30 Times Celebrities Have Been Caught Lying on Social Media

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian posted a throwback sexy selfie a few days after posting a different throwback sexy selfie in November of 2015.

Fans accused her of being thirsty and she denied it, telling her trolls that then 2-year-old North West was playing with her phone and posted it instead.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber

In December of 2014, Justin Bieber took to Insta to post a selfie of him inside what appeared to be a private jet with the status, “New jet for Christmas, and she’s beautiful.”

But, after the media did their homework, it was revealed that the Biebs did not purchase the jet as he had led his followers to believe.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears

Britney Spears posted a photo to her Instagram account in January of 2016 of what appeared to be some gourmet Mexican street corn with a caption that said, “It’s honestly too good to be true mmmm.”

However, fans instantly googled and/or recognized the photograph as the Food Network’s Tyler Florence’s photo and immediately set her IG account to call the singer out.

Jenelle Eason Evans

Jenelle Eason Evans

Teen Mom 2, Jenelle Eason Evans, in a paid partnership with Boombod, got caught lying about her weight loss success in a photo comparison that has since been removed from her social accounts.

Fans could instantly tell that the spokesperson had simply changed tops, pulled her hair back, took off her glasses, and pulled her pants up a bit to give the illusion that she had lost weight and toned up.

Bow Wow

Bow Wow

Rapper Bow Wow tweeted a photo in May of 2017 of a private jet with a caption speaking about his “travel day,” giving the illusion that he would be flying on the jet. However, he may have gotten away with it, too if it hadn’t been for those pesky fans who were traveling with him.

Other passengers began to snap photos of Bow Wow flying in coach on a commercial flight and called him out on Twitter for lying.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey

In November of 2012, Oprah Winfrey took to Twitter to post that the Microsoft Surface had made her annual list of favorite things.

However, fans could see that she had posted the tweet from her iPad instead of a Surface and fans were quick to call her out for it.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora

On October 31, 2014, Ria Ora challenged her Twitter followers by posting, “Dropping my new song Monday if this get 100,000 retweets.”

When this had generated only 1,850 retweets within a couple of hours, the singer then tweeted that her account had actually been hacked, to which fans quickly responded that she was full of you-know-what.

Bella Thorne

Bella Thorne

Actress Bella Thorne posted a photo to Instagram in February of 2016 posing in a fur jacket. In the original caption, the actress wrote that the jacket was faux fur.

However, fans did the research and found that it was actually real rabbit’s fur. Bella’s reps later told the media that the jacket had been given to the actress for a photo shoot and she had been told that it was faux fur.

Kim Kardashian...Again

Kim Kardashian...Again

In April of 2014, Kim Kardashian posted a photo of a Thai beach to Instagram with a caption that said, “Thank you for the beautiful memories Thailand.”

However, when fans googled images of Thai beaches, they found this same photograph as the first thing that popped up as well as on various tourist websites.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner

And another of the Kardashian/Jenner clan strikes again! In September of 2018 Kylie Jenner tweeted that she had just had her first experience with cereal and milk.

To which a Twitter user responded “Girl you lying. You had cereal with milk on April 25, 2013 and posted it on Instagram.” Along with a photo of the Instagram post in question.

Diddy

Diddy

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from old music mogul Diddy, Puff Daddy, P Diddy… whatevs. But in August of 2014 the producer was still stuntin when he posted a beautiful photo of a lunar eclipse to his Insta with the caption #diddyView.

The trouble was that the photograph was not his but L.A. based photographer Cole Younger who called Diddy out for using the image without permission.

Shay Mitchell

Shay Mitchell

In September 2018, Shay Mitchell uploaded a video to her snapchat supposedly removing her eye makeup as a Biore spokesperson.

However, she never touched her skin with the pad and her eye makeup is still flawless despite the actress showing us a dirty makeup pad after the wipe. Fans called her out immediately.

Kris Jenner

Kris Jenner

The matriarch of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, Kris Jenner, is apparently not a fan of wrinkles on anyone! In October of 2014, she photoshopped and posted a photograph of herself and Gordon Ramsey looking rather youthful.

However, Gordan Ramsey posted the original photo to his own account and tagged her in it, and fans began to realize the differences in the photos. She may have gotten away with it if Ramsey had just posted her photo, instead!

Donald Trump

Donald Trump

In November of 2016, Donald J Trump was still a bit confused as to how exactly the Electoral College seems to work. He tweeted that he actually won the popular vote when, in fact, Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by more than 3 million votes.

Also, his claim that millions of illegal voters flocked to the polls to vote for Hillary was false. He was called out by the media and the Twitter-verse for this faux pas.

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr started her own Twitter downfall in May of 2018 when she was fired from her show, Roseanne, for tweeting racial slurs at a politician. The comedian returned to Twitter to excuse her actions.

She then tweeted that she had been under the influence of sleeping pills when she had posted those slurs, but many people weren’t buying it and it didn’t help her to get her job back, either.

Khloe Kardashian

Khloe Kardashian

And another Kardashian bites the social media dust. In November of 2015, Khloe Kardashian posted a beautiful photograph to her Instagram account of baked goods with a caption that said “I am sooooo proud of myself lol can I say that???”

She went on to imply that she had slaved away in the kitchen all day baking. However, TMZ found out and reported that the pies were actually ordered from Sweet Lady Jane bakery based in L.A.

Soulja Boy

Soulja Boy

In a now-deleted post, Soulja Boy grammed a selfie holding what appeared to be a stack of $100 bills.

Alas, upon closer inspection fans noticed that only the top bill looked like cash on top of a stack of white paper. Also, the bills were marked $10,000.

Kim Kardashian... Once more...

Kim Kardashian... Once more...

