It’s no secret that tattoos are permanent. If someone is going to get inked, they are most likely aware of the fact that they’ll have that image on their body forever—unless they want to go through the painful and expensive process of laser removal. What some people might not know, however, is that it’s worth it—and highly recommended—to find a talented artist with good reviews and a clean shop.

Sometimes, tattoos are tacky on purpose. People have been known to get memes or jokes tattooed on their bodies. Maybe the “bad tattoo” is just something you regret, like an ex-lover’s name. Other times, the artist messes up so bad you can’t even tell what the tattoo was supposed to look like.

We’ve put together a collection of some of the worst tattoos you can find. These bad works of body art come in a variety of styles and sizes, ranging from small and shaky to big, wildly inaccurate portraits that don’t look anything like the person they’re modeled after. If you are ready to laugh, cringe, and be grateful these tattoos aren’t yours, then keep reading to see 50 of the boldest tattoo fails.

Portraits are one of the hardest styles to do for tattoos, which is why you should find a good artist with a strong background in portraiture. You don't want a tattoo of your favorite celeb to turn out like this tattoo of Michael Jackson.

Scary...but not as scary as the real thing.

Also, that quote? "He touched so many." That didn't age well. Or maybe it did--depending on how sick your sense of humor is.
