Top 10 Free Weather Apps

Unless you live in California where it's 80 degrees and sunny every day, you probably need to check the weather forecast occasionally. Before you walk out the door, you need to know if it's going to rain, snow, or be windy. Having an accurate weather report is important, so we've found the top 10 free apps to help you out. All of the apps below are available on either iTunes or Google Play (or both).

  1. Weather Underground
Weather Underground has been the choice for many users for several years now. It's unique, as it pulls knowledge from several different sources rather than a single one. The community aspect makes it much more precise. The app has a radar, daily weather reports, and 7-day forecast.
  2. Yahoo! Weather
Yahoo! has been one of the top news leaders since before 2005. Not only is the weather app accurate, but it's also stunningly gorgeous. The Yahoo! app will give you up-to-date weather information for the day no matter where you live. It even has an interactive radar and satellite maps.
  3. The Weather Channel
Of course, one of the top free weather apps is going to include The Weather Channel. For all things weather related, this network has been providing honest information to people all over the United States. It's incredibly detailed and very simple to use.
  4. AccuWeather
AccuWeather has been installed by default on the Samsung Galaxy for years because it's one of the most accurate weather apps on the market. The information comes from its own meteorologists who "get in touch with the weather" (as they say) and deliver it straight to your mobile phone.
  5. Google Now
Google has made apps for nearly everything, and now it has a free weather app for your meteorological curiosities. This app has shown up in Android phones for the last few years as the primary weather information app. It gives you daily forecasts complete with radars.
  6. WeatherBug
Before we had an app on our phones that told us the weather, many of us used WeatherBug's website. It gave us information on the weather when we needed it most. Thankfully, our source is still reliable and has a free app that will give you daily and extended forecasts, even alerting you when severe weather is on its way.
  7. YoWindows Weather
This app is relatively new to the market, but being new doesn't mean it's any less reliable. It has more than a million downloads on Google Play alone. It will give you weather info in a beautiful and easy-to-use format everyone can enjoy. It allows you to see daily weather changes during the day with an easy swipe of your screen. This app is also available on iTunes.
  8. 1Weather
The name may not sound like much, but 1Weather is a fantastic option. It has real-time predictions that accompany stunning shots of the sky. Not only can you view a daily forecast, but you can also browse the 7-day forecast. The app also comes with severe weather alerts and detailed radars. It's one of the few apps that includes sunrise, sunset, and lunar phase indicators.
  9. Grumpy Weather Widget
With its salty language, this app is for adult audiences only. That being said, it's one of the most adorable, funniest weather apps you'll come across. It's one of the top weather apps on Google Play, and it gives you weather information accompanied by a grumpy little icon. It's easy to use and accessible for both iOS and Androids.
  10. NOAA Weather International
If anyone knows about weather, it is going to be the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. While the app says "international," you can easily use this app for local purposes. NOAA forecasts are some of the most accurate in the world, even when you look at the 7-day prediction. It will update you when there is hazardous weather and show you an easy-to-read radar.
