30 Actors You Won't Believe Haven't Won an Oscar

Peter O'Toole

You may remember Peter O’Toole from his role in Lawrence of Arabia, My Favorite Year, and The Lion in the Winter. Few actors have reached the same prestige as this man, but somehow the Academy never awarded him an Oscar. He acted in 99 movies and television series, which is quite the resume. If you ask us, he should have won an award for Best Actor after Lawrence of Arabia released. The film did win Best Picture and Director, but Peter O’Toole was left out.

The Academy did eventually give him an Honorary Oscar in 2002, but it isn’t the same. Even O’Toole balked at accepting the prize because he felt like they were pushing him out early. He wanted to win it outright. We love his stubbornness, but, unfortunately, he passed away in 2013 before he was able to secure a win.

Mickey Rooney

Mickey Rooney was about as iconic as Hollywood itself, and it’s a shame he passed before he was able to get his Oscar. We’ll still love him for his legacy, and he has an Oscar in my heart.

Glenn Close

Glenn Close is one of the best actresses of our time, and she’s been nominated SIX times. Let’s hope your seventh is the win, Glenn.

Annette Bening

Annette Bening isn’t on the big screen as much as she used to be, but she’s displayed some talent. With four nominations, she’s proved time and time again she deserves that little golden man.

Richard Burton

Richard Burton deserves an Oscar for his voice alone. He was as skilled as Laurence Olivier, but somehow never walked off with an Oscar before his passing.

Amy Adams

Can we talk about Amy Adams talent? Her role as Sydney Prosser in American Hustle was the best thing I’ve ever seen, and I also loved her in Nocturnal Animals.

Sigourney Weaver

Sigourney Weaver deserves an Oscar for looking as beautiful as she is. This classy lady showed women they could be strong and independent in Alien, and she was a total boss in Avatar, but still no Oscar. Academy, we’re about to fight.

Warren Beatty

Let’s go over the great films Warren Beatty’s been in: Bonnie and Clyde, Heaven Can Wait, Bugsy. Is it some kind of JOKE that he doesn’t have an Oscar? I’m not laughing.

Bradley Cooper

In addition to being one of the hottest guys in Hollywood, Bradley Cooper has some serious talent too. He can do serious, like in the case of American Sniper, and he can do funny roles – Silver Linings Playbook, hello?!

Johnny Depp

Captain Jack Sparrow is an icon, but I’m old school and will always remember him as Sam in Benny & June. Can you believe he wasn’t even nominated for this role?

Ian McKellen

Sir Ian McKellen is one of the greatest actors and PEOPLE of our time. His role as Gandalf alone was emotional and heartfelt. You know you cried when you thought he died. Still, just two nominations and no wins.

Ralph Fiennes

Is there a best villain category? Ralph Fiennes defined villains for nearly everyone that was born in the 80s and 90s, and he wasn’t even nominated for playing Voldemort!

Alan Rickman

When Alan Rickman passed, the world mourned. What makes me sadder was that he was never even nominated for an Oscar.

Samuel L. Jackson

For how much everyone loves Samuel L. Jackson, it’s shocking he doesn’t have an Oscar. He claims it’s politics, and at this point, I may have to agree.

Harrison Ford

After his roles in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford only has one nomination. Whatever. He won at life because he got to spend time with Carrie Fisher.

Mia Farrow

Mia was an icon of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and you’d be lying if you said Rosemary’s Baby didn’t scare the crap out of you. For all that, she hasn’t even gotten a single nomination.

Edward Norton

From drama to comedy, Norton can do it all. He can play heroes, villains, carry a film, and do an entire movie under a mask. He can make you hate him and love him, but he can’t make the Academy love him enough for an Oscar.

Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix is dedicated and a fantastic actor. He seems to lose himself in his roles. Just take a look at The Master and Her. He may not care if he has an Oscar, but I do.

Helena Bonham Carter

She's Tim Burton’s leading actress, and she’s got some great talent. She took on the feat of Queen Elizabeth in The King’s Speech and showed that she could do whatever you throw at her. Her roles are unforgettable, so why is she forgotten at the Oscars?

Robert Downey Jr.

Despite his rough start in Hollywood at the beginning of his career, Robert Downey Jr. needs an Oscar like I need air. Okay, maybe that’s a little over-the-top, but you get the gist.

Liam Neeson

Neeson is one of the hardest working actors in all of Hollywood. He had seven projects in 2016 alone. If he doesn’t get an Oscar soon, he has a particular set of skills that may get him one.

Bill Murray

Bill Murray may not care if he gets an Oscar, but he deserves one. Maybe his movie The Isle of Dogs will earn him that little golden man. He was nominated for Lost in Translation, but it went to Sean Penn instead.

Oscar Isaac

Oscar Isaac has been in some of the biggest films of the last few years including Star Wars, X-Men, and Ex Machina. Can you believe that he hasn’t even been nominated for an Oscar! Maybe 2018 will give him the trophy he deserves.

Zoe Saldana

It doesn’t matter the role, Zoe Saldana can own it. She can do drama, horror, action, and comedy, but all that isn’t enough for an Oscar.

Liev Schreiber

So, Liev Schreiber can do drama (Spotlight) and comedy (The Ten), but apparently, he doesn’t even deserve an Oscar nomination? At least the Screen Actors Guild understood his importance and gave him an award.

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman blew us away in Les Misérables and made us cry in Logan. He even HOSTED the Oscars, but they won’t give him one? Something’s afoot!

Gene Wilder

The legendary Gene Wilder starred in some of the best films that have ever been produced. Willy Wonka and Young Frankenstein are just two, but neither got him an Oscar. This is an injustice.

David Oyelowo

The Academy may not recognize David Oyelowo’s talent, but at least Brad Pitt did. That’s precisely why he got the main role in Nightingale, but somehow he didn’t win at the Emmys either. We cherish you David Oyelowo.

Will Smith

The Oscars are flawed if Will Smith can’t even get an Oscar. He’s received two nominees but lost to Denzel Washington in Training Day. Alright. I guess that’s fair, but how can he lose after The Pursuit of Happyness?!

Ed Harris

With roles in Apollo 13The Truman Show, Pollock, and The Hours, Harris has FOUR Oscar nominations without any wins. Surely he's bound to win one soon!
