The awaited Samsung Galaxy S9 is here, and we’re hoping that Samsung is fixing some bugs and upgrading our tech to be even better than before. The release date isn’t set until March 16th, but there are already a few things we know.

Smartphones are getting more and more expensive, but the Galaxy S9 is about the same price as its predecessors. In the United States, the price is set at $719.99 for the 64GB model. It’s more expensive than the Galaxy S7, but it’s a little less than the Samsung Galaxy S8. Does that mean there’s good news on the horizon for phone prices?

The display for the Samsung for the Samsung Galaxy S9 doesn’t offer many changes. The upper and lower bezels are smaller than the Galaxy S8 to provide more screen space. The screen is 5.8-inches with 567 pixels per inch. Naturally, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ will be larger.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Performance

Performance is where the Samsung Galaxy S9 really improves. The Galaxy S8 used a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset (4x 2.35GHz and 4x 1.9GHz Kryo CPUs). The new Samsung Galaxy S9 now uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chipset (4x 2.7 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4x1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver CPUs).

All this can seem a little complicated if you aren’t familiar with the lingo, but, basically, you’re looking at a 20% boost to performance and a 30% improvement in efficiency. That means your smartphone will run smoother and look better than any model before.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Features

There are a few new features that will make it easier to connect to other devices and make life easier in general. The new app pairing with the Galaxy S9 can save combinations of split screen apps to a home screen so you can pull up apps you use at the same time.

It also comes with the real-time translation of text when using the camera – perfect if you’re in a foreign country or learning a new language. The device also offers shopping information for products you take pictures of similar to Google Lens.

One of the best improvements Samsung made with the Galaxy S9 is moving the fingerprint scanner below the rear camera. This makes it more comfortable for hands of different sizes, unlike the previous models which had it located next to the camera.

Finally, some fans will be happy to know that you have a headphone jack to use earbuds or earphones. Naturally, you can also pair Bluetooth devices without issues.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Battery Life

Smartphones are getting more powerful, but Samsung is known for offering fantastic battery life with their devices. It features a 2000 mAh battery like the previous generations, but the efficiency cuts down unnecessary usage. Samsung also promises 95% battery capacity retention after two years, which can be great news for Apple iPhone fans that were spurned with their last model. As a comparison, Apple expects 20% battery capacity degradation year after year.
