25 Times People Went All-In on Halloween

Dead Body Scare

Dead Body Scare

Sure, Halloween, in part is a bit about making light of the dead, but you can take it way too far when make people actually think there is a dead body on your property. This set-up cause quite a few legitimate scares or at least very concerned citizens according to the post on Reddit.

Apparently, MahatmaBlondhi, who had posted the photo to Reddit, said that he woke up to six police cars, a fire truck, and an ambulance outside of his home because of his Halloween display. However, this happened after Halloween, according to the Reddit user, and it was simply a decoration they neglected to take down.

Pirate Ship

Pirate Ship

There's nothing like sailing the high seas of the suburbs. "Arrrgh matey, there she blows! That landlubber of a neighbor who always complains about my decorations!" But seriously, who could complain about such great Halloween decorations? Sure, it's over the top, but it's just so over the top that you can't help but respect it.

It reminds me of visiting an amusement park—the giant props, the effort, the fun. I'm sure the neighborhood kids look forward to this house's theme every year! "Mommy, I want to visit the pirate ship first!" We can only imagine what a Halloween setup like this costs, and that's really the scariest part of this whole thing!

Spiders

Spiders

An upside to being dead: giant spiders can't kill you. I know it's for Halloween and all, but I seriously hate spiders! Anyone who has serious arachnophobia better avoid this place at all costs. It's clear that this is one house where the creepy crawlies are the ones calling the shots!

At least one can try to focus on the props in front of the house—the skeleton walking the skeletal dogs is a nice touch. Spooky without going overboard. Just don't let your eyes wander to the walls—it's not a pleasant sight! Let's just hope it doesn't rain before Halloween or this is going to turn into one soaked, cobweb-y mess!

Inflatables

Inflatables

Inflatables are already just about the cheesiest Halloween decoration you can muster and this house is just taking it one step too far. They went all out with the inflatables. There are a total of 110 inflatables here. Is that maybe a little bit overkill? Sure. But Halloween only comes once per year!

It's hard just to say how many inflatables is too many. Oh wait, no, it's not - the answer is one. If you are going for the cheesiest house on the block, it's going to be hard to beat this house, so don't even try. The neighbors might hate it, but you know the neighborhood kids probably love it.

Alien

Alien

"Don't drink and drive" applies to UFOs too. This scene crash landed in your everyday, normal neighborhood—the perfect place to try to shake things up a little. I wonder how long it took to create the actual UFO? They definitely didn't skimp on the size or the details for this one!

You know it looks real enough that some kid riding by yelled at their parents to stop the car, there's an alien back there! It's too bad the little alien is left unconscious on the lawn—maybe next year, he can be talking on his communication device or sneaking in a window.

Nightmare Before Christmas

Nightmare Before Christmas

Nightmare Before Christmas decorations are great because you can leave them up til January. After all the hard work that went into these decorations, you would want to leave them up for a long time! We're sure that's exactly what the neighbors want to hear about this festive and huge display.

You've got the creepy vibes from the spooky pumpkins and scary spiderwebs for Halloween. Then, you still get the colorful lights lining the house for Christmas. It's a win-win situation! It may be completely over the top (even for two holidays), but at least it looks very well done as well.

FIRE!

FIRE!

Sure, fires are scary but you don't want people calling the fire department because you have one on display in your home. You don't want people crying wolf because of your house because when the real fire comes, nobody will show up. This was a great execution of a terrible idea.

This fire looked so real to its neighbors, that clearly never went to Disneyland on the Pirates ride, that they ended up calling 911. The fire department ended up getting called several times because of this home. I mean, it looks cool...but at what cost? This is definitely one display that's not safe to show off to the whole neighborhood!

Last Walk

Last Walk

Ideally, your pallbearers would be living, but all the rules go out the window on Halloween. These homeowners got creative with their decorations. Or maybe the homeowners are the ones inside the coffin! Who says that dying can't be a little spooky fun too? These guys clearly have the right idea.

All jokes aside, these decorations are next level. I'm impressed they were able to get the skeletons to stand still for so long holding such a heavy coffin. These skeletons can definitely lift more than we can! The bats flying around are the spooky cherry on top for this amazing display.

Mutated House

Mutated House

They're taking home surveillance to a spooky new level. They're ALWAYS watching. Those giant eyes won't miss much when it comes to what's happening in the neighborhood—so be on your best behavior! When it comes to Halloween displays, not many can beat this both in terms of idea and execution.

