50 Beloved Movie Stars Who Are Jerks in Real Life

Candace Cameron Bure

Candace Cameron Bure

Candace Cameron Bure has had a pretty wholesome career; audiences grew up with her as DJ Tanner on Full House, and she's starred in more Hallmark romcoms than anyone else in the game (aside from maybe her former Full House costar, Lori Loughlin, whose reputation has also taken a turn...). She's pretty outspoken about her conservative Christian values, so one would think she'd be friendly in person.

But not so much—at least if you ask JoJo Siwa! The YouTuber called Candace the "rudest" celebrity she'd ever met in a recent TikTok, which ended up going viral. The two met at the Fuller House premiere in 2016 when Siwa was around 14 years old. According to Bure, who called JoJo and then divulged the intimate details of their conversation in a five-minute-long Instagram video, JoJo was referring to Bure refusing to take a picture with her at the Fuller House premiere, it wasn't that deep, and all is well.

Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland

We loved Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, but he apparently has issues. Along with a DUI and reports of drunken misbehavior, other stars hated working with him. Freddie Prinze, Jr. said that Sutherland was unprofessional and that he “hated every moment” of working with Sutherland. Of course, when you put major actors in a room, personalities are gonna clash, but this seems to go above and beyond a little off-camera drama between feuding Hollywood stars.

It turns out that Kiefer was more than a little unprofessional while filming their scenes together. Freddie says, "That's not me talking trash, I'd say it to his face, I think everyone that's worked with him has said that." It even made Freddie want to quit the business afterward! There may be two sides to every story, but it doesn't matter what angle you look at this scene from--it makes Sutherland look like a huge jerk. Big yikes.

Jesse James

Jesse James

Jesse James has a reputation for mistreating the women in his life. In 2010, it was revealed that he had cheated on Sandra Bullock with many partners, all while the couple was trying to adopt a child together. Keep this in mind as you keep reading because infidelity is a recurring theme in the life of this entrepreneur and tv personality.  He may know how to fix a motorcycle, but James was incapable of fixing this relationship.

It should come as no surprise that he and Sandra Bullock divorced in June 2010. Good for her. However, the cheating saga doesn't end there. The end of this relationship was the beginning of another. One of the women he cheated with was Kat Von D, and they began seeing each other publicly after his divorce. The two even went as far as to get engaged, but that was called off, and I'll give you two guesses why. Spoiler alert: he cheated...again

William Shatner

William Shatner

William Shatner’s Comedy Central Roast was so good because it gave stars the chance to express pent-up rage they’ve had for years at this alleged Hollywood grouch. It turns out that while on the set of Star Trek, most of his co-stars hated him because he behaved too badly towards all of them He garnered the name “Captain Jerk” for not showing up to Leonard Nimoy’s funeral. It's not the most creative mean nickname, but it definitely gets its point across.

While at conventions, he has a huge attitude that fans and co-stars are forced to put up with. At one point, he shouted at Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar from Star Trek) any time she tried to answer a question. After seeing the way he acts toward his co-stars, it's impossible to have respect for the man. And as far as upsetting fans goes, he might not have to worry about that much longer because his bad behavior seems to be driving away any fans brave enough to stick around.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow has given up any hope of being seen as an average person. After such stunts as eliminating "coffee, alcohol, dairy, eggs, sugar, corn, shellfish, fish, wheat, meat and soy" from her diet, Paltrow has declared herself to be a lifestyle expert. A friend of the actress has been quoted saying that she is a "rich, white woman with an eating disorder turned into a branding opportunity." She can't really be that bad, can she? Oh yes she can!

It doesn't help that her recent Goop Netflix series shows how out of touch she really is with society--as if she needed a series to tell the world what we all already know! While in London, she went to a Michelin-starred restaurant and insulted the chef by saying,  "I can’t eat this sh*t. Let’s just go up to my suite and order room service?" Apparently, she'd rather eat "Moondust" and seaweed. Best of luck with whatever that is.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon—American Sweetheart or no? Apparently, no! And what a shame it is to know that it's all just an act. Some say she’s pretty self-entitled, which came to light after she and her husband were stopped for weaving in and out of lanes of traffic. When the officer approached her, she said, “Do you know my name? You’re about to find out who I am.” She was arrested for disorderly conduct soon after.

A source at Star Magazine claims that “Reese is anything but sweet. The staff is terrified of rubbing her the wrong way, so they bend over backward to please her! She won’t ever take off her sunglasses because she doesn’t want anyone to make eye contact. Jim doesn’t want his coworkers to see it, because he’s such a bigwig. He wants the staff to think that he has the upper hand but it’s obvious she wears the pants.”

