Banana Clips
While the 1980s popularized the banana clip, this year has perfected the hairstyle. While you can still rock the huge curls of the past with the clip, people are now opting for a softer look.
The relaxed curls make for the ideal low-maintenance hairstyle, blending the best aspects of the past with contemporary styles.
Slick Side Parts
Ask any millennial about getting rid of their side part, and they’ll give you a vicious and final “no.” This year, millennials can breathe a sigh of relief – Gen Z is bringing it back.
Slick side parts are a modern update of the beloved side part. The part is slicked down, usually accompanied by bouncy curls or sleek, straight hair. It’s classy, easily giving that “clean girl” aesthetic everyone loves.
90s Blowouts
Sometimes, all you need is a good blowout. Inspired by Brooke Shields and Cindy Crawford, the blowouts from the 1990s are classic, showstopping hairstyles.
90s blowouts are voluminous and fluffy, with big, soft curls. It gives us major off-duty-model vibes – perfect for casual days or fun nights out!
Fulani Braids
Also adored in the 1990s were Fulani Braids. Rooted in West African traditional hairstyles, these braids are full of history and beauty.
Popularized by icons like Rihanna and Keke Palmer, Fulani braids are a timeless hairstyle that is here to stay!
Hair Cuffs
Hair cuffs are the perfect add-on for a touch of glam. Just snap them onto braids or ponytails, and boom – instant fun!
From chic metal cuffs to playful designs, there’s a cuff for every vibe. They're trendy, easy to use, and elevate hairstyles in seconds.
Baby Bangs
Love them or hate them, baby bangs are here to stay! Made popular in the 1950s with Audrey Hepburn's iconic tiny bangs, the style resurfaced with early punk rock hairstyles in the 1970s and 1990s.
Now, the baby bang has transcended limitations and is adorned by people who rock any style. Modern iterations of the hairstyle are becoming increasingly daring, making it exciting to see what comes next!
Scarves
Headscarves have been a staple in women's fashion forever, and this year is no different. While there are a million ways to wear a cute scarf, this year is all about the peasant-style.
Using a bandana folded in half and tied at the back of the head, peasant-style headscarves are a simple and adorable hairstyle!
Curtain Bangs
Want something new but don’t wanna commit to full bangs? Curtain bangs are the perfect solution. They add just enough depth and movement to your hair without having all the negatives that come with normal bangs.
Celebs like Sabrina Carpenter and Daisy Edgar-Jones have popularized curtain bangs, making it the go-to look for anyone wanting to spice up their normal hairstyle.
Jellyfish cut
Popular in Asia, the jellyfish cut is inspired by the traditional hime haircut, originating in Japan. It’s a blunt bob, featuring longer pieces on the bottom. The resulting haircut resembles the shape of a jellyfish.
Popularized by K-pop idols, the jellyfish cut has swum its way to new shores and is now being adored by Western celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish.
Mousy Brown Hair
Mousy brown hair is a color that falls in between light brown and dark blond. Once not preferred, the hair color is now back with a vengeance!
Now that people are starting to embrace their natural hair color to avoid the hefty salon prices, mousy brown hair is the ultimate low-maintenance shade.
Birkin Bangs
Birkin bangs were popularized in the 70s by Jane Birkin, British actress and singer. The style is coming back this year, with celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Jenna Ortega paving the way.
The bangs are typically the length of the eyebrow, and the style is shorter and blunter than the popular curtain bang. The wispy volume of the updated version of Birkin bangs breathes new life into this classic style.
Low Contrast Roots
This year, we’re letting our roots grow out. The low contrast roots style emphasizes your natural root color with highlights closer to your mid-cheek to bring the focus back to your facial features.
It doesn’t require near-constant maintenance and gives an effortless look to the wearer. More and more people are choosing to go for the more down-to-earth styles rather than the high-concept or high-maintenance ones of the past few years.
Bows
If there’s one trend that has dominated the year, it’s bows. Coquette core has taken the world by storm, allowing people to include more romantic and playful elements in their style.
A big part of this trend has been the resurgence of hairbows. Bows are no longer just for the little girls in your life. They’re a fashion statement that embraces childlike wonder with a touch of elegance.
Blunt Bob
Hailey Bieber chopped her hair in 2023, so we already know it’s a trend going into this year. She decided on a blunt, chin-length bob. With this style, you can go for short and sleek, wavy, or even an up-do.
The blunt bob is the perfect hairstyle for spring. It’s light, airy, and doesn’t take a lot of time to style. We know a lot of people are grateful to be dealing with less hair as it gets hotter outside.
Red with Blue Undertones
The bright, in-your-face red hair of the past is taking a cooler turn this year. A new hair color making a statement this year is red with blue undertones.
Dua Lipa is to thank for popularizing this color. People are taking a bolder approach to the natural warm reds we’ve become used to. The cooler tones create a darker color that gives a mysterious vibe.
