30 Creepiest People in Hollywood

Hollywood has brought us entertainment for over a century. Heck, most of us probably grew up in front of a screen watching our favorite actors. We grew up with them! From Charlie Chaplin to Brad Pitt, we love to go to the theater or sit at home and watch amazing films.

There’s no doubt that Hollywood has a plethora of colorful characters, and that’s what makes the entertainment so good (and sometimes the tabloids too). We have stars like Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon, who stole our hearts playing girl-next-door sweethearts we could trust. Unfortunately, for every one of those, we have celebs who are so out-there that their face is enough to make our skin crawl.

However, the story isn't so nice for everyone. For others, it’s something much darker, and something that Hollywood would rather keep on the down-low. Recently, we’ve learned that there’s another side of Hollywood that keeps harassment and abuse behind the curtain. As long as it's not in the public eye, they just don't care. Some of these people have done some seriously messed up things that caused them to be rejected from Hollywood completely. The sad thing is, some of them were only recently discovered as being not-so-great human beings.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise is super creepy and weird, and we all realized this when he hopped on Oprah’s couch in 2005. What really makes him weird is the fact that he’s an avid Scientologist.

His “religion” has caused issues in almost all of his relationships. Most notably, Katie Holmes divorced the movie star to protect the couple’s daughter Suri from Scientology.

Russell Brand

Russell Brand

Like, come on. If you don't Russell Brand has been one of the creepiest people in Hollywood before reading this article, we don't know what to tell you. Ever since divorcing Katy Perry over text and his self-described "addictions," all of the allegations coming out against him from countless women aren't surprising in the least.

Other creepy men support Brand despite the allegations, but countless more publicly celebrate the "sleazebag" coming to justice, including Kathy Griffin and Amy Schumer. Who else would know how creepy Brand is than his peers in Hollywood? Let's say, we hope his behavior is finally put to rest after the upcoming trial.

Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey was an acting favorite for decades, but all that is in the past. Now, he’s one of the creepiest people in Hollywood. Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted Anthony Rapp while he was 14.

Others soon came out, admitting that they had been sexually assaulted by Kevin Spacey. Spacey then released a sorry excuse for an apology that focused more on the fact that he wanted to live as a gay man rather than apologizing for assaulting a minor. A couple of his victims have since taken their own lives.

Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher and wife Mila Kunis have been fan favorites since their time on That '70s Show. Eventually, the pair married and became a Hollywood power couple. Sure, they make some weird parenting decisions (why don't they bathe their kids again?), but nothing they've done is inherently offensive... That is, until they defended former costar Danny Masterson during his r**e trial...

So, Masterson is definitely guilty, which is super incriminating for Kutcher. What skeletons is he hiding in his closet? In fact, he resigned from his position his anti-trafficking organization Thorn due to the pressure. It takes two seconds of digging on Google to see his weird behavior in interviews...

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie

Before Angelina Jolie was a mother of six, she had a much different personality. She had a weird relationship with her brother that included kissing him on the red carpet.

When she accepted her award that year, she professed love for him in a (possibly) not so platonic way. Jolie was also in a relationship with Billy Bob Thornton, and they kept a vial of blood around their necks. Gross and creepy.

Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein was creepy before the reports of sexual assault by numerous women. Apparently, it was Hollywood’s worst kept secret, which is evident from Seth MacFarlane’s 2013 Oscars joke.

After reading the nominees for Best Supporting Actress, MacFarlane said, “Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein.” Later, MacFarlane explained how he’d heard one of his friends told him about the numerous advances from Weinstein.

Jared Leto

Jared Leto

Jared Leto has always been a little… strange. All of his oddities came to light when he was getting into character as Joker for The Suicide Squad.

His co-stars reported that during filming, they received creepy gifts including a live rat for Margot Robbie, a box of bullets for Will Smith, and a video that included a dead hog for the whole cast.

Courtney Love

Courtney Love

Courtney Love has done her share of horrible things including falsely accusing Dave Grohl of seducing her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, but that’s just the start of it.

Courtney Love has a weird obsession with noses, and she has admitted that she’s “all about mating for a nose.” She’s also not afraid to flash audiences at other people’s concerts and show up drunk and naked to interviews.

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter is a fantastic actress, but what’s with all the creepy lady roles? From Marla in Fight Club to Bellatrix in Harry Potter, she takes roles most actresses would avoid.

She was married to Tim Burton (also creepy), but the couple didn’t act like a normal couple. They had separate areas, and he would visit her occasionally. She states, “You never have to compromise emotionally or feel invaded.”

Jackie Earle Haley

Jackie Earle Haley

Jackie Earle Haley hasn’t done anything creepy per say, but he has played roles that made audiences question what’s going on.

Many of his roles involve him playing creepy, child molester-y characters. That alone is enough to land him on this list for its creep factor.