Tommy Lee Jones

Tommy Lee Jones

Tommy Lee Jones doesn’t just act like a grumpy guy; he is a grump. In fact, it’s rare to find him signing an autograph or talking to journalists. While that’s all fine and good, most journalists don’t want to have a second movie-promoting interview with him because he’s known for cutting them off and walking out. In fact, he made a reporter cry one time during an interview with GQ magazine...while literally cracking whole walnuts with his bare hands.

He also notoriously told Jim Carrey, “I hate you. I really don’t like you…I cannot sanction your buffoonery” while on the set of Batman Forever. There's no denying that he probably was too harsh on Carey, but let's give credit where credit is due. "I cannot sanction your buffoonery," is probably one of the most hilarious ways you could tell someone to f--- off. He may be a grump, but at least he's got a flair for great insults

Terrence Howard

Terrence Howard

Terrence Howard may seem like a good guy, but he has a dark past. In 2001, he beat his first wife, Lori McCommas, because she was talking to him “real strong.” In 2005, he punched his second wife, Michelle Ghent. There was another incident in 2010, when Ghent claimed Howard threw her across a hotel room before picking her up, taking her to the balcony, and threatening to toss her over the railing

Howard's attitude continues into his work life, as well. That's reportedly why he got released from Iron Man, and Don Cheadle took his place. Howard wanted more money and left when he couldn't get it. Then, he continued to complain about this "injustice" for years later, blaming Robert Downey, Jr. You know, the guy that fought for equal pay for all those on the Avengers set. Won't someone think of the poor Hollywood superstar?

Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl

In a relatively short amount of time, Katherine Heigl became hugely successful in both television and film. However, her reputation quickly put a halt to her career. Heigl is known for criticizing her own projects, as well as speaking harshly about her fellow celebrities. Badmouthing is a Hollywood tradition, but most stars have the common sense and decency to do it slyly and in private. But that's just not how Katherine Heigl rolls, I guess.

She once refused a nomination for an Emmy because she felt that the writing of the show (Grey's Anatomy) was undeserving of the recognition. I'm that sure her fellow contenders were truly heartbroken to see her go. Heigl also criticized Knocked Up for being hateful toward women. Then, in 2010, she requested $3 million to appear in Valentine's Day, which was ridiculous considering it was an ensemble film where she wouldn't be on set long.

Edward Norton

Edward Norton

Edward Norton has developed quite a reputation for being extremely rude. In fact, rumors state that was why Marvel decided for him not to reprise his role as The Hulk in The Avengers. The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, told HitFlix.com that Norton wasn't a "team player" and that the studio was "looking for an actor willing to work side by side with a star-studded cast." Why can't stars just seem to keep their mouths shut and take their millions?

As much money as Marvel movies bring in, you'd think that they would work with just about any jerk in Hollywood who could put butts in seats, but even those who chase money have to draw the line somewhere. In fact, in that same interview, Kevin Feige went to great lengths to make it explicitly clear that this was not a "monetary issue"--Norton was just that awful to work with. That's got to be pretty embarrassing for him.

Christian Bale

Christian Bale

It's no secret that Christian Bale is infamously difficult to work with--he has been in the news more than once or twice because of his high-maintenance tantrums and freakouts on set. Before Terminator: Salvation was released, the audio of one of Bale’s ranting and raving gained more attention than the movie did. What a great look for a grown man who's allegedly a professional actor. Although in his defense, Terminator: Salvation was nothing to write home about.

In the tape, Bale can be heard verbally assaulting director of photography Shane Hurlbut, as Hurlbut tries to apologize for ruining a take--because apparently, that was the first time in cinema history when a take had been ruined. Bale is notorious for forcing others to give him what he wants, and there's a word for that: bully. That's precisely why there wasn't an official Robin in the Batman trilogy. You know it's bad

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel may act like she's all cute and quirky, but her castmates throughout her career had some different adjectives to describe the titular New Girl. Namely, they called her “nasty, moody, and unhappy"—and while that might be technically quirky, it's definitely not anywhere near cute. She “rules the roost” when it comes to controlling the set. When schedules don’t go her way, all hell breaks loose, and she consistently displays bad behavior. What a class act.

One producer once claimed that she was a horrible boss, which doesn't sound like a huge stretch. When schedules were (inevitably) disrupted on set, she would stop filming dead in its tracks, treat others on set very poorly, and sometimes stop showing up at all. I think there's a word for that kind of behavior—a temper tantrum. It frequently caused issues on set, which could be why she isn't in the limelight much anymore.

