5 Unique Thanksgiving Table Decorations

When it comes to Thanksgiving, most people only think to plan ahead for the menu, but having a lovely tabletop is just as important if you really want to bring your Thanksgiving dinner full circle. Here are five unique table topper ideas for your Thanksgiving feast.

Keep It Nutty

Acorns are often overlooked in the decoration department, but they can make for an adorable table setting if used correctly. All you’ll need is a vase, a plethora of acorns, and a can of soup (or a can of anything you choose). Simply place the can of soup in the middle of the vase and fill the rest of the empty space with acorns. Be gentle so you don’t break off any of their caps. The can fills up most of the vase so you can use fewer acorns. Place a set of three vases down the center of your holiday table for a festive look.

Pining For Food

You can also use a bowl of pinecones for outdoorsy decor. All you’ll need for this decoration is a nice, wooden bowl, plenty of pinecones, a candle, and a vase. Place the vase in the center of the bowl and place the candle inside. Now, carefully arrange the pinecones around the vase inside the bowl. If your candle begins to disappear behind the pinecones, use the can of soup trick as mentioned above. This decoration is pretty and natural!

Upside Down

This idea is very simple, but elegant. You’ll need an assortment of miniature pumpkins or gourds, wine glasses, and votive candles. Arrange the pumpkins (or gourds) in any set up you’d like in the middle of the table. Turn a wine glass upside down and cover the pumpkin or gourd with the wine glass, leaving the stem up like a platter. Place a votive candle on top of each wine glass and light them right before your meal.

Box It Up

If you want a more rustic or masculine table topper, you’ll have to procure an old, shallow wooden box, pinecones, miniature pumpkins, tea light candles, and some artificial moss. Place the box in the middle of the table and stuff it full of the artificial moss. Tuck some pinecones and miniature pumpkins on top of the moss and then nestle a couple of tea light candles in between. It’s simple, but attractive.

Bookworm Pumpkins

Pumpkins can be festive after Halloween if you doctor them up! You’ll need pages from a book or newspaper, a pumpkin, white flour, and water. Combine the water and flour to make a soupy paste. Cut out strips of paper and dip each strip into the flour and water mixture. Paper mache your pumpkin and let it dry. This will create a lovely black and white pumpkin for a shabby chic Thanksgiving.
