5 Apps for Creating Photo Books

As you may know, photo books are quickly replacing photo albums as the most popular method to store and share physical copies of photos. They don’t require you to glue or place the photos in a sleeved binder, but rather allow you to compile your “album” online and order copies. They are cheaper, more durable, more compact, more customizable, and much easier to make than traditional photo albums.

One huge reason for their increased popularity over albums is the fact that photo books can be worked on from anywhere that you can take a laptop or smartphone. Some websites offer methods of creating and compiling photo books, but most people rely on smartphone apps. Because most of us keep our photos saved on our smartphones, it only makes sense that we create our photo books from there.

If you’re interested in making your own photo book, take a look below for a list of apps that will help you do so.

  1. Vukee’s PhotoBook – available for Apple and Android devices.
This app is one of the simplest and quickest ways to compile a photo book. You can make and order a photo book to be delivered in less than two minutes. The app itself is free and ordering prints can cost as little as $7.99 depending on the length of the book.  What’s special about this app is that it also allows you to create calendars and postcards with your photos. The app also provides an electronic version or copy of each product you have printed.
  2. SimplePrints - available for Apple and Android devices.
This is another easy-to-use app. Though it won’t allow you to make cards and calendars like Vukee, it does allow you to individually caption and edit each photo. The app is free and print prices start at $14.99 for soft covers.
  3. Mosaic - available for Apple and Android devices.
This app, while it does only allow 20 photos in each book, provides you with a quick way to create beautiful little photo books. This app warns users whenever a photo’s resolution may be too poor for printing and allows you to easily order multiples of each book. The app is free and the books cost $25.00 apiece.
  4. Print Studio – available for Apple and Android devices.
This app is another that provides users with a variety of options. On top of photo books, this app allows users to order their photos as regular prints, magnets, posters, photostrips, buttons, or as greeting cards. The app is free and 38 page photo books cost $25.00.
  5. Shutterfly – available for Apple and Android devices.
The final app in this list allows easy production of simple photo books. This app will allow you to sync up with your Facebook, Instagram, or Shutterfly account in order to use the photos you have saved there. The app is free and hardcover prints cost $29.99.