Lucille Ball

Lucille Ball

Though she was best known during her life for playing characters who were funny and down-to-earth, it seems like Lucille Ball was just a wonderful performer and had all of us fooled. Her sense of humor and good nature appeared to end the moment the cameras stopped rolling. Ball was notoriously rude to anyone who didn’t share her celebrity status. Once on an airplane, she completely ignored a flight attendant, instead having her assistant say, “I'm sorry, Ms. Ball doesn't speak to the help."

While she had many adoring fans, Richard Burton was not one of them. From his diaries that are soon to be published, he wrote about Lucille Ball, “She is a monster of staggering charmlessness and monumental lack of humour...She is a tired old woman and lives entirely on that weekly show which she has been doing and successfully doing for 19 years. Nineteen solid years of double-takes and pratfalls and desperate upstaging and cutting out other people’s laughs if she can, nervously watching the ‘ratings’ as she does so…"

Shia LaBeouf

Shia LaBeouf

There are lots of things to dislike about Shia LaBeouf, but one big example of his crappy attitude is when he plagiarized an entire screenplay. That's right--he just took a preexisting script and slapped his name on it like no one would notice. He stole comic-writer Daniel Clowes' work, word for word, and expected everyone to get over it when it was discovered. He basically photocopied the whole thing and was surprised people cared!

But the bad behavior doesn't stop there with Shia. Another recent example of him being a grade-A jerk is from FKA Twigs. She filed a lawsuit in court against him for being physically and emotionally abusive, which doesn't sound like a stretch of the imagination. This goes far beyond being a jerk, but it shows Shia for who he really is. His past girlfriends also spoke up, confirming Twigs' claims as they too experienced abuse.

Mike Myers

Mike Myers

You may love him as Austin Powers, but Mike Myers is anything but groovy, baby. Because of his controlling ways, narcissism, and firing someone for making eye contact with him, Mike Myers does not have the best image in the public eye anymore. After not signing an autograph for a company that made toys based on his characters, Myers ordered their products to be rushed to him overnight but refused to pay for the shipping.

Myers also notoriously forced all of Shrek to be redone because he suddenly decided Shrek should have a Scottish accent. I mean, he wasn't wrong--can you imagine Shrek not being Scottish? But that being said, it seems pretty insane that he would throw the whole production into jeopardy by demanding such major revision. Hollywood has stopped casting him because he's such a jerk, with many of those who worked directly with the comedian calling him "insufferable."

Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase

It hurts us to say that Chevy Chase is a nasty individual--he's not the lovable and hilarious goofball that he's tried to convince us he is. He has a reputation for being a complete jerk, and even his co-stars from SNL hate him as host because he acts rudely toward everyone. And his bad behavior and bad reputation didn't end when he left SNL. It's basically followed him throughout his entire career--which seems to be done for good these days.

At one point, he made lewd remarks toward one of the female writers, which is pretty messed up. Respecting those who write your lines is apparently not on his "top priority" list. Chase also hates being polite to anyone – fans and co-workers alike. He was also let go from NBC's hit show, Community, after similar on-set issues cropped up with the aging comedian. It looks like he'll probably never change his ways at this point.

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts is America's Sweetheart, right? You might want to reconsider that title after hearing what some people have to say about her! Reportedly, Steven Spielberg said he wouldn’t work with Julia Roberts again because she was an emotional wreck on the set of Hook. The crew apparently nicknamed her “Tinkerhell.” Roberts’s own sister even claimed that her ego and fame destroyed their relationship. It appears that she's not afraid to treat anyone badly, no matter how close they might have been.

But the rumors of her bad behavior don't end there. According to her I Love Trouble co-star Nick Nolte, the pair had to film scenes separately. They used stand-ins because they disliked each other so much. You know that you're working with a real grade-A professional when they refuse to do their job because they've let personal differences get in the way. It's unfortunate that Roberts's pristine image has been tarnished by all this jerky behavior.

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock isn’t the sweetheart everyone thinks she is, no matter how much she might put on that personality when the cameras are on her. Refusing fans an autograph is fine, but a celeb shouldn’t ever insult them. When a disabled veteran asked for her autograph, she responded by covering her face and verbally abusing him. I'm sure that whole debacle was just a blast for her poor PR team to try and smooth over with the public.

Her former husband, Jesse James, did an interview saying he cheated on Bullock because he felt "inferior" because she would control all his movements. Jesse James is a known jerk (especially for cheating on anyone), so we take what he says with a grain of salt. However, given what other people have said, we can't count his statements out completely. And considering that this fits in perfectly with the other jerky behavior she's been known for, it doesn't seem outlandish at all.

