Spring has nearly sprung, and with the new season comes new colors and patterns. Fashion Month has just concluded with Fashion Weeks in New York, Milan, London, and Paris, so be prepared for all-new styles to hit stores around you within the next couple months. There were many new colors and patterns showcased on the runway that would be perfect for freshening up your wardrobe after this dreary winter.
- Striking Stripes
Branch out from your typical, horizontal striped blouse and wear something a little bolder. Thick, vertical stripes are making a comeback, especially in pants, so be sure to grab yourself a pair of striped palazzos or harem pants. Asymmetrical stripes will also give you a unique look, such as a blouse with horizontal stripes on one half and vertical stripes on the other half. Pair it with marsala-colored pants and black pumps for a chic ensemble. - Patchwork
Contrary to what you may think, patchwork can actually look very fashionable, if its done right. The perfect item for chilly spring nights is a cropped, patchwork jacket. You can wear one that has all the colors under the sun or just a few colors if that is more your style. Pair it with a lightweight, blush crop top and white, high-waisted shorts. If you want to do some pattern mixing, switch out the white shorts for a leopard print. - Black
It sounds a bit odd that black is one of the hottest spring colors, but it actually is! Designers have been going against the grain with this dark color, but we think it’ll be a refreshing alternative to all the pastels and florals this spring. The best part is that you probably have black clothing in your closet already, so you should be able to start creating outfits right away. Don a black suede dress, silver jewelry, and metallic pumps or flats for an up-to-date happy hour look. - Metallics
Admit it, you love things that sparkle and shine, and you’re in luck this season. Lightweight, metallic outerwear quite literally shined at New York Fashion Week, and its perfect for many occasions, especially a date or a girl’s night out. Pair your favorite little black dress with a gold, metallic blazer and open toe heels, or throw an olive green metallic jacket over a plum blouse and black pants. - Aquamarine
Pantone released their color of the year a while back (Marsala), but they’ve just come out with the hottest apparel colors of the season. Aquamarine tops the list, and its the perfect springtime hue. A great aquamarine accessory to find is a pair of almond toe pumps. Add some striped harem pants, an ivory chiffon blouse for a cool, casual look. You can even bring aquamarine to the office with a black blazer that has aquamarine details, like cuffs and the collar.
