10 Romantic Movies That Are Actually Creepy

1. '50 First Dates'

1. '50 First Dates'

Why do people think that a womanizer courting a woman without the ability to form new memories is swoon-worthy? She literally doesn’t know what’s going on and has to wake up every morning to relearn what happened in her life. He basically never has to worry about consequences because she forgets every fight or argument they have. Totally not fair!

2. 'Twilight'

2. 'Twilight'

There’s nothing romantic about a 200-year-old vampire sneaking into the bedroom of the teenage human he wants to love (and feed on) in order to watch her sleep. Stalkers aren’t romantic.

3. 'Sleepless in Seattle'

3. 'Sleepless in Seattle'

While the premise is sweet (a little boy is trying to help his dad find love after his mom dies), the story is too strange for my taste. The father, Sam, goes on the radio to talk about losing his wife, and then Annie falls in love with his voice all the way from New York. She writes him a letter inviting him to meet her at the top of the Empire State Building, and after a few missed chances they eventually meet. Right before the credits roll, they’re holding hands. They barely know each other! Are they crazy?

4. 'Ghost'

4. 'Ghost'

Push all of the action and suspense to the side for a second. The ghost, Sam, possesses the body of a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg) in order to slow dance and make out with his living lover. Girl on girl is fine and all, but the bodily possession part is not romantic in any way, shape, or form.

5. 'The Time Traveler's Wife'

5. 'The Time Traveler's Wife'

The problem with this movie is that Clare was only 6 when she first met 30-year-old Henry. Meaning he already knew who she would grow up to be and that befriending her would make her fall in love with him. He knew what would happen, and he didn’t even try to let Clare have a say in the matter. Controlling much?

6. 'Return to Me'

6. 'Return to Me'

Essentially, a man falls in love with the woman who received a heart donation from his dead wife. Of course, he didn't know it at the time, and when the truth is discovered everyone freaks out. The two decide they want to be together anyway. It’s kind of sweet, but it also leaves you with the uncomfortable question, “Does he love the woman or the heart?”

7. 'While You Were Sleeping'

7. 'While You Were Sleeping'

A woman pretends to be the fiancée of a man in a coma, falls in love with his brother, and then lets the confused hospital patient propose to her because he thinks he has amnesia. It’s not romantic, it’s messed up. Love should not be built on lies.

8. 'Dirty Dancing'

Baby was barely 17-years-old while Johnny was in his mid-twenties. Do you still think their adult relationship is so romantic? I didn’t think so!

9. 'Her'

A man falling in love with the voice on his smartphone is also not romantic. It’s weirder than weird. Is this what our society has come to?

10. '50 Shades of Gray'

10. '50 Shades of Gray'

Take away all of the glamourous clothing, cars, and wild sex. All you have left is an emotionally abusive relationship. Christian Gray is a powerful, wealthy man who stalks and brainwashes the very innocent Ana. Still want to find your own real-life Christian?