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise

Many people still love Tom Cruise, but some in Hollywood don’t understand why. And to be honest, we're not sure why anyone still likes the guy anymore ourselves! Cruise notoriously set weird rules with Katie Holmes in and out of their marriage. Outside of the marriage, she wasn’t allowed to see other men right away, she couldn’t travel with her daughter, and she wasn’t allowed to talk to Nicole Kidman, Cruise’s other ex. What a definitely stable and mature guy he is.

Cruise also has regular outbursts about Scientology that are hard for anyone to deal with. Who wants to be proselytized to in the first place? But it gets even more annoying when it's a religion about space aliens. It isn't just his weird Scientology stuff, either. Apparently, he told Navy Sailors not to talk or even look at him while he was on set filming Top Gun 2. So much for respect for our troops, right?

Patrick Dempsey

Patrick Dempsey

After becoming a fan favorite on the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey became quite the diva on the set. Where not sure what it is about fame that turns people into monsters, but it's a consistent fact of life in Hollywood. He was so rude to the cast and crew that he got himself written off the show. He may be McDreamy in the show, but reality? He's far from it, and it's become a well-known fact.

After working with Dempsey (and a few other notable narcissists), Shonda Rhimes (the show’s creator, head writer, executive producer, and showrunner) announced that she has adopted a “no a**holes policy.” We don't blame her there. The show already has enough drama. Fans might still be devastated about losing McDreamy, but we're sure his co-workers all breathed a sigh of relief once they were finally freed from his bad behavior on set--we know we would be.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres

Several stars in Hollywood hate Ellen DeGeneres. She treats her writing staff like crap because they would “write unfunny jokes.” That's pretty odd coming from a comedian that could write her own jokes. Kathy Griffin has come out and said that Ellen has a “mean streak that all of Hollywood knows about.” Things came to a head in 2020 when lots of stories about DeGeneres' bad behavior began leaking out to the public.

A recent Twitter thread surfaced to raise $2 for the LA Food Bank for every story that proved Ellen is one of the meanest people alive. The stories include her trying to get a waitress fired after Ellen discovered the waitress had chipped a nail, forcing everyone to chew gum because of her "sensitive nose," and getting an autistic custodian fired because he greeted her. The fundraiser rose $600. At least all of her bad behavior helped monetize a good cause.

Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill might make a living being a comedian, but don’t joke around him! Apparently, his sense of humor comes and goes. In an interview, the interviewer jokingly called him Seth. Jonah responded with deadpan by saying “That’s a great way to start.” When they attempted to ask questions, he gave them very little to work with and made it nearly impossible to get the whole thing done. Sounds like he got his poor little feelings hurt.

Overall, anyone that's around Jonah Hill seems to notice how insufferable he could be. Just watch any of his interviews. During his Howard Stern interview, he would say things like "out of respect for myself, I'm going to finish my thought." Not that Howard Stern is any better, but the whole thing showed how arrogant they could both be. It seems like Jonah can't do an interview without putting someone in an awkward situation.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the biggest actors on the silver screen right now, but that doesn’t mean she’s nice. We're starting to see that "nice" and "famous" rarely go together in Hollywood. She’s been notoriously mean to fans. She actually admits it and claims that it’s a way of defending herself. We understand not wanting to cater to fans 24/7, but there’s a way to tell people “no” without being a self-entitled brat.

Her bratty behavior is also extended to the press--because why in the world wouldn't it? In 2016, it's alleged that she reportedly lashed out at a reporter during a press conference for—get this—looking at his phone. Maybe she was just having a bad day though? But it seems to me like if you're going to be in the public eye, you should probably get better at disguising when you're having a bad day. Just a friendly suggestion.

Tobey Maguire

Tobey Maguire

Toby Maguire might be an okay actor, but he doesn’t know how to treat other people. While out one night, Maguire was speaking to a cocktail waitress when he decided that she made too much money. Instead of giving her a tip, he told her to “bark like a seal who wants a fish” for $1,000. When she laughed it off, he insisted that she bark. Isn't Hollywood just a fantastic place filled with salt of the earth folks?

One casting director went as far as to call Maguire "the worst little monster you've ever met." And, after hearing that last anecdote, you don't have to convince us of it! On set, people are told not to look him in the eyes (a common form of diva behavior among actors), and (less commonly) he requests people to weirdly call him "Tugboat Maguire" or "Tugboat Tobey." We can't make this up, and we wish we could forget.

Kirstie Alley

Kirstie Alley

Alley may seem like a friendly woman in interviews, but that isn’t the case. After one of her good friends left Scientology, she took to Twitter to bash her. There's nothing like feuding with a personal friend in public to show what a great person you are. She got incredibly hateful and followed up with hurtful comments including a tweet that said, “haha I love talking smack.” Apparently, she loves it more than having friends!

