Beyond your New Year’s Resolutions of eating healthier, working out, and saving money, have you thought about how you are going to dress in 2015? Most designers have already released their wonderful spring collections, which you can effortlessly incorporate into your wardrobe and start the new year in style. You may still be able to reuse or modify some of your 2014 attire, but adding a few new, trendy pieces won’t hurt!
Wrap Belts
One style that is expected to take the fashion world by storm is the martial arts-inspired wrap belt. Many designers, including Alexander Wang, Loewe, and Philip Lim, showed off new outfits on the runway that highlighted this universally flattering belt. Donning any kind of belt at your natural waist creates an hourglass figure, but this wrap belt goes even further. Tied into an elegant knot or bow, the remainder of the belt flows down the rest of your body, giving your legs more length. Test the waters by wrapping a silk one around a blazer, vest, or even a loosely fitted maxi dress, and you’ll surely love it.
Seventies
If you love boho chic or crave the styles of the seventies, 2015 is your year. The runways are overflowing with loose, seventies-inspired, bohemian apparel, so never fear if you haven’t yet shed those few holiday pounds (they’ll mask it perfectly). Print mixing and bold colors are at the heart of this trend, and the best part is that you can be both trendy and very comfortable. Go beyond your comfort zone and pair high-waisted, floral print palazzo pants with a patterned crop top (another 2015 trend). You can choose another floral or branch out with some lace or stripes.
Suede
This lovely fabric isn’t just for shoes anymore; designers are creating all kinds of clothing items out of suede, including dresses, coats, and skirts. If you are afraid of water damage or are looking for a vegan-friendly option, you can always opt for faux suede. Choose a (faux) suede dress in the color of 2015: marsala. Marsala is a beautiful, earthy brownish red shade that pairs wonderfully with many other colors on the spectrum. In addition to a suede dress, you can add some black, knee-high socks and leather ankle boots.
