Before Happy Days, she appeared in many films, such as The Glenn Miller Story and Sabrina.
Marion Ross Now
Today, Ross is a retired actress. At the age of 96 and after contributing her wonderful skills to Hollywood, she deserves her time of relaxation and rest. Considering how long she’s been in the business, Ross retired relatively late, in 2021. Sometimes, you can’t leave your profession when you love it too much!
Marion still shows up here and there, regardless of her retirement. She’s made appearances in online projects and reprised her role as Grandma SquarePants. Folks, we have another voice actor in our midst, and for the hilarious Nickelodeon show, SpongeBob SquarePants! I might have to rewatch that show and see if I can hear her voice.
Maureen McCormick Then
During her years in The Brady Bunch, Maureen was one of those girls you couldn’t look away from. She was beautiful and knew how to capture a room’s attention. Before the hit ‘70s sitcom, Maureen had some prior experience in acting and showbiz, which likely contributed to her success as the eldest daughter, Marcia, in the show.
After The Brady Bunch ended, McCormick made appearances in various shows and projects, including Happy Days, Donny & Marie, and Return to Horror High. Despite these other roles, McCormick’s most notable was as Marcia Brady. She portrayed a big sister that many adored.
Maureen McCormick Now
Maureen continues to pursue her career in Hollywood at age 69. As of 2025, she’s acting in an off-Broadway production called Pen Pals. A few other recent appearances from her include The Masked Singer in 2022 and Dancing with the Stars in 2023.
Other projects Maureen has dabbled in include advocacy work, hosting an HGTV show, and participating in The Brady Bunch special reunions. It seems nothing can stop Maureen McCormick from doing what she loves! If you’ve never seen her as the eldest Brady daughter, then you’ve surely seen her in something else.
Mike Lookinland Then
Known for his role as the youngest Brady brother, Mike Lookinland played Bobby Brady on The Brady Bunch. Mike was offered another role alongside a Brady sibling: Eddie Corbett on The Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Seeing as the ‘70s sitcom became an absolute hit, I’m sure Mike is grateful he chose the Brady family!
Besides his most notable portrayal in the popular sitcom, Mike also dived into other Hollywood projects. He produced his own single, “Love Doesn’t Care Who’s In It,” and voiced an animated character in the film The Point! Like most of the other cast members, Mike reprised his role as Bobby in many of The Brady Bunch reunions.
Mike Lookinland Now
Today, at the age of 64, Mike Lookinland is an actor, cameraman, and musician. Since 2018, he’s been playing keyboards and singing vocals for a band as a tribute to the Grateful Dead. He and his band, The Pranksters, are based in Utah.
Like many of his fellow castmates, he also starred in the Lifetime movie Blending Christmas. He then appeared as a Mummy in 2022 on the reality singing show The Masked Singer. Lookinland is still out and about in the showbiz scene, and doesn’t appear to leave it anytime soon!
Christopher Knight Then
Christopher Knight played Peter Brady in the TV sitcom. Peter is the second child of Mike and Sarah Brady, and the stepson of Carol Brady. Knight portrayed a brother who is protective, likes to joke around, and has a fragile ego.
Now, whether the TV characters' attributes are similar to Christopher’s, I couldn’t tell you, but he brought an authenticity to the character that you can’t deny. His acting was just that good! If you haven’t seen the memo yet, check out this wonderful show and watch how each actor brings their Brady character to life.
Christopher Knight Now
Today, Christopher is 67 years old and still makes public appearances. When he was a young kid, he was only an actor, but now he’s also a businessman. He recently acted in the film Blending Christmas, along with a few other Brady Bunch members.
Reading through these actors' lives and careers, you’ll find that once you’re a Brady, always a Brady! All of the cast members adored their time on the set of this beloved ‘70s sitcom. All of the reunions should be enough evidence of that. Knight is no different and continues to talk about his time on the show and constructing or participating in projects for it.
