What Not To Do With Your Date Make Up

We’ve all been told to be ourselves when dating. Well, this applies to your date make up as well. You should look natural and like yourself. On a date, you are presenting your best self to your date, who is also a real person. A date is not a fashion runway or costume event. There are certain makeup trends and looks to avoid if you hope to make a positive, attractive, and appealing impact.

  • Heavy foundation

Foundation that is too dark, too light, or too thick is unnatural, unattractive, and doesn’t look good on anyone. Seriously, just put down the foundation.

  • Extreme tanning

Whether it’s a real tan, spray tan, or from a tanning bed, over tanning isn’t a good look on anyone. In fact, it makes you look older. Overuse of bronzer causes the same problem. Aim for a natural glow instead, or rock your natural paleness.

  • Brightly Colored Eyeshadow

Any extreme, unnatural color on your lids or lining your eyes is a don’t. Heavy black shadow isn’t desirable for a date either. Keep the dark liners and shadows to a minimum. Instead use shadows that compliment your eye color and use a brown or thin black liner. You don’t want your make up to distract away from your naturally beautiful eyes.

  • Fake Eyelashes

Heavy, fake eyelashes, while acceptable in certain situations, are overkill on a date. The last thing you want is for your lashes to fall off at the dinner table. Stick to your regular mascara.

  • Bleached Brows

Bleached brows rob your face of a natural frame. Let your brows stay their natural color. If you already have bleached brows then you can fill them in using a liner close to your natural color or have a professional dye them back to normal.

  • Embellishments

Rhinestones may look fabulous on the runway, but they’re not appropriate for a date. Save the bling for costume parties.

  • Unnatural Lip Color

Skip an intense lip. Instead of red, hot pink, or super dark lips, opt for a natural shade, with a hint of color, that won’t show up on your teeth, glass, or date’s lips.

The best date makeup is pretty, natural, and showcases you. When your makeup doesn't overpower or make a statement, your date can appreciate your natural beauty.
