All Natural Hair Treatment for Split Ends

Many women want long, beautiful locks of hair, but split ends often make it seem impossible. Split ends happen when the shaft of the hair becomes dry and damaged, and then eventually cracks. Excessive brushing, frequent washing, and use of heat when styling increases split ends. If ignored, the split ends will only spread and get worse. The quickest way to eliminate split ends is to have them trimmed off. While this is effective, not everyone wants to chop off inches of hair.

Coconut Oil

One of the best natural remedies involves just one simple ingredient: coconut oil. Unrefined organic coconut oil applied to dry hair before washing moisturizes split ends. Apply throughout your hair, but concentrate on the ends. Then leave it in for thirty minutes before washing. This gives your hair time to soak in the moisturizing nutrients. The rich fats in coconut oil help repair, moisturize, strengthen, and even prevent further splitting. This beneficial deep conditioning treatment can be repeated as often as you find necessary.

Chamomile Tea

You can also use chamomile tea to treat pesky split ends. Chamomile has natural soothing qualities that not only help to heal split ends, but also eliminate frizz and fly-aways. Simply brew a pot of chamomile tea, and apply it as a rinse over your entire head before shampooing and conditioning as normal.

Deep Conditioning Masks

Deep conditioning hair masks are useful for smoothing out split ends as well. A simple hair mask made from a very ripe avocado and olive oil can make your hair softer, shinier, and healthier overall. Mash up an overly ripe avocado and mix it with olive oil until you reach a creamy consistency. Apply this mixture throughout your hair, but make sure to avoid the roots. Twist your hair into a bun and then put on a shower cap. Let it set for at least one hour before washing it out. Since all of the ingredients are natural and healthy for your hair, it can be applied as frequently as you wish. It’s most effective when applied bi-weekly.

Egg Shampoo

Another simple natural remedy to improve the health of your hair is a simple egg shampoo. Simply mix one tablespoon of coconut oil, one tablespoon of honey, and one egg. Apply this mixture to your hair, rinse with cold water, and then wash as normal. The protein in the egg and the sugar of the honey will work together to strengthen your hair against breakage and provide a gorgeous sheen.

While these topical treatments, among others, will help improve the overall appearance and health of your hair, one of the best things you can do is nourish your body from the inside out on a daily basis. A healthy diet combined with these treatments will not only fix your current split end problem, but also prevent them from happening in the future.
