Not everyone wants to be something scary for Halloween. If you and your sweetie want to be the funniest couple at your Halloween party, here are five hilarious couple costumes you can easily make at home.
- Castaway Theme
This costume is cute and funny. One person dresses up like Tom Hanks in Castaway and the other is Wilson the volleyball. You’ll need a messy wig (or ratty, teased hair), torn and ragged clothing, and lots of “dirty” makeup to make you look as if you've been stranded on an island for years. For the other half of your couple’s costume, you’ll need a white t-shirt and red paint. Whoever goes as Wilson the Volleyball will paint their shirt with a red hand print with white eyes and a white mouth. Don’t forget the Fed-Ex box props!
- Birthday Piñata Theme
Another fun Halloween theme is to go as a piñata and birthday girl or boy. Whoever dresses as the birthday girl or boy just needs to dress as a child and carry a baseball bat and a blindfold. The piñata person has a little more work to do. Using crepe paper, wrap your outfit in straight, horizontal rows. Once the crepe paper is attached, cut half-inch snips vertically in every row. This gives the crepe paper the standard piñata look. After you’re done fringing the crepe paper, glue wrapped candies here and there onto the paper.
- Super Mario Bros.
This costume is easy to make and comfy! You both need a pair of overalls and white gloves. Mario will need a red shirt and baseball hat, while Luigi will need a green shirt and green baseball hat. Once you’ve got the staples of the costume taken care of, you’ll need to add two yellow felt circles to the overall buttons and a black felt M to Mario’s hat and a black felt L to Luigi’s hat. Last but definitely not least, don’t forget to add the big bushy mustaches!
- Hawaiian Punch
This one is super easy to make. One of you will go as a boxer and the other will go as a hula girl. The hula girl will need a grass skirt, sandals, and whatever top she’s comfortable wearing all night. You can get flower leis at any party store. The boxer will need boxing gloves and gym shorts, as well as white high-top tennis shoes with white socks. Top it off with a big gold medal belt and a mouth guard and you've got Hawaiian Punch!
