Romantic Staycations: What to Keep in Mind

A staycation can be a perfect time to reconnect and enjoy time with your significant other. Couples need to spend quality time together and if a big ticket vacation isn’t in your budget, a staycation might be perfect for you. Here are some great tips to help you start planning your staycation.

Choose Your Location

Some people choose to do their staycations at home. Others choose to do them at a local hotel. Either will work just fine, it just depends on the budget. A hotel can make it seem fancier, but a lot of people enjoy being in their home and would rather sleep in their own beds. If you do choose to stay in your home make sure you start with a clean home so you can spend your time relaxing and not worrying about the house.

Plan Out Activities

Research some fun things to do in your town. Check out local museums, sports teams, or theaters to see if there are any upcoming events. You could spend one entire day doing activities for your significant other, then spend another on the things you want to do. If you have a little bit of a budget set aside then you could spend some time shopping for each other as a treat.

Don’t Count Calories

A staycation is about treating yourself, definitely not the time to be on a diet. Use your staycation as an excuse to try out any restaurants you're interested in. You can search and see the best rated restaurants in your area and try out something new. Remember that you might be spending a little more money on food than you normally do, but you’re still saving a ton compared to if you were really on vacation.

Relax

Sometimes couples don’t relax in the same ways. So keep that in mind and try to choose activities that both of you will find refreshing. Some couples enjoy spending time at the spa being pampered and receiving couples massages. Others might find it more enjoyable to sit at home and binge a show on Netflix. Talk to your significant other and make sure you choose activities that you will both find relaxing.

Unplug

Most people find it extremely difficult to detach from their phones and computers. But you will get a lot more out of your staycation if you do. This will help you focus on your loved one, instead of the latest problem at work. Make sure you have email notifications turned off. Try to spend as little time as possible checking your Facebook and Instagram. Take the time to connect with your partner, instead of acquaintances on social media.
