25 Celebrities Who've Lost Their Homes in the Recent Wildfires

The wildfires currently sweeping through Los Angeles have caused widespread devastation, leaving destruction in their wake and displacing thousands of residents. When fires first broke out, singer and actress Mandy Moore shared her gratitude on Instagram, writing, "Grateful for the kindness of friends that we had a place to land last night. Trying to shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry I feel. Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don't know if our place made it."

After her home was destroyed, she shared another update on January 8: "I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family. My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too. Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control."

This is Us and Gilmore Girls star Milo Ventimiglia's home was burnt completely in the recent fires. CBS news caught footage of the soon-to-be father walking through the charred remains of his home. “Your heart just breaks.” He and his pregnant wife, Jarah Mariano, managed to evacuate before the devastation, yet saw their home burn on security cameras, including their brand new crib. 

“There’s a kind of shock moment where you’re going, ‘Oh, this is real. This is happening.’ What good is it to continue watching?’ And then at a certain point we just turned it off, like ‘What good is it to continue watching?’”

TV host and actress Ricki Lake claimed that she knew her house would burn down in the L.A. fires because a psychic, Tyler Henry, told her about it months ago. During an episode of Live from the Other Side, Henry told her, "Trying to articulate this without it sounding concerning. ... there was a loss [of] material objects from fire and water... There was a house fire." 

On Instagram, she wrote, "[Henry] called it! Less than three months ago, on Oct 15th, 2024 Ross and I were on Tyler’s show and guys, he SAW the fire." In another post, she shared her sorrow alongside a carousel of photos: "It’s all gone. I can’t believe I am typing these words. ... We never took our heavenly spot on the bluff overlooking our beloved malibu for granted, not even for one second. I shared our sunset views almost daily with all of you."

The Oscar-winning actor lost his $6 million Pacific Palisades home in the recent California wildfires. He shared a poignant message on social media, stating,

Grey's daughter Stella Gregg nnounced on her Instagram Stories that the actress's home was "burnt to the ground." She clarified that her mother and pet dog Winni were safe and encouraged everyone to "give your loved ones an extra squeeze today."

Roseanne actor John Goodman was one among hundreds of victims who lost their house in the recent L.A. fire.s His home, worth $4.6 million, was "reduced to ashes" after fires ravaged Pacific Palisades during an unprecedented wind storm, according to the Daily Mail

Not even one room was spared from the flames. He purchased the home in 200, and it had five bedrooms, five bathrooms, and 5,250 square feet of living space.

According to People, "[Goodman's] residence was only a pile of debris, surrounded by downed power lines and trees, in photos taken on Jan. 8. It was unclear if Goodman was in the city at the time of the evacuation order, as he and his wife Beth split their time between L.A. and New Orleans."

Goodman has not commented on the devastation so far.  We can assume that he is safe, but probably not doing well.

Actor Eugene Levy found himself trapped in his neighborhood as the fires raged around him, he told the L.A. Times. “The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon,” Levy told The Times by phone. “I couldn’t see any flames but the smoke was very dark.”

Levy's son Dan shared his sadness online: "Heartbroken for my family, my friends, and the people of LA affected by the catastrophic fires.” Levy is regarded as the honorary mayor of the Palisades and lost his $3.9 million home.

Actor Joshua Jackson grew up in the Los Angeles home that he recently lost in the 2025 Pacific Palisades fire. H.s publicist confirmed that the house in Topanga Canyon is completely burnt in an email to USA Today.

Jackson also confirmed the safety of his family in the statement, writing, "First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK. My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly, my beautiful home did not survive the fires, but today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love."

Julianne Hough shared her experience with the fires on Instagram stories, saying, "So, there is a fire right by my house. We’re with friends, but anybody that’s in the Hollywood Hills, I’ve just been having this intuitive feeling that we’re in a bowl of how everything is surrounding Hollywood, and now this is at the center of Hollywood... Everybody needs to just evacuate. Go, go, go, go, go. Right now," 

Later, she shared an update in a car with her dog, Sunny. “Sunny and I are safe and we’re driving, but the reason why I say ‘evacuate now’ even if it’s not close to you, if you have somewhere to go, because: There’s traffic. And you’re gonna be stuck in traffic. And that is not good. So everybody, just please be safe and send prayers to all of the first responders and firefighters and just come together — you know, like, all you can do is be there for each other.”

Socialite and businesswoman Paris Hilton suffered a significant loss when her Malibu mansion was destroyed by the recent wildfires. Hilton shared her heartbreak on Instagram, revealing the home held sentimental value as it's where her son took his first steps:

Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience. This home was where we built so many precious memories.   • Provide cash assistance to families via emergency relief organization 
  • Provide short-term housing and hotel stays for families with little ones

"This is the last pic I took of Leah's rock from my beach house. I've had this house for almost 30 years. It looks like it was lost in the fire last nite. The animals and the rescue ranch are OK tho which is the most important thing. Stay safe everyone."

Actress Anna Farris, known for her comedic roles in films like Scary Movie and the sitcom Mom, was also impacted by the wildfires. This loss comes at a challenging time for Faris, who has been open about her personal and professional journey as a single mother.

“Anna and her family are safe and very grateful," a representative told PEOPLE on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. According to the Associated Press, the Palisades fire is being declared the most destructive in the history of Los Angeles County.

Farris' now-destroyed home was a 4,000-square-foot mansion that she purchased in 2019 for nearly $5 million. According to Architectural Digest and reported by Yahoo!News, her home was "originally built as a spec house before undergoing a transformation into a sustainable, LEED-certified property. It boasted solar-powered utilities, an advanced water filtration and recycling system, and a garage equipped with a Tesla charger."