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic/Getty Images

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is hilarious, but his weird behavior comes off super creepy. Other than his creepy demeanor, he also buys a lot of stuff most wouldn’t imagine buying. For example, he purchased an octopus to help improve his acting supposedly.

He’s also known for his temper, and he had a major freak-out in Bucharest with him saying he’d “die of honor” and “I’ll die right now!!” except there were a few expletives added.

James Franco

James Franco

James Franco hasn’t had an excellent record in the past. What makes him creepy is the fact that he has texted 17-year-old fans to meet at a hotel. He sent screenshots to the girl, including some suggestive photos.

Franco's also known for asking for nudity in his movies. One former actress explained how he got angry when the women refused to do a nude scene, which isn’t okay for someone in his position.

Andy Dick

Andy Dick

Andy Dick was sort of famous in the 90s, but his popularity lasted about as long as Pauly Shore. Saying he was off in his movies is just an understatement to explain what audiences had to sit through, but things got worse as he got older.

Apparently, he blames a lot of his problems on Jeff Goldblum because he stole the love of his life. Furthermore, he pours his heart out to anyone that is willing to listen. The worst thing is that he shows his genitals to anyone and everyone.

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicholson

Jack Nicolson is an acting icon, but something is a little off about him. At the 2013 Oscars, he hit on the much-younger Jennifer Lawrence during an interview by sneaking up behind her.

Some of his most famous roles involve him playing a mentally unstable character, something that can’t be far off from his actual personality. We’d hate to know how he tapped into his role for The Shining.

Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick demanded perfection in his movies, and he managed this in different ways. For The Shining, he psychologically abused Shelley Duvall for a more realistic terrified performance.

Making the film caused so much stress that Duvall became physically stressed for months, and her hair began falling out. At one point, Kubrick made Duvall and Nicholson act out some scenes 127 times.

Woody Allen

Woody Allen

Woody Allen’s movies are strange and involve adults getting into relationships with teens. In real life, it isn’t much different, except there isn’t any actual romance.

Dylan Farrow, Allen’s adoptive daughter, has repeatedly said Allen sexually assaulted her at the age of seven. Furthermore, he married another one of his adopted daughters, Soon-Yi Previn, around the time he left Mia Farrow in the early ‘90s.

Michael Bay

Michael Bay

Michael Bay isn’t a great person and is known for being an incredibly strict director, but it’s worse than it seems on the surface.

Megan Fox explained on Jimmy Kimmel saying that when she was only 15 years old, Bay had her wear a stars and stripes bikini and six-inch heels while dancing underneath a waterfall.

Victor Salva

Victor Salva

Victor Salva is the director of the Jeepers Creepers franchise and a man who was convicted of child molestation in 1988. Salva abused and had illicit photographs of the 12-year-old star of his film Clownhouse.

As if that isn’t enough, Salva recently released Jeepers Creepers 3... And, honestly, we prefer to be left in ignorance for the rest of his goings on.

Roman Polanski

Roman Polanski

In 1978, Roman Polanski fled the United States while waiting for final sentencing following his trial for sexually assaulting a minor.

Six years later, he released an autobiography that described the events in astonishing detail. Saying that this man is creepy doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface.

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson has been on a steady decline into madness. He’s incredibly creepy and makes a pastime of crossing the line.

One of his favorite hobbies is harassing women by calling them profane names, which we’re defining as creepy. The rest of it is just disgusting behavior.

Kris Jenner

Kris Jenner

Who could forget everyone's (least) favorite "momager" Kris Jenner? She rose to fame with the rest of her family thanks to their wildly successful reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. There's nary a person that appeared on the series that wasn't totally annoying, but Jenner took things further and got creepy.

And just what's so creepy about her? It's the way she always seemed to want to be one of the girls instead of mom to the girls. She's not the first parent to want to be friends with their kids, but she seems so invested in winning her daughters' approval that things start to get weird. And let's not mention the plastic surgery she's used to emulate her daughters' iconic Kardashian look.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga

Creepy or not, Lady Gaga has managed to create a ridiculously successful career for herself in the music business. Between numerous awards for her work, to the fact that she's one of the best-selling artists of all time, there's no denying that she knows a thing or two about music. And there's also no denying that the woman is flat-out bonkers

Where do we even begin with Lady Gaga? Maybe the all-meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards? Or what about her plans to create a perfume using her own blood? There was also the time she got a tattoo on stage at one of her concerts. Take your pick — Lady Gaga is nothing if not bizarre

Randy Quaid

Randy Quaid

Most people these days don't even know who Randy Quaid is. And for those that do, you almost certainly only remember him as cousin Eddie in the National Lampoon movie series. He may not have had a hit role in ages, but that hasn't stopped him from being one of the strangest people in Hollywood.

