5 Wickedly Good Adult Brews

Flames of Hell Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. pineapple juice
  • 1 oz. orange juice
  • ½ oz. apple brandy
  • 2 oz. light rum
  • 2 oz. dark rum
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • ½ oz. grenadine
  • 1 oz. 151 Rum

Preparation

  1. First, combine the juices, brandy, and rums together in a mixer.
  2. Give your cocktail glasses a bloody edge by dripping grenadine along the inside of the rim and allow it to run down.
  3. Very carefully pour the mixer into the glass.
  4. Now float the grenadine and 151 rum on top of the drink.
Fiery Hazard: Before continuing with the next step, make sure you have both a fire extinguisher and sober adult supervision.
  5. Use a wooden match to light the cocktail and enjoy the fiery showmanship. Extinguish the flame before attempting to drink and never walk away from a lit glass.

VooDoo Head Punch

Ingredients

  • 6 cups pasteurized apple cider
  • 1 can of frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 8 firm apples

Preparation

  1. To preserve your shrunken heads for future charms, conjure up one cup of water with lemon juice and salt. Stir until the salt has completely dissolved.
  2. Scalp (peel) your apple heads. Then cut each “head” in half lengthwise and take off the stem. Core and seed each one using either a melon baller or a small spoon. Coat the apples in the lemon mixture
  3. Now use a small knife or pumpkin carver to dig out the eye sockets, nose, mouth, and ears on the curved side of the apples. You don’t want your heads to rot, so place them in the lemon mixture for twenty minutes to one hour.
  4. Remove the heads from the liquid and dry them off. Place them on a rack in either a shallow roasting pan or rimmed baking sheet with the flat side down. Bake them at 250 in the oven for two to three hours or until they start shrinking and the edges begin to brown.
  5. Cool your shrunken heads on a rack. You can store them for up to twenty four hours by storing them in a paper towel-lined airtight container in the refrigerator.
  6. For the grand finale, mix together the apple cider, lemonade concentrate (undiluted), and ice cubes. Add your shrunken heads to the potion and watch your guests freak out.

Specimen Jar Shot

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 oz. strawberry vodka
  • 1/8 oz. Rose's lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
  • splash of grenadine

Preparation:

  1. Reveal your inner mad scientist with this gory masterpiece.
  2. Chill the vodka ahead of time to ensure a smooth shot. Shake vodka and lime juice together in a shaker and strain into the shot glass.
  3. To create the brain, catch some of the Bailey’s in a straw and gently release it below the surface of the vodka mixture. Do this repeatedly until you have the size brain you want. The Bailey’s should suspend in the shot, creating the likeness of a preserved brain hemorrhage. Yum!
  4. Top it off with a splash of grenadine to give the appearance of blood.
  5. See if you can make it through one shot. Good luck.

Phoggy Phantom Shooter

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1/4 ounce grenadine
  • splash of Mountain Dew
  • dry ice chips, for presentation (optional)

Potion precautions: Never touch dry ice with bare skin and do not swallow.

Preparation

  1. To conjure up your phantom, shake bourbon, lime juice, and grenadine over ice.
  2. Strain your potion into a shot glass.
  3. Complete the transformation by adding dry ice chips and a splash of Mountain Dew.
  4. Practice safe brewing: Wait for the dry ice to completely evaporate before drinking. Otherwise you’ll be possessed by a phantom.

Keg-O-Lantern

Ingredients

  • 1 Pumpkin
  • Knife
  • Something to scoop out the pumpkin guts
  • Keg Tap

Preparation

Some pumpkins turn into carriages, but we like it better when they become bearers of beer.

  1. First, use a ceremonial knife to carve a circle around the stem of the pumpkin.
  2. Using a scoop, disembowel the pumpkin thoroughly.
  3. After you’ve completely removed the guts, carve out a small hole towards the bottom of the pumpkin for the keg tap. You might need to shave off some of the pumpkin wall to make it easier to insert the keg tap.
  4. To make the transformation complete, pop in the keg tap and fill your new pumpkin keg with your favorite beer.

Now go enjoy the ball!