She purchased the home after her ex-husband Chris Pratt divorced her. Pratt shared his thoughts on Instagram:  "Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires. Los Angeles is in a state of emergency and over 30,000 have been ordered to evacuate."

Actress Maria Shriver shared her devastation in a video posted on Instagram: "Heartbreaking, devastating beyond belief. Everything is gone. Our neighborhood, our restaurants. All our friends have lost everything. We have evacuated but are safe. But people have lost everything.

“The firefighters have and are doing their best, but this fire is massive and out of control, and now there are multiple fires burning across Los Angeles,” Shriver continued. "We in this city will put our arms around one another.”

James Woods

James Woods is an actor known for his outspoken political views, publicly shared his experience evacuating his home during the wildfires. While known for his controversial opinions, Woods's account provides a firsthand glimpse into the fear and uncertainty faced by residents during these catastrophic events. 

On January 7, he wrote on X, "To all the wonderful people who’ve reached out to us, thank you for being so concerned. Just letting you know that we were able to evacuate successfully. I do not know at this moment if our home is still standing, but sadly houses on our little street are not." He later updated CNN that his home was destroyed. "One day you're swimming in the pool, the next day it's all gone."

Celebrity couple Leighton Meester and Adam Brody lost their $6.5 million home to the fires on January 8, 2025. Neither have addressed the discussion so far, but plenty of footage has been released of the 6,000 sq ft home burning to the ground. 

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are a prominent Hollywood couple. Meester achieved fame for her role as Blair Waldorf in the teen drama Gossip Girl, while Brody is best known for his portrayal of Seth Cohen in The O.C. Both have enjoyed successful careers in film and television. This devastating loss comes as a shock to the couple who share two young children.

Actor Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh lost their shared home in Pacific Palisades along with hundreds of others in the recent fires. Keleigh wrote a heartfelt statement on Instagram:

Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles is another celebrity victim of the recent fires in California. She shared an emotional statement to her fans on social media, writing, "This is what I was looking at on my birthday this past weekend from my tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu!"
 She attached a video she took of three dolphins swimming in the Malibu water.

"It was my favorite place, my sanctuary , my sacred Happy Place . Now it is gone. God Bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions. ... To the people who lost their homes and belongings , I can only imagine how it feels to lose properties and everything you own ! My heart and deep prayers go out to all of you I cannot imagine the pain and suffering and fear that you are enduring.”

Spencer and Heidi Pratt's Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles was one of the first victims of the L.A. wildfires that started Tuesday, January 7. The couple successfully evacuated with their family, but the house "burned to the ground," according to TMZ. An insider reported that the couple is obviously “devastated."

They are a reality television power couple who rose to fame on MTV's The Hills. Their often dramatic and controversial personalities, frequently referred to as "Speidi," captivated audiences. They married in 2009 and have since expanded their family.

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson

Gibson's Malibu estate was severely damaged in the 2018 Woolsey Fire. He has been a vocal critic of environmental regulations and has faced criticism for his development plans on his property. Now, his house has finally succumbed to the L.A. flames. 

According to WBALTV 11, his home burnt to the ground while he was recording a podcast with Joe Rogan in Austin, Texas. Luckily, he wasn't home or injured from the fires, but it's shocking to leave home and return to ashes and rubble.  His girlfriend was also unharmed.

During a telephone interview with NewsNation, Gibson shared the following thoughts: "Obviously, it's kind of devastating. It's emotional. You live there for a long time, and you had all your stuff. You remember George Carlin talking about your stuff? I had my stuff there, and it's all like, I've been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it's all in cinders.

"When I got home, sure enough, [the house] wasn't there. I went home and I said to myself, 'Well, at least I haven’t got any of those pesky plumbing problems anymore. I have never seen a place so perfectly burned. You could put it in an urn."

Rosie O'Donnell shared multiple TikTok videos since the fires broke up, updating her fans that she was "still in L.A." but plans on leaving for New York. In another video, she shared harrowing footage of the Pacific Coast Highway, writing, "on pch in malibu - the whole of beach front homes gone - including the one i lived in 2 years ago - rental home - my home rental in santa monica is ok too."

"I've loved living in L.A. I've love the weather, and I've loved my friends... My heart will always be broken for this place, you know, really, it always will. It will take years, maybe a decade, to have things to where it was if that's even possible...  The things you learn when you've been through a massive fire like this."

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis shared a quick update on Instagram after the fires tore through her neighborhood. "Our beloved neighborhood is gone. Our home is safe. So many others have lost everything. Help where you can. Thank you to the first responders and firefighters." Her home was spared, but her community is decimated. She has pledged over $1 million in aid. 

In a later post, she remembered a beloved church that succumbed to the flames. "This is the church in the Palisades that had a beautiful Sunday school and school and was a gorgeous house of worship and is the building that I got sober in 25 years ago. I think of all of the souls who came there for comfort and solace and all the baptisms and funerals and weddings and the thousands of people who reclaimed their lives through Sobriety. ... Tough times. We will persevere. God bless you all."

British actress Kate Beckinsale also faced the devastating consequences of the wildfires. On Instagram, she wrote the following statement: "Hearing the winds last night I prayed . I knew it would be bad- we had to evacuate many times during our life there - but the shock at the whole of the Palisades being destroyed is unthinkably horrific. My daughter and I lived there for most of her childhood and most of her childhood is gone.

"Her primary school, every shop or restaurant we used to go to with my parents and Michael’s parents -and devastatingly, most of her friends homes.My heart is broken. The Pacific Palisades is a community very unusual to find in Los Angeles, heavy on families with young children and pets... If anyone from village needs shelter and doesn’t still have a number for me, please contact me on Instagram."
