Classic Halloween Makeup DIY

Makeup is one of the most fun parts of Halloween, and you can easily create believable designs yourself. 

(Edible) Fake Blood

Materials

• 1/2 cup tropical fruit punch
• 1 cup corn syrup
• 2 tablespoons red food coloring
• 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
• 2 tablespoons cornstarch
• 1 tablespoon powdered cocoa
• Blender

1. Put all ingredients into the blender and blend for 10 seconds.  You may have to tweak the amounts of the ingredients until you are satisfied with the color. 
2. You can easily test your mixture by putting a few drops of the blood on a white towel. 
3. Once the blood looks realistic, you can use it on your skin to simulate fake wounds or drip it on clothing to add to your costume (ex. zombie and vampire).

Zombie Makeup

Materials

• Gray, black, and blue eye shadow
• Liquid foundation
• Baby powder
• Red lipstick
• Chewing gum
• Fake blood
• Q-tips

1. Mix the gray eye shadow with your liquid foundation and apply it to your entire face.
2. Dust the baby powder over your face to create a matté look, but not enough to cover up the gray color.
3. Apply black eye shadow around your eyes and on cheekbones, temple, nose, and lips to form shadows.  Be sure to blend it in with your skin so it looks natural.
4. Wet a piece of chewing gum and stretch it into an imperfect oval outline, leaving the center empty.  Attach the gum to your forehead.  This will be the base for your fake wound.
5. Dab some liquid foundation and baby powder around the gum until it blends in with your skin.
6. Using a q-tip, fill in the oval with red lipstick, then apply a small amount of black eyeshadow for texture.
7. Drip the fake blood into the wound and allow quite a bit of it to run down your face.

Pirate Beard

Materials

• Brown eye shadow
• Water
• Sponge

1. Add water to the brown eye shadow until it forms a paste.
2. Dip the corner of the sponge into the eye shadow and dab it onto your chin and above your lip to create an unshaven look.
3. If you want a fuller beard, you can also attach a fake beard to your chin with eyelash glue. 

Vampire Makeup

Materials

• Baby powder
• Red, black, and silver eye shadow
• Black eyeliner
• Black mascara
• Dark red lipstick
• Fake blood
• Fake vampire teeth

1. Cover your entire face with the powder and pat it into your skin.
2. Apply the silver eye shadow to your eyelids and blend the black eye shadow along the outer edges. Then apply the red shadow underneath your eyes.
3. Mix a small amount of the red eye shadow with the powder and blend it into your cheekbones.
4. Draw a thick black line on your eyelid with the black eyeliner, extending from the inner corner to the outer corner.
5. Coat your upper and lower lashes in mascara.
6. Fill in your lips with dark red lipstick and add a few drops of fake blood.
7. Place the fake teeth in your mouth and dab a couple drops of fake blood on the canines.
