When it comes to denim, you want something form-fitting, not some weird put-together look like you just hunted a giant denim bear and made him into some pants and jacket.
Instead opt for some slimmer jeans. They don’t have to be skin-tight, but they should flatter your figure. As people start to lose their COVID weight gains, the loose denim look isn’t doing anyone any favors. It just looks like you are wearing clothes that are too big for you.
Rainbow hair was a trend that has been emerging the past couple of years, but unless you want to look like a cartoon character, this is a trend you should ditch fast. Rainbow hair goes good with next to nothing in terms of fashion unless you exclusively shop at Hot Topic.

On top of this, the look really only looks good for a short while, because your hair grows out and the color washes out. Don’t be indecisive. Giant bags are literally the worst. They take up too much space as you carry them on your shoulder, and you tend to put too much in them, so they become heavy. They were super popular in the last couple of years, but it makes zero sense. They cause all sorts of back and shoulder pain, and there's no reason to carry that much stuff.
No one ever needs to carry that much stuff. It's time to cut back on the stuff and only carry what we need on a day-to-day basis. If you don't use it in a month, take it out of your purse. You are just going shopping, not going on a pilgrimage.

Late in the year, patchwork jeans got super popular. What is this, the '90s? As wide-leg jeans come back, patchwork is heading right out the window. Since holes in the jeans are still very much a thing, patchwork seems super unnecessary. And if you don't like the holes, replace the jeans.

This social media challenge encouraged teenagers to use suction bottles to temporarily plump their lips—but many lips were harmed in the process. Checkerboard print was emerging in the last couple of years, which we can likely give some credit to the Queen’s Gambit for happening. Checkered patterns on clothing were once a thing, but here, in the now, they always look out of place, no matter how many are wearing the look. Say no to checkered patterns in 2023.
For 2023, search for some more modern prints and patters. Avoid overly bright colors and bold patterns or you are going to look like you jumped out of a ‘90s after school special. The checkered look simply doesn’t work these days and walking around like a chess board isn’t going to make you look any better.

For an entire year of this decade, the chevron-patterned fabric was unstoppable. The print was extremely popular during the ‘70s and made a celebrated comeback during the 2010s. Dresses, blouses, skirts, leggings, tights, and accessories were covered in this geometric pattern. It's a very harsh pattern and becomes dated fast. And we have to say in 2023, it's reached that point once again.

The waist-trainer trend is nothing short of torturous. By wearing high-compression shaping garments, you literally train your waist to develop an hourglass shape. Not only is this body type unrealistic, but the act of waist training can also be detrimental to both your physical and mental health. You are basically crushing your organs.

At some point during 2020, when COVID lockdowns were happening, and people didn’t have to go to work and went out seldomly, they stopped caring about fashion and it was perfectly acceptable to just be comfortable. So yeah, some of us wore our pajamas outside of the house and it was great, but…
All good things must come to an end. And since we are now allowed outside of our homes, integrating back into society, we have to dress like normal people again. There’s a point where you have worn pajamas so often that you get too comfortable in them and wearing other clothes feels like wearing someone else’s skin. To retain fashion for future generations, get out of depression and be yourself again, it’s time to start wearing real clothes.
There may be such a thing as shorts that are too short, no matter how hot it may be outside. There may be shorts that provide almost no protection from the sun and shorts that frankly expose areas that maybe not everyone wants to see. Super short-shorts can sometimes just look like denim underwear.
And if your shirt is long enough, it may not look like you are wearing pants at all. We are talking about the shorts that are so short, you can actually some butt hanging out. With that said, this is a trend that really needs to go. A bikini shouldn’t be offering more coverage than a pair of shorts or they aren’t really shorts.

Many teens have said they know Crocs are ugly, but they wear them anyway because they’re “popular.” But even if they are wearing them ironically, it needs to stop. There are too many good shoes out there to give into the ugliest ones of all.
If anyone brings their Crocs into 2023, I will scream. Don’t even get me started on the fur-lined Crocs. It was bad enough that they could be worn in the summer, but now they can be worn in the cooler months as well. Unless you are operating a boat where your feet will be exposed to water often, there's no reason you need these shoes. They have practical applications, sure, but they are far from fashionable.
Cloth masks seemed necessary when we were in lockdown, because wherever you went, inside or outside, it was being mandated that you were a mask. And obviously, if you are going to walk around all the time in a mask, you not only want to be comfortable, you want to look good too.
That being said, there are much fewer restrictions being placed now so the need for these cloth masks is out. If you are in a building or establishment that requires a mask, it's time to think more practically. Get some real disposable masks that do a much better job of keeping people safe.

Probably the most hilarious thing about this ridiculous fad is how no one can seem to give a straight answer about what makes an outfit “coastal grandmother.” It’s vaguely oceanic and matronly, but it’s also 100% dumb. Having sunglasses that are comically small for the size of your eyes is definitely attention-getting, but it’s probably not the kind of attention you’re looking for. It would be one thing if these were being made by home knitters who were just proud to show off their work, but these eyesores are being sold for thousands of dollars by fashion designers who should know better.