Alley has really dug a hole for herself, as many other celebs refuse to act with her--and who can blame them? Some of her worst offenses include saying taking psychiatric drugs is a "common denominator in shooters" and tweeting "you had a good go at it...thanks for the input" with a picture of Hawking after he passed. What a class act. It's a shame she's basically blacklisted herself because she wasn't the worst actor in the world.

Spike Lee

Spike Lee

Spike Lee is a talented writer, director, and actor, but that doesn’t excuse any of his behavior--and there's plenty! He has a famously poor demeanor that comes out whether he’s meeting fans or fellow celebs. One time when visiting a university for a public lecture, he cut it short by 40 minutes and was curt to fans who came to ask questions during the scheduled Q&A. Stories say that this kind of behavior isn’t rare.

He also stormed out of the 2019 Academy Awards when his film, BlacKkKlansman, didn't take home the Best Picture award—despite the fact that he had already won Best Director for the same film. Poor thing only got one golden statue instead of two! Can you imagine the horror of such a situation? It's just a shame that he had to show the ugly side of Spike Lee over something so petty and symbolic as an award. You can't win 'em all, Spike!

Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis

Lots of stars won’t work with Bruce Willis anymore, but few came out to say why. However, the mystery didn't stay mysterious forever because some people finally started talking. Kevin Smith was one of the few who did, and he stated that working with Willis was a “soul-crushing” experience. That's always a fantastic sign when your colleagues have high praise for you like that.  Why do all the biggest names in Hollywood always end up being jerks?

He went on to say “It was difficult. I’ve never been involved in a situation like that where one component is not in the box at all.” So playing well with others is clearly not in Willis' bag of acting tricks. The actor also refused to sit for promotional photos for the poster of their film, which is kind of needed for the movie to – you know – release. What kind of actor doesn't want their face plastered all over the world? I thought that was one of the perks of being famous!

Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz

Don’t ask Diaz for an autograph because you’ll regret it. But let's be honest--who wants her autograph these days anyways? She’s ranked as one of the worst celebs to approach because she not only says “no,” but she lectures fans about why asking for autographs is stupid. As if the "no" isn't bad enough, you also get a scolding from a middle-aged woman who apparently thinks she's your mom! There’s a way to say no without acting like a jerk.

Once when Drew Barrymore threw a party, Cameron Diaz spent most of the time chain-smoking. Those guests also said she refused to share a cigarette, which they claimed was rude. We're not going to comment on that one--bumming a cigarette is tricky business and it can easily come off as rude. Not talking to others during a party, though? Super rude. I hope that she and her cigarettes are very happy together because no one else wants to be around her at this point!

Zach Braff

Zach Braff

Braff is often thought of as a lovably goofy geek because of his iconic role playing a guy like that on Scrubs, but that is apparently not the image he has of himself. On set, Braff has very specific requirements. For instance, he will only drink coffee from a certain place, and it must be left outside the door of his dressing room without any interaction. Braff also refuses to work with anyone who is too good-looking, so he looks attractive by comparison.

Recently, Braff received a lot of backlash for starting a Kickstarter for Wish I was Here, which he requested money from fans to fund. Even if you're the most delusional person in the world, how could you possibly think that a stunt like this would end well? As a note, Zach Braff has a net worth of $22 million, and he's asking broke fans to help out. Thankfully, people weren't having it--we'd be worried if they had actually taken the bait.

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson

So, Mel Gibson used to be beloved, but my how things change, because that is definitely not the case anymore. It came to light that he was a colossal cretin, and even his superstardom couldn't save him from being (rightfully) raked over the coals. In 2006, he was arrested for a DUI and made anti-Semitic remarks that landed him in hot water. But, unfortunately, Gibson's bad behavior didn't end there. He was just getting started with his awfulness.

It's also no secret to the world that he’s also incredibly sexist, which was revealed in a 1995 interview. Colbert even reported that Gibson is “strikingly lacking in apologies.” The list goes on and on. Things turned criminal in 2010 after he sent threatening phone calls to his ex-wife, musician Oksana Grigorieva. He was slapped with a domestic violence restraining order for that and was ordered not to contact Grigorieva or their daughter they have together.

Steven Seagal

Steven Seagal

Steven Seagal is a major piece of work, despite the love for him as an action film star. He’s notoriously difficult to work with, which seems like the one thing that an actor should be really, really good at. Even the creator and producer of SNL called him one of the worst hosts the show has ever had. Seagal is also incredibly rude to his stuntmen and is known for kicking them between the legs. A little childish, no?

Seagal also abuses those who he employs. One ex-model was hired by Seagal as an "executive assistant," but her duties included giving Seagal massages and letting him touch her whenever he wanted. What a terrifying prospect. Other women have also accused Seagal of sexual harassment, including Jenny McCarthy, Portia de Rossi, and Julianna Margulies. All in all, it's unlikely that this action star's reputation will ever recover from all the bad press.