Quaid's descent into madness began around 2009 when he started to find himself in legal trouble. During this time, he claimed that mysterious men were intercepting his royalty checks. Eventually, this idea turned into a full blown conspiracy theory for Quaid that involved his legal troubles as well as some mysterious celebrity deaths. Quaid's fall from the top has been both sad and totally creepy.

Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton is a fantastic actress. She’s known for taking roles others would probably not, like the mother in We Need To Talk About Kevin. Some think she looks creepy, but her childhood is what lands her on this list. Apparently, when she was four or five, she attempted to kill her newborn brother.

She stated, “I was going to kill him because he was a boy, naturally. And I already had two brothers, and that was too much to bear.” Thankfully, she didn’t go through with it.

Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe has had an incredibly successful and varied career in Hollywood. He's appeared in crowd-pleasing movies like The Boondock Saints and Speed 2: Cruise Control, but he's also taken roles in more artistic and experimental films like The Last Temptation of Christ and Lars von Trier's terrifying Antichrist.

And in his defense, the poor man hasn't done anything that creepy, but there's no denying the elephant in the room — the guy just looks a little weird. It's not really his fault (unless you blame him for not getting plastic surgery), but the fact remains that Willem Dafoe is hard to look at.

Jeffrey Jones

Jeffrey Jones

Jeffrey Jones has had a number of iconic roles throughout his career, including the exasperated principal in Ferris Beuller's Day Off and Joseph II in Amadeus. More recently, he had a role in the TV series Deadwood, as well as the movie that the series spawned. Despite his success, Jones was hiding a secret.

In 2002, Jones was charged with possession of child pornography and soliciting a minor. While the first charge was eventually dropped, he plead no contest to the soliciting charge. Since then, he's also had several arrests for failing to update his status on the sex offender registry. It seems he's fallen quite far.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry

Katy Perry might have kissed a girl and liked it, but she's done way more questionable things than that involving other women. This pop star might have tried hard to cultivate a quirky personality and brand for herself, but sometimes she veers away from quirky into straight-up creepy territory.

In 2013, the singer made a questionable revelation that she has a collection of locks of hair from other celebrities...because that's a totally normal thing to do. There's no telling how many locks she has stashed away somewhere, but she mentioned hair from Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus specifically.

Sean Young

Sean Young

In the 1980s, Sean Young's star was on the rise. The up-and-coming actress kept getting cast in majorly popular films like Blade Runner, No Way Out, and Wall Street. However, things started to take a turn for the worse in the 2000s as Young started to display more bizarre and erratic behavior.

Things got awkward in 2012 when she was subjected to a citizen's arrest at the Oscars after slapping a security guard who had asked her to leave since she didn't have a ticket to attend. Things got worse and weirder a few years later when she and her son were spotted on security footage stealing computers from the set of a movie she was supposed to direct.

Stephen Collins

Stephen Collins

For years in the late '90s and early 2000s, Stephen Collins portrayed Reverend Eric Camden on the sickeningly wholesome TV show 7th Heaven. The good reverend might have been an upstanding guy, but the actor portraying him was anything but. There's no getting around it — Stephen Collins is a creep

In 2014, Collins confessed to sexually abusing three minors during the 1970s, '80s, and '90s. The public confession came after audio leaked to the media that came from a marriage counseling session for Collins and his then-wife. His career in Hollywood pretty much came to a grinding halt after this revelation, which was probably for the best.

Joan Crawford

Joan Crawford

You can't talk about the golden age of Hollywood without mentioning Joan Crawford. She was one of the hardest working and most acclaimed actresses for decades, and, from the outside, she couldn't have deserved it more. No one exuded grace, class, and charm like she did. However, that wasn't the whole story.

Crawford famously adopted several children during her life, and her eldest daughter, Christina, didn't have many good things to say about her upbringing. Her complaints were detailed in the explosive book Mommie Dearest, which was eventually made into an infamous film of the same name. Christina accuses her mother of only adopting children for attention and claims that she was subjected to all sorts of psychological and physical abuse.

Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen

These days, Charlie Sheen is mostly known as a crazy person, but he had a legitimately impressive career in Hollywood before things went south for him. Most recently, he played a lead role on the sitcom Two and a Half Men, but before that, he found acclaim for roles in things like Spin City and Wall Street.

Sheen has had legal and drug problems for many years now, and things got really weird in the mid 2010s when he made numerous bizarre and incoherent appearances on video and real life. Plus, after disclosing his HIV diagnosis, Sheen talked about going off his meds for alternative treatments.

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham is the writer of the HBO hit Girls, but that isn’t what she’s known for. The creepiest thing she’s done was sexually abuse her little sister when they were children. Dunham released an autobiography in 2014, which detailed this account.

The passage reads, “I took to bribing her for her time and affection.” At one point, she explains how she would give her candy if she could kiss her sister on the lips. She even says herself she was doing “anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl.” She’d even watch her sister sleeping in the middle of the night. This is the epitome of creep.