Kim is at it again! This time, in June of 2014, Kim uploaded a photo of herself to Insta that appeared photoshopped to make her waist slimmer and her hips wider—but erased her arm!

She posted it with a caption asking where her arm went. However, no one believed that it was a trick of the light and fans were quick to call her out on it.

The Biebs... Again

The Biebs... Again

Really? Justin Bieber, again? Just five months after the private jet social media debacle, in April of 2014, the Biebs was at it again. This time with a Bugatti.

The caption read, “Uncle Stunna luv. My first Bugatti #generosity.” This time he tried to make a blatant claim that the car was actually a gift instead of on loan from rapper Birdman.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton

For National Selfie Day in November of 2017, Paris Hilton, tweeted some throwback photos of her and Britney Spears, claiming that they actually invented the selfie in 2006.

Although it may have been a tongue-in-cheek statement, many argued that it wasn’t true.

Kim Kardashian…for the Millionth Time

Kim Kardashian…for the Millionth Time

So, it’s obvious that Kim K absolutely adores photoshop and lying. One of her most shocking examples was one Halloween when she photoshopped her own kid into her family photo.

Everyone went as a member of the Flintstones, but Chicago didn’t make it in the photo for one reason or another. Kim K decided to (poorly) photoshop the kiddo into the pic. It looks utterly awful.

Millie Bobby Brown

Millie Bobby Brown

In 2019, Millie Bobby Brown released her new skincare line, and she showed everyone her nighttime routine to promote it. Unfortunately, fans noted some odd stuff. Not only did the makeup not come off at all, but her hands were completely dry when applying the “product.”

She didn’t even spray mists toward her face. She sprayed it upward and away. She’s a sweet kid and all, but she’s selling products to other kids, so being truthful is essential.

Manti Te’o

Manti Te’o

In 2008, Manti Te’o began an online relationship with a woman named Lennay Kekua. He happily shared the information with ABC and other major news outlets. The relationship was off-and-on until 2012 when she got in a car accident.

Apparently, the hospital also discovered she had leukemia at the same time. She “died” soon afterward. News outlets began digging and found some suspicious stuff, namely that Lennay Kekua never existed. Soon, news broke that Te’o had been catfished, and the whole thing was a scam. How embarrassing.

Nelly

Nelly

We’re used to women lying about their age, but guys? Well, we don’t expect that. Back in 2003, Teen People wanted to list Nelly as one of the “Hottest Stars Under 25.” Nelly’s reps insisted he was under 25 while Nelly took to social media to state the same thing.

The only issue? He was actually 28 at the time. This isn’t a “young at heart” competition, Nelly. No one is sure how much appearing in the magazine helped his career. However, he will forever appear on lists like these.

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan has been caught in a number of lies throughout her life, and that list is growing longer as each year passes. One of the worst lies is one she posted on social media. Lohan stated that she was forced to handle the late Whitney Houston’s body bag as part of her community service.

If true, that would be awful, but why would they pick Lohan to do that? The answer: they wouldn’t. Whitney Houston was never in a body bag, so there wasn’t one to handle. The coroner’s office publicly corrected her. Sometimes that’s what Lohan needs to be set straight.

Amelia Marni

Amelia Marni

Most celebs (and people) photoshop themselves a little. That’s just what Instagram is about, but some people take it a step too far. In January 2019, Amelia Marni posted a photo on her Instagram that looked pretty sweet, but a closer look revealed something…disturbing.

Marni only has one leg! Worse yet, the woman had one giant thigh. Marni apparently photoshopped her leg so much that it erased the line between her two legs. It’s almost like she’s a mermaid with feet.

Kylie Jenner…Again

Kylie Jenner…Again

Yes, we could make this whole list just about the Jenner’s and Kardashian’s. However, we’re only listing some of the worst examples. The thing about Kylie is that she has a following of young girls who are very impressionable. That’s what makes this photoshop awful.

Some of it is lighting, but Kylie Jenner posted the photo on the left on Instagram. Then later, she was on a TV program, and she looked…much different (to say the least). Jenner tried to play it off, but fans pointed out that her outfit was exactly the same.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Ever wondered about the snake emojis on T-Swift's social media? Taylor Swift and Kanye West have been involved in several controversies, but one of the worst was on social media. Kanye West released a song called “Famous” where he sang that he might have relations (if you catch our drift) with Taylor because he made her famous. Taylor Swift went to social media.

She stated she didn’t have any involvement with the song, but Kim K stepped in. She had filmed a snapchat video of the two talking about the song where Taylor approved the lyric saying, “I mean, go with whatever line you think is better.” The drama continued, with fans bombarding her Instagram and social media with snake emojis.  Swift eventually posted that she wanted to be “excluded from the narrative.”

Rebel Wilson

Rebel Wilson

Rebel Wilson seemingly blew up in popularity overnight, partially due to the fact her name was Rebel. An Australian tabloid claimed she was 35 and her real name was Melanie Elizabeth Wilson. Rebel fought back over social media, saying she was 29, and “Rebel” was her real name.”

Well, the magazine wasn’t having it. They uncovered official documents that listed her actual birthname and date, proving what she said was a lie. Rebel responded by suing, winning over $3 million in damages, but the magazine countersued and won back the money.

Beyonce

Beyonce

Beyonce isn’t one to lie often, but apparently, even she has issues with her body image. This photo was posted on her birthday, and people noticed that her yacht's steps seem a little off. Clearly, she photoshopped her legs to have a bigger gap.

It baffled most fans since Beyonce has a stunning figure. This wasn’t the first time she’s been caught, either. The biggest issue is that she’s constantly promoting accepting yourself. Fans were angry that she says one thing and then does the complete opposite.
