Spider Man and Iron Man are examples of quick-witted heroes, but they pale in comparison to Deadpool when it comes to humor. Because he never takes himself too seriously, Deadpool is unleashing a constant barrage of jokes, even in the midst of battle. When you open his comic, you know that you are in for at least a few laughs.

Deadpool has a twisted desire for anything violent. He has absolutely no problem getting his hands dirty, even if it means ending someone’s life. This ever-growing body count would make many heroes with moral codes shudder. (We're looking at you, Batman.)

How often do you hear Superman drop the f-bomb? Deadpool's potty mouth challenges the idea that comic books are just wholesome entertainment for kids and adds to the humor he brings to the table. You don’t expect to hear a superhero spewing curse words, which is why some moviegoers will be surprised when they learn that strong language is one of the reasons the Deadpool movie is rated R.

Rather than stopping bank robberies and rescuing old ladies from burning buildings, Deadpool doesn’t go into action unless he is invested in it. His idea of justice isn’t wrapped up in helping people; he simply goes with his gut, even when that puts him outside of the law.

Deadpool is very aware that he is in a comic book, and he wants to give his audience a good show. This often includes him cracking jokes simply for the reader’s benefit and even openly critiquing the choices of comic book artists.

Since Deadpool is such a trickster, when you dress up as him at a comic book convention you’re pretty much expected to mess with people. This is especially fun when you are surrounded by other superheroes. As Deadpool, you can take them down a notch and get away with it.

While other superheroes are often moody and brooding (Looking at you again, Batman.) Deadpool’s constant optimism makes him endearing. He has weaseled his way out of so many tight spots that it is pretty difficult to scare him. Even in the face of danger, Deadpool never stops screwing around. What’s more, he is clever enough to know how to free himself from tough situations.

Because he knows who his audience members are, Deadpool is able to relate to them. He is constantly making references to other comic books and science fiction movies. So, if you are a dorky kid at heart who loves Star Trek, you will be able to connect with Deadpool over a shared culture.

Even the most feared villains don’t want to go up against Deadpool. In fact, they are normally impressed by his skills in combat. It’s nearly impossible to kill him, so when you pick a fight with Deadpool, you know that the odds are always in his favor. Plus, villians know that he doesn’t really take them seriously.

We know you started this slideshow under the premise that Deadpool is unlike any other superhero, but the truth is he's something different altogether. Deadpool embodies what it means to be an anti-hero. He knows how to work well with a team, but that is rarely his style. He always fights for what he believes in, even when it doesn’t align with the wants and needs of those around him.