As far as eyes go, though, they're not that creepy on their own. They're kind of a green cat-eye type design. So if you're cool with multiple enormous eyeballs and rows of carnivorous teeth on a house, these decorations are a rad way to celebrate Halloween! This will definitely freak out the neighbors...and home intruders!

Car Wreck

Car Wreck

I hope their neighbors were fans of Jeeper Creepers too. Otherwise, this could escalate quickly. First of all, a real car is flipped over and damaged—I wonder what the story is behind dragging that into the yard? Disguising your junker as a Halloween display is a clever way to get around any pesky city ordinances!

Secondly, did they build the monster prop or did they buy it? Because either way, that does not look cheap. It's so well done, you almost have to wonder if they stole it off the set of the movie! Jeepers Creepers...where'd you get those peepers? This is definitely going to terrify some trick-or-treaters!

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

If you ever wanted to know what a zombie outbreak would look like in real life, this house did a pretty good job of putting a realistic spin on it. From the fencing to the numerous zombies to the guy hacking the zombie in the face, these homeowners did a good job of planning and executing.

The beauty of this scene is that one doesn't have to have seen a single episode of The Walking Dead to appreciate the effort that went into this. You can't go wrong decorating your home with the living dead. Or maybe this isn't a Halloween display at all—maybe it's just a family reunion for a very unfortunate-looking family!

Mommy Zombie

Mommy Zombie

Awww...look! A mommy and her baby. So adorbs...or just plain creepy. Halloween is supposed to be fun for the whole family but when you have an undead baby on display, things get decidedly less fun. The folks that live at this house were clearly going for downright terrifying instead of a little spooky fun.

I mean, it's sufficiently creepy, though. It's plenty to scare the socks off of most people. Undoubtedly this is going to scare or disturb someone but will it really be worth the complaints from Karen? Probably not. But if anyone complains, not to worry—they're going to have to deal with Mama!

Execution

Execution

That's one way to keep kids off your lawn. A little gory for my taste, but for many, gore and violence are an essential part of a successful Halloween. I wonder if someone ever called them in for this kind of display? The French Revolution ended years ago, after all!

It's hard to tell if this scene was inspired by a movie, a time in history, or simply the imagination of the homeowner. Either way, we're impressed with the quality of the guillotine. Not many know how to make a good, hand-made guillotine these days! This is definitely a house to skip if the kids are with you!

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Dead Men Tell No Tales

A true pirate lives free and that's exactly how this homeowner is living his life. Is it a bit extra? Sure but that's what Halloween is all about. Well that and the candy, of course. Some people are Christmas people, but it's clear what the most important day of the year is to these folks.

If you check out the video, it's a pretty stunning display. But while it's fun to look at, we imagine it's not going to be so much fun taking all that stuff down, and well, storing it is going to be something else in and of itself. You almost need a second house just for the decorations!

The Dolls

The Dolls

It's never too early to get your kids involved in Halloween fun. Just make sure they're okay with you demonizing their dolls. There's just something a little extra creepy about turning innocent playtime into a horror scene. It's not the most ingenious display, but it's a classic one for sure.

It doesn't look like the dolls are posed in ways showing them doing anything creepy. They're just roughed up, stitched up, and look like they've had a long week. In fact, they're probably just leaving their shift from a daycare center! Maybe this isn't a display at all—maybe they've just got a creepy kid who doesn't know how to clean up after herself!

Haunted House

Haunted House

If you can't properly board up a window, you should expect stuff like this to happen. There are many routes this kind of display can take. The house is abandoned, except for the ones who haunt it. Or maybe the homeowners are trying to keep something out and are epically failing.

The poor soul itself looks eerily realistic. Its terrified face looks like it is trying its best to escape the horror inside the house. Maybe the wretched thing doesn't know he's the monster? Eh, I'm digging too deep for an inanimate object. It's not the biggest display, but it definitely has some spooky impact!

(Image via Facebook)

Werewolf

Werewolf

But why does the werewolf look like it's on stilts? I guess to make sure its able to be seen above the headstones. Still, if werewolves were a real thing, they would NOT look like that—4/10 for the legs. It's not his fault, though—maybe his parents are Balto and the Slender Man?