Jared Leto

Jared Leto

Jared Leto recently portrayed The Joker in Suicide Squad, but he’s had fans long before then. He makes this list because he was really rude to his castmates on the set. He sent each one of them a special gift including bullets, anal beads, and used condoms. He might have just been trying to method act, but honestly, that's more annoying. If you're going to be a jerk to people, you don't have to get all obnoxiously pretentious with it.

To add to this, he also alienates his fans with his bad behavior by lashing out and being hostile. Other fans have a different story.  They claim Leto treats women poorly, using them before throwing them out. One Reddit thread went into detail with several stories that claimed he had a particular eye for underaged girls. Those were all just unsubstantiated allegations, but there's plenty of things we know he's done that make us shake our heads.

Teri Hatcher

Teri Hatcher

Teri Hatcher’s Hollywood days are behind her, and it looks like her bad attitude and manners are to blame for her downfall. Apparently, she’s notoriously had frequent issues on set with her castmates. Or rather, her castmates have had issues with her. One of her co-stars told the creator of Desperate Housewives that she was the “meanest woman in the world.” It wasn't a singular event as other reports agree with this assessment of the actress.

It isn't just on Desperate Housewives either. This kind of behavior is rarely confined to one gig. Over the years, she's developed a reputation for being an extreme diva. As far back as Tomorrow Never Dies, co-star Pierce Brosnan got upset with her because she never showed up on set on time, and when she did, she made filming nearly impossible. It's probably for the best that she hasn't had much work since her reputation caught up with her.

Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan

Most recently, James Corden has labeled Pierce Brosnan one of the rudest celebrities out there, which is saying something. While at a U2 concert, Brosnan shoved the TV host as one apparently does. The story goes that Brosnan and some of his friends were there, but wanted to leave halfway through the show. Corden and his wife were in the way, and Brosnan shoved them out of the way without a glance, much less an apology.

To add to this, Brosnan mistreats those around him--you know that if he's ballsy enough to mess with famous people that he's doing it to the little guys, too. During a photoshoot, he was late and responded with, “Sorry I’m a bit late, lads. I doubt you had better things to do.” Maybe that's just us Americans not getting his British sense of humor, but something tells me he's probably a bit of a jerk, too.

Russell Crowe has quite the ego. An actor with an ego? What a rarity! When his name ends up in news headlines, it is usually because he is bad-mouthing other figures in show business. When he called George Clooney a “Frank Sinatra wannabe,” Clooney hilariously responded with a note saying, “Dude, the only people who succeed when two famous people are fighting is People magazine. What the f**k is wrong with you?”

There are more than enough stories about Crowe, but for now, we'll mention one more. While on the set of Gladiator, Crowe would call the producer at 3 AM just to scream and yell at him, while also threatening to kill him with his "bare hands."  Why did he do this? Because apparently, Crowe felt like DreamWorks had low-balled one of his assistants. Fighting for your underlings might be a noble cause, but you're not going to win any concessions with a murder threat.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp has a violent reputation. There are several stories of him getting in altercations with those on set. During City of Lies, Depp was sued for "decking" the location manager twice. What in the world could a location manager do to deserve not one but two punches? Probably quite a bit, in Johnny Depp's mind. In 1994, Depp also completely destroyed a hotel room and attempted to blame an armadillo. It cost him $10,000 in damages.

Things on set are also pretty bad because of course they are. Ex-managers have come out to say that Depp feels like he doesn't have to learn his lines anymore, which is absolutely the one thing an actor should be doing. Some of this may be because he's worked extensively with Tim Burton (who gives him creative freedom), but that doesn't excuse not working with other directors who put a lot of effort into their films.

Josh Duhamel

Josh Duhamel

Josh Duhamel may star in a lot of rom-coms, but the rumors all point to him being a less-than-stellar husband. Maybe they've infected his mind at this point. He supposedly cheated on his wife, Fergie, while they were together. Why anyone would want to disrespect those humps like that is beyond us, but apparently thought he could do better than Fergie. It shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that this marriage ended in divorce.

To add to this, Duhamel also is rude to strangers, which at least is a step up from being rude to loved ones. During a flight, he refused to turn off his BlackBerry despite warnings from the flight attendants. After a lengthy delay, he was escorted off the plane, to the relief of everyone involved. It's about time that celebs learn you can't break the rules just because you're rich and famous. Well, technically you can, but you can't be this brazen about it.

