What to Look for in a Tablet for School

It’s that time of year again; time to hunt for every item on back-to-school shopping lists and shell out hundreds of dollars for the best of the best. Tablet shopping should be no exception. Look for the following things to find the perfect tablet for school.

Accessories

It’s important to keep accessories in mind when shopping for a tablet. Can a keyboard be attached to it? Are there protective cases made for it? Can parental controls be installed? Tablets come with many different features and accessories so make sure the tablet you choose meets your needs.

Storage

You’ll need to save all of your school assignments and projects in one place. Make sure your tablet has plenty of storage. Most tablets range from 8 GB to 128 GB, but memory capacity is different for every brand. Also, check to see if the device's memory is easily expandable, such as having ports for memory cards.

Price

The more memory a tablet has, the more expensive it is. Accessories can drive up the price as well. That being said, paying a little extra can be worth it if you plan on using your tablet for school for a few years.

Size

Tablets are popular mostly due to their small size. However, not all tablets are created equally. Some tablets are bigger than others, which can be preferable in a personal or professional setting. For school, however, it’s best to go with a smaller tablet that will easily fit inside your backpack.

Battery Life

A typical school day lasts eight hours, and you’re going to need a tablet with a long battery life unless you’re ok with carrying a charger and plugging your tablet up every time you switch classes. While most tablets generally last throughout the day, it’s important to make sure you know what kind of battery life your tablet has before you purchase it.
