Four Fun Color Combos for Fall

Fall is finally here! It’s the season of late nights, pumpkin spice, and cozy outfits. Before you spend all your shopping money on traditional fall colors, consider expanding your autumn color palette with some of these excellent combinations.

Plum and Olive Green

Plum and olive green are independently two of the most popular colors this fall, but together they are simply striking. The deep, rich plum pairs beautifully with the earthy, muted olive green. You could match olive green skinny jeans with a plum dolman top and add some taupe, suede booties. Accessorize this outfit with a long silver necklace, bangles, and diamond earrings. Another great outfit you could try is a plum skater skirt, blue gingham button-up top, and olive green accessories, such as a thin belt and necklace. Tuck the shirt into the skirt and tie the belt at your natural waist.

Cobalt Blue and Black

You cannot go wrong with a bold, cobalt blue and sleek, black outfit this fall. The bright blue is always perfectly balanced by the dark elegance of the black. Want to mix up your work wardrobe? Match a cobalt peplum top with a black pencil skirt and nude pumps, then finish with a pearl necklace. Cobalt is also the perfect accessory color. Add a cobalt handbag or flats to your collection, and you can instantly dress up an otherwise neutral outfit.

Tiffany Blue and Chestnut Brown

Tiffany Blue is usually regarded as a spring hue, but it can easily be used as a bright pop of color in your fall wardrobe as well. Chestnut brown goes very well with this shade of blue and can help tie your outfit together into an interesting fall palette. You can create an elegantly simple outfit by layering an oversized Tiffany Blue cardigan or sweater with a loose-fitting, cream top. With this, you can wear skinny jeans or leggings tucked into a pair of chestnut brown riding boots. If you feel like really committing to this combo, try a swing or peacoat in Tiffany blue and pair it with a cream sweater dress and dark brown ankle boots.

Mustard Yellow and Teal

Before you dismiss the often underrated color of mustard yellow, try on this color in an outfit that also incorporates a strong teal. This rich shade of yellow is versatile, but particularly excels when matched with a cool shade of blue. For a casual outfit that is perfect for a day of running errands throw on a loose-fitting, mustard yellow top, dark-wash skinny jeans, a teal, paisley scarf and chestnut riding boots. If you want to incorporate mustard yellow and teal into an office-appropriate outfit, you can pair a mustard yellow A-line skirt with a heather gray blouse, then layer on a teal cardigan or blazer. Keep it proper with a pair of nude heels and a gold watch.