Besides that, the rest of the decorations are pretty solid! The headstones are nice and spooky, the skeleton wolf howling at the moon is creepy, and the cutout trees are the perfect touch. Add in that full moon and this is a worthy Halloween endeavor! You can't go wrong with a classic Halloween display.

Welcome Home

Welcome Home

They're the nicest neighbors to ever rise from the grave. But seriously, what a cool scene! Skeletons popping out from the ground and a skeleton dog chewing on a bone? What's not to love? These homeowners had a great vision when decorating their home and proved you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to look spooky.

While those are the first decorations to pop out at you, don't overlook the creepy tree, the giant rat, and whatever is going on on the porch! Altogether, I'd give this house a 7/10 for all things Halloween. This is definitely going to be a popular stop with the trick-or-treaters this year.

Spooky

Spooky

Someone definitely cleaned out the craft store's tulle supply for this one. It definitely gives these decorations a unique look! Scary things can be beautiful too, and the lady in the old gown is certainly that. Good thing this is for Halloween because we don't expect all that white will stay white for very long outdoors!

It's hard to tell what some of the other props are—some spooky flowers, skeletons, and some sort of mutilated skeletal creature? I'm not really sure, but you can tell that these homeowners definitely went all out for Halloween. However, it probably won't have you quaking in your boots or anything like that.

Boat

Boat

These poor fellas must have gotten a bit turned around at the last lighthouse. They ran aground and never made it back out to sea. They've been in this person's yard ever since. Sailing the open seas sounds like it's pretty difficult, but we think we could do a better job than these guys at navigating!

To me, it looks like a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean. All that's missing is Jack Sparrow singing, "I got a jar of dirt, I got a jar of dirt!" Maybe he pops out of the bushes when the sun goes down and the trick-or-treaters come out. It's a small but effective display.

Enjoying The View

Enjoying The View

Everyone seems to be having a great time in this photo. I'm not sure what the plan was behind this scene, but I'm not complaining. This is originality at its finest. It's creepy, yet makes me want to laugh. It's clear that these homeowners wanted humor just as much as they wanted terror.

Where does one find a gigantic purple alien head like that? And who thinks to pair him with a skeleton and give them a monster baby? The guillotine looks like it's been used before—good thing there's a tiny rat there to monitor the process. This one is nothing if not creative!

The Spiderweb

The Spiderweb

I think one can of bug spray should probably do it. That giant spider is so creepy, yet so awesome. You know these homeowners are the talk of the town when it comes time for Halloween—which neighbor is going to try to compete with that? That's definitely enough to keep us off the lawn!

Spiders really aren't my thing, but I can appreciate a well-executed scene like this. It gives me the heebie-jeebies, but hey, that's what Halloween is all about! It's spooky season—prepare to be scared! You might want to bring a can of bug spray with you if you plan on trick or treating here!

Little Shop Of Horrors

Little Shop Of Horrors

Weeds like that are liable to get you a citation from the city. This is a scene straight out of a 1980s horror film. Giant carnivorous plants taking over the neighborhood is the perfect plot for a retro scary movie. And these hungry plants look a little more terrifying than Audrey II!

But seriously, where do you find props like this? Do you just hop on Google and type in "Giant man-eating venus fly traps"? Who is selling this sort of thing? I guess there's something out there for every type of person. There are plenty of ways to be terrifying at Halloween!

(Image via Pinterest)

Construction

Construction

I'm sick of the neighbors and all their crazy house parties. At least they know how to have a good time. Looks like they might have partied a little too hard. I think you're supposed to go home when you see the sun coming up. At least skeletons are much quieter than the living!

But seriously, props to these homeowners. They utilized every bit of their house, boarding up all the windows and placing skeletons in all the empty places. If I was coming home to this neighborhood after a long day of work, I may take the time to drive by twice just to look at it all again!

Pumpkin Monster

Pumpkin Monster

That must be some new invasive species. Quick, cut it down before it spreads. This pumpkin tree monster looks like something straight out of our nightmares. But that's why this homeowner is totally winning at Halloween. Who would have thought that nature could end up looking so unnatural and terrifying?

The little pumpkins around the base of the tree must be the monster's little minions. When it's time to trick or treat, the kiddos better watch their baskets—these little guys look like they'll be up to no good! We know logically that pumpkins can't bite, but we're still going to give these guys plenty of space!
