Will Smith & Martin Lawrence
Films Together: Bad Boys, Bad Boys II, Bad Boys for Life
Before the first Bad Boys film was released in 1995, both Martin Lawrence and Will Smith were successful, household Hollywood names. No one could have suspected that the two would turn into one of the most successful film duos of all time. During production of Bad Boys, Lawrence was looking for the perfect costar for his comedy/action film. He told Ellen DeGeneres in 2019 that Will got the job within the first five minutes of their first meeting.
Meg Ryan & Tom Hanks
Films Together: Joe Versus the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, Ithaca
These two were the top romantic comedy duo of the 1990s with their warm, sweet, and simple romances and now they are the most recognizable onscreen duos in film history. The two have said that it was clear from their first film, 1990's Joe Versus the Volcano—which required Ryan to play three separate characters—that the pair made true-blue onscreen magic together.
Seth Rogan & James Franco
Films Together: Sausage Party, The Sound and the Fury, The Disaster Artist, Zeroville, Knocked Up, The Green Hornet, The Interview, The Night Before, This is the End, Pineapple Express, etc.
The two originally met in 1999 on the set of Freaks and Geeks, playing best friends Ken and Daniel—and the rest, as they say, is history. Although the two went their separate ways for a few years after the show was canceled, they reunited in 2007 to make Knocked Up.
Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly
Films Together: Talladega Nights: The Ricky Bobby Story, Step Brothers, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Holmes & Watson
John C. Reilly has been known to say that the first time he met Will Ferrell he realized that working together was “why we were put on this Earth.” And apparently the whole world agrees. Ever since working together on Talladega Nights, this dynamic duo has paired up successfully four more times to wide audiences and high box office sales each time.
Simon Pegg & Nick Frost
Films Together: Hot Fuzz, Grindhouse, Shaun of the Dead, The World's End, The Adventures of TinTin, Paul, etc.
They’ve been best friends for almost 30 years but didn’t start acting together until Simon wrote a role into his new show, Spaced, in 1999 specifically for Frost. Since then, the British duo have worked on many projects together, but it was 2004s zombie-spoof Shaun of the Dead that turned them into a household name.
Joe Pesci & Robert DeNiro
Films Together: Casino, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, A Bronx Tale, Once Upon a Time in America, The Good Shepherd, The Irishman
Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci have captured audiences and held their attention for a total of four decades. Since the release of Raging Bull in 1980, it seems that audiences just can’t get enough of these two together. As a matter of fact, this duo have worked on seven total films including their most recent, 2019’s The Irishman.
Adam Sandler & Rob Schneider

Since meeting in the late '80s at one of Sandler’s early standup shows, the two have not only appeared on Saturday Night Live for several seasons together, but in the past twenty years they have also worked together on 18 films. 1998’s The two take turns appearing in each other’s films as support roles. We think our favorite is Rob’s guest appearance in 50 First Dates!
Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence

Fans and film critics alike love to see these two on screen together. Their first film together, Silver Linings Playbook, was nominated for a total of eight Oscars, winning Lawrence her first for Best Actress. Their second film together, American Hustle, went on to earn 10 Oscar nominations. Cooper says that although they don’t communicate much off set, when they do reunite it’s like they never left.
Ryan Gosling & Emma Stone
Films Together: La La Land, Crazy Stupid Love, & Gangster Squad
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are such good friends in real life, that their film chemistry jumps off the screen right at us lesser mortals. Their biggest success so far has been La La Land, which received 14 Oscar nominations, winning six including Emma Stone’s first for Best Actress. When the two worked together on their first film, Crazy Stupid Love, they were asked to improvise their parts and the two created their connection. Ryan Gosling told ABC a few years ago that they’ve “been really lucky to work that way” ever since.
Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter
Films Together: Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dark Shadows, The Lone Ranger
Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp work together so frequently that we are more surprised when they appear in a film without each other. Especially if it’s a Tim Burton film. Between 2005 and 2016, this duo has acted in seven movies together, always playing the quirkiest characters in some of Tim Burton’s quirkiest films.
Drew Barrymore & Adam Sandler
Films Together: The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Blended
To date, this duo has only appeared onscreen together three times between 1998 and 2014, but all three films were wildly popular and have left us wanting more. As a matter of fact, Drew Barrymore told People Magazine that she’s dying to make another movie with Sandler as recently as 2019. She said, “We’ve done it three times now, so we know we have more to go.”
Woody Harrelson & Matthew McConaughey
Films Together: The Newton Boys, EDtv, Surfer Dude, and Welcome to Hollywood
While many will recognize this duo from HBO's True Detective series, these two have a history that goes way, way back to 1998 when they worked on their first film together, The Newton Boys. Since then, these two hotties have graced us onscreen three more times, in addition to the gift of True Detectives.
Vince Vaughn & Jon Favreau
Films Together: Just Your Luck, Made, Couples Retreat, Term Life, The Break-Up, Rudy, Wild West Comedy Show, Four Christmases, Swingers
These two became fast friends on the set of Rudy in 1993, when they worked together for the first time. So how do they continue to successfully fill the theaters? In an interview in 2001, Vaughn told the Chicago Tribune that “The challenge is to present our friendship in a way that’s real, but to still tell a story with it and use it as a tool.”
Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
Films Together: Dogma, Glory Daze, Jersey Girl, Field of Dreams, School Ties, Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, etc.
It’s possible that these two have such a great onscreen presence because they’ve been best friends since the age of 10, when they met in elementary school. Although they’ve been acting in films together since 1992s School Ties, they shot to super-stardom when they wrote, directed, and acted together in Good Will Hunting, winning several Academy Awards for their work and we’ve been reaping the benefits of their on and off-screen bromance ever since.
Chris Evans & Scarlett Johannsson
Films Together: The Score, The Nanny Diaries, The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity Wars, Avengers: End Game
We know what you’re thinking: "Duh! They’ve appeared in seven Marvel Comics Universe films together!" However, this dynamic duo goes way back even further than the first Avengers film. They have actually appeared together in a total of nine films since 2004 and we have it on good authority that they’ll both be making an appearance together in the upcoming Little Shop of Horrors remake.