Cropped and Curly
Curls can be kept loose and teased out or short and defined. This year, stars are holding their curls close. The cropped and curly hairstyle can be seen on actress Julia Garner.
Cropped and curly can be achieved with any length, style, or texture of hair. Curl-defining creams can aid in creating the definition you want. We love seeing people embrace their natural curls.
Asymmetrical Bob
The side-part is fighting for its place this year, and we think it may have a home with the asymmetrical bob. Halle Berry is well-known for her take on this look, leaving length on top and cutting one side shorter.
Another way to do this is leave length in the front of your hair, so that it is long enough to pull back if you want it out of your face.
Polished Shag
Last year was full of sharp edges, but this year is coming in a little softer and sleeker. The popular shag of last year has now turned into the polished shag, which has more rounded edges, giving that polished finished.
This style has longer, straighter layers than a regular shag. Stars like Jenna Ortega and Emma Chamberlain have had similar cuts. Take a flat iron and flip the ends for a retro feel.
Halo Cut
The halo cut is reminiscent of a bowl cut but with a modern flair. The hair frames your face, putting you at the center of the halo effect. Probably the best example of this style is Florence Pugh.
The bangs curve around the top of your face around your eyebrows, while the rest of your hair can be cut anywhere from chin-length to the collarbone.
Wide Headbands
Wide headbands have become much more than just athletic wear in recent years. They’ve become a popular and versatile accessory, endorsed by celebrities like Bella Hadid. They’re celebrated for their laid-back look.
Headbands are helpful for practical reasons like keeping your hair back but can also serve as fashion statements. They fit very well within the “clean girl aesthetic” that prioritizes low-maintenance, natural makeup, and simplicity.
Barrettes
Barrettes may have started out as a way to keep your child’s hair in place, but no more! These hair accessories have made it big in the fashion world, with stars like Sydney Sweeney wearing them to big events.
Barrettes can elevate any look. You can even choose fun shapes or colors to give your professional look a little more personality. They are yet another fashion statement with practical purposes.
Side Swept Bangs
You may have thought that side swept bangs are a thing of the past, but they are making their way back into the public eye, along with the side part.
Dua Lipa is the best example of pulling off this look. With her hair in an updo, she sweeps her cascading bangs to one side, framing her face in a way to accentuate her cheekbones.
Lots of Volume
Recent years has seen the birth of the “mob wife aesthetic,” which is a bold and maximalist style. Along with that trend, we’re going to see lots of big hair.
Long hair will have its time to shine this season. We’re embracing and enhancing naturally curly or bouncy hair with plenty of teasing and volumizing spray to get the full effect.
Rebel Pixie
The pixie cut is back and better than ever with this rebellious version. The rebel pixie is cropped short but left a little untamed. The somewhat choppy layers add depth and dimension to the look.
The cut is as low maintenance as they come, styling completely up to your preference. Leave it a little wild and unmanicured to make it a bold statement of your individuality.
Slicked Back
Sleek and slicked-back looks started becoming more and more common with the rise of the “clean girl aesthetic.” However, the wet and slicked-back style is what’s making waves now.
The style can be done with any hair length, but it’s usually easier to work with short hair. Just run a gel or volumizing mousse through the length of your hair.
Oversized Hairpins
Updos have become increasingly popular, and with that comes the need for hair accessories to hold the updo in place. People have taken the need for functionality and turned it into a fashion statement.
Oversized hairpins are used to secure updos in place, such as French twists. They can add flare to an otherwise normal hairstyle. It’s a chance to show off your personality with hairpins like flowers or other fun designs.
Eyelash Bangs
The rise of eyelash bangs is great news for straight-haired girls. This take on bangs requires little styling other than the initial cut. Just let your hair flow straight down. Eyelash bangs are almost too long, but not quite.
The middle of your bangs should be a little shorter so they’re not actually in your eyes, while the sides of your bangs are longer and blend in with the rest of your hair.
Bronde
Bronde is precisely what it sounds like: a mix between the blonde and brunette hair colors. This style showcases a return to natural hair colors. With its natural and soft appearance, the color highlights natural beauty.
The medium shade doesn’t have the platinum or drastically dark colors that have been popular in the past few years. Those colors are difficult to maintain, while bronde is much more likely to blend in with your natural color.
Mid-Length Lob
This summer, we’re chopping our hair. To do that, though, you don’t have to commit to a full pixie cut or even a bob. The mid-length lob, coming down to about your shoulders is a popular choice.
This haircut can be styled any way you want or not styled at all. Waves or curls make for a more romantic look, while sleek and straight gives off a powerful vibe.
Marshmallow Pink
Although natural colors seem to be coming back in style, bold colors will never be going away. In February of this year, Megan Fox showed off her new marshmallow pink hair, and fans instantly fell in love.
The bright color is screaming 2010s Tumblr, the perfect mix of rebellion and pastel dreams. This hair color is spring personified, and we know we’ll see a lot more of it as we go into the warmer months.
