7 Ways to Track Down Phone Numbers

It can be difficult to track down phone numbers, especially cell numbers. Many people and businesses don’t even have land lines anymore. It might leave you wondering how you can find a person’s phone number or how to contact a company. Here are seven ways you can track down phone numbers.

  1. Facebook
Facebook collects a great deal of information from its users. One piece of info is a person’s phone number. Many people use their phone number rather than an email address to make it easier to log in. It’s up to the individual whether he or she wants a phone number displayed, but you can always just ask for a phone number through the messaging system.

Businesses also use Facebook as a way to find new customers, so you can search for businesses there. There’s an excellent chance you’ll find a phone number for any place you want. Facebook even assists you in finding phone numbers for local events.
  2. Yellow Pages
You may not get your Yellow Pages delivered to your door each year, but that doesn’t mean it doesn't still produce directories for people and businesses. Rather than sending out books, Yellow Pages created a website anyone can use. The website is user-friendly and allows you to find what you’re looking for in seconds. On the homepage, you can search for any businesses or type of shop in your area with a click of a button.

If you’re looking for a person rather than a company, use the Yellow Pages’ people directory, White Pages. Many people opt out of displaying their personal information online, but it’s worth a shot. Plus, it’s completely free.
  3. Contact Us
If you’re looking for a phone number for a business, try its website. Most companies have a “Contact Us” link at the bottom of their homepage. This link is usually found in the same area you would find “About Us” or “FAQ.” Looking at the "Contact Us" page also gives you the most accurate information for the business. Whereas Yellow Pages could be outdated, the business's site provides you with the most current information available.
  4. Zaba Search
Zaba Search is a free people search engine. Using this website, you can look a person up by his or her name and state. After you input the person’s full name, you select the state in which he or she lives and click “Search.” The website then pulls up all the listings for that state, as well as possible matches in other states.
  5. Google
If you’re still looking for a free way to find a person’s number, just search Google. Input all of the information you know about a person: name, birthday, location, etc. From there, click “Search” and browse the results. You'll likely get a bunch of links that have nothing to do with who you're looking for. However, you may also strike gold and find the various social media accounts of the person you're trying to find.

Most businesses are also easy to find on Google. For a company, just type in the name and city in which it’s located. From there, the search engine should pull up any information it has on the business. Granted, this information may not be 100% up-to-date, but Google is still a great resource for finding phone numbers.
  6. Intelius
After you’ve run out of free methods to find a person’s phone number, Intelius is there to help you. This site allows you to find people anonymously for whatever reason. When you conduct a search, it shows you the results for a person based on his or her name and state of residence. Without having to pay, it tells you the name of an individual and possibly his or her age. However, if you want a full report, you’ll have to pay. For $3.95 per person, you can get a person’s full name, address, date of birth, age, phone number, and more.
  7. US Search
Similar to Intelius, US Search allows you to find a person based on name, age, and where he or she has lived. However, this website tells you if it can provide the phone number and address before you buy. Plus, you can get a person’s name, age, and who he or she is related to for free. If you do choose to pay the $1.45 per person, you are shown his or her phone number and address. US Search also has options to pay more for additional information.
