Best Fall 2015 Trends in Sunglasses

They say you’re never fully dressed without a smile, but I’m going to take that one step further and say that you’re never fully dressed without a great pair of sunglasses. There are so many sizzling new eyewear trends that I’m falling head over heels for this season, so if you can’t decide which pair to buy, follow my lead and treat yourself to a pair of each.

Embellished

The embellished sunglasses trend is a difficult style to pull off. There are some super chic options with metallic finishes, like this pair of Jimmy Choos that I’m drooling over ($465), but then there are a lot more with floral embellishments and wild patterns that cross the line between bold and tacky. So, tread carefully with this fall trend, but if you do choose a pair of embellished shades, one great aspect is that you really don’t need many (or any) other accessories to pull your look together. Pair them with solid tops and dresses for an upscale look, or if you’re feeling extra daring, mix and match some patterns with your sunnies. Unfortunately, if you do want to own a pair of embellished sunglasses, there aren’t many quality budget options, so here’s one of the few I found: a pair of stylish, crystal embellished aviators from Stage that are only $30.

Cat Eye

Nothing will make you feel like a movie star quite like a pair of vintage sunglasses, more specifically the cat eyes sunglasses. They’re bold, they’re beautiful, and they will add a touch of class to any of your favorite outfits. If you’re in the mood to splurge, check out this oh-so-gorgeous pair of Marc Jacobs cat eye sunglasses at Bloomingdale’s for $130. Another chic, affordable option is this pair of metal cateye sunnies from Topshop that are only $30. Rock these sunglasses with midi skirts, crop tops, colored skinnies, and kimonos this fall, and don’t forget to add a smear of red lipstick to complete the vintage vibe.

Flat Top/Square

We love the flat top/square women’s sunglasses and men’s sunglasses trends because they’re like a hybrid of modern and retro! They are the perfect sunglasses for round and oval faces, and there are many delightful budget and designer options available. Check out these LOFT Ombre Square sunglasses that are less than $25, or fall in love with these Saint Laurent beauties for $325. Most of the square/flat top sunglasses options are rather subtle, so pair them with statement earrings, sheer fabrics, and elegant buns, and you’ll have a great, balanced ensemble.

Round & Retro

Round sunglasses for women and round sunglasses for men are making a huge comeback this fall along with many other 70s trends. We love round lens sunglasses because they match flawlessly with upscale and casual outfits alike. One of our favorite budget finds is this pair of blush-colored sunglasses from Urban Outfitters that you can score for only $10! Another designer standout from this season is this stunning pair of Valentino plum round sunglasses (and they’re minimally embellished too!) that you can grab for $228. You can style these beautiful sunnies with everything from flannel to blazers to crop tops, so feel free to go crazy and unleash your inner hippie!

Aviators

I feel like aviator sunglasses will be in style for eternity, so you should probably keep a pair of these classically cool shades on hand at all times. The large lenses and metal frames will flatter just about any face shape, so they are many people’s go-to pair of sunglasses. We’re swooning over these elegant Prada womens aviator sunglasses ($250) because of their simplicity and the violet-tinted lenses. We also love these Cole Haan aviator sunglasses for men that are only $35 on Nordstrom Rack! Style these babies with your favorite jean jackets, flowy tanks, and anything military inspired to be right on trend this season.