Ben Stiller

Ben Stiller

Ben Stiller is hilarious on the big screen, but he’s apparently a jerk in real life. Why are the funniest guys always the meanest too? There have been reports that he’s extremely entitled, which is what you would expect from a superstar actor born into a Hollywood dynasty. According to one story, explains Stiller freaked out because there weren’t exactly two ice cubes in his diet Coke. Why just two? Don't worry about it--freakouts rarely make any sense.

He also makes his private assistant stand in his parking spot to ensure no one else parks there—other than him, of course. You would think that someone as famous as him would have a better system than this. One Reddit user, who worked on the set of Tropic Thunder said Ben Stiller was horrible to everyone. The user explained how Stiller fired one employee because he thought there wasn't enough sugar in his coffee. The man is clearly particular about his drinks.

Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler, daughter of the famous Steven Tyler, expects to be VIP everywhere. She might be a decent actor, but she's really going to have to up her game if she wants to engage in diva behavior. You can only get away with that if you're one of the biggest and best of Hollywood, which she certainly is not. She dodges fans to avoid being bombarded, which is understandable. What isn’t understandable is cutting in line.

One time, she cut in line to see an exhibit when other people had been waiting four to five hours. The least she could have done was have someone stand in line for her! You've got to think these things through, Liv! After the guard refused to let her in (way to go guard!), she threw a fit. That might be disappointing to hear, but it's par for the course when it comes to Hollywood stars and their bad behavior.

Catherine Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones

It’s been reported that Catherine Zeta-Jones treats people like crap in real life. Zeta-Jones is known for not tipping at restaurants, despite being worth millions. One Reddit user explained, " I used to work at Mandalay Bay in 2002 and she expected you to wait hand and foot on her and then zero tip for anything you did. An oversight is one thing as we understand that it happens with celebrities, but not to this extent."

Catherine Zeta-Jones also shuts down gyms at hotels so that she can use them in privacy. God forbid any plebians see Empress Zeta-Jones sweat! This even happened at a condo, which is really a step up in terms of nutty behavior. None of the tenants could use it the whole time she stayed, which hopefully resulted in plenty of angry letters to the condo board. How can you shut down someone's home like that? That's a new kind of awful.

Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen

Before being fired from Two and a Half Men in 2012 because of his erratic behavior, Charlie Sheen was the highest-paid actor on television. It's always the highest that falls the hardest. Sheen’s egotistical and misogynistic ways have been well-documented in various interviews, in which he taught us all about tiger blood, called Rihanna the b-word (on Watch What Happens Live in 2017), and ranked his female co-stars. Apparently, they were not pleased with his bracket.

He's also known for destructive tendencies, drug addiction, bad-mouthing other celebrities, and mistreating his romantic partners. This includes former wife, Denise Richards, who would eventually divorce him because of drug and abuse allegations. She also accused him of looking at gay porn, and while that in itself might not be jerk behavior, it did provide a fun, bizarre wrinkle in the public breakdown of their marriage. While filing a restraining order, his third wife wrote that "I am very concerned that [Sheen] is currently insane."

David Boreanaz

David Boreanaz

Bones and Buffy fans might not want to hear it, but David Boreanaz is allegedly not the nicest guy to work with. But after reading this list, is there anyone in Hollywood that is actually fun to work with? He has a history of being rude to crew members, which is the icing on the jerk cake. He was also sued for sexual harassment by an extra on the set of Bones, but the case against him was eventually dismissed.

In addition to his on-set troubles, Boreanaz hasn't been a great guy in his love life, either. He admitted to cheating on his wife, Jamie Bergman, who was pregnant at the time. Something tells me he won't be winning father of the year any time soon. In a really odd twist, the woman he was cheating with was the same woman that was allegedly one of Tiger Wood's mistresses as well. I hope Woods wasn't too devastated.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera

Music, movies, TV—Christina Aguilera has done a little of everything that Hollywood has to offer, and fans have loved her for decades. Unfortunately, she seems to have succumbed to jerky behavior that’s pretty common in Tinseltown as well. It's a disappointing development, but it's not particularly surprising. Fame and jerky behavior seem to go hand in hand, no matter how much we wish it wasn't true, and Xtina is no exception to this rule.

In the early 2000s, Aguilera ruffled feathers with sometimes-harsh comments about fellow musicians like Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, and Pink, but it doesn’t seem like her bad behavior stopped at the end of her pop diva days. She’s been known to be cold and distant to everyone—from interviewers to fans. On-set rumors swirled when she announced her departure from The Voice, and several of her fellow judges allegedly couldn't stand working with her.

Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari

No one genuinely expects a reality show star to behave like Mother Teresa, but Laguna Beach cast member Kristin Cavallari could probably stand to improve her behavior more than a little bit. She had her more “dramatic” moments on air-for sure, but this is about how she acted when the cameras weren’t rolling--there was plenty of bad behavior that most of her fans never got a glimpse of, but she couldn't hide it entirely.

Apparently, she has a problem interacting with her fans, which is one of the few things that's actually expected of a celebrity. These people look up to you and all you can manage to do is bite their heads off? Not a great look in a business that's all about fans. Apparently, she once teased a fan behind their back after they asked for an autograph. If she keeps that up, she won’t have to worry about fans much longer.

Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby may have completely fallen from grace by this point, but for years, he was one of America’s beloved TV dads. He can't find a single person to say a good word about him these days, but it's shocking that it took so long for his facade to crumble and his fans to scatter. The paternal persona that he had created for himself made the allegations against him all the more shocking.

At this point, Cosby has been accused of sexual assault by more than 60 women, with some of their stories dating all the way back to the 1970s. Justice may not be perfect, but it seems like he's finally getting a little bit of what he deserved--even if he deserves much worse. In 2018, he was convicted of three counts and sentenced to up to ten years in prison. That's a start, we guess.

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart

We’re not sure why Kristen Stewart gets so much hate for starring in the Twilight series of films, especially when you consider that she’s done actual bad things. Sparkly vampires might not be everyone's cup of tea, but a job is a job--even in Hollywood. That being said, it's behind the scenes where her most audacious behavior seems to pop up. If there's one thing that actors are good at, it's putting up a deceptive mask when the cameras are rolling and dropping it immediately once the director calls cut.

Her “sulky” and “abrasive” persona is apparently on 24/7, which we’re sure gets old fast. No one wants to work with someone that's just a bundle of negativity, but it appears that Stewart just can't seem to internalize the message. She also cheated on her then-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, with the director of the films they were starring in. If that doesn't cause some on-set awkwardness, we don't know what would! All in all, things aren't going great for her.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Joseph Gordon-Levitt might not be a jerk these days, but even the actor himself admitted that he had his moments in the past. He had this to say about his younger years: “I was a sort of serious little dude—snobby. I thought girls my age were very frustrating. I was in danger of becoming a hopeless ivory-tower douchebag.” Thankfully, that all seems to be a thing of the past, and now he's a beloved Hollywood figure.

In his defense, what teenager isn’t in danger of becoming a hopeless douchebag? It's sort of what teenagers are best at, and hopefully, no one will seriously hold his younger days and questionable behavior against him. Most of us are a little mortified at how we used to act when we were younger. And at least he’s learned and can poke a little fun at himself! That's what really counts, isn't it?

Val Kilmer

Val Kilmer

Audiences may have loved '90s action star Val Kilmer, and who can blame them? The guy could kick butt. But people behind the scenes had their fair share of Kilmer horror stories. Joel Schumacher, director of 1995’s Batman Forever, called Kilmer “childish and impossible". Ouch. But that's just the opinion of one person, isn't it? It may be, but Schumacher is far from the only person dishing on Kilmer's bad behavior on set.

Another director, John Frankenheimer, went on record with a little Kilmer bashing himself and had this to say after working with Kilmer on The Island of Dr. Moreau: “I don’t like Val Kilmer, I don’t like his work ethic, and I don’t want to be associated with him ever again.” You know things are serious when people are saying things about you like this in public. Frankenheimer pulled no punches, and we don't doubt that he was telling the truth.

Wesley Snipes

Wesley Snipes

Wesley Snipes was once one of the biggest and brightest names in Hollywood, with hit roles in films like Blade and White Men Can’t Jump. However, it looks like all the fame eventually went to his head, as it always seems to do to actors. Maybe creating an industry where we pump lots of fame and money into individuals wasn't a great thing after all. It clearly didn't do any favors for Snipes.

While working with Snipes in 2004’s Blade: Trinity, comedian Patton Oswalt said that he would only communicate by using post-it notes, which he always signed “Blade.” He allegedly also tried to strangle director David Goyer during filming. In isolation, the post-it notes thing might be a little funny and quirky, but hits different when coupled with his (apparent) murder attempt on the director. That's the one person on set that you definitely don't want to strangle!

Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan

At one point, Meg Ryan once battled for the title of America’s Sweetheart with other big names like Julia Roberts—who also happened to make our list of jerk celebrities! However, it was eventually discovered that Ryan had some sides to her that wasn’t so sweet. Unfortunately for her and her aspirations, she wasn't famous enough to weather the controversy unscathed. Her career took a definite hit after stories about her began to be made public.

In 2000, it came to light that she was cheating on her then-husband, Dennis Quaid, with her Proof of Life co-star Russell Crowe—who also made this list! Hollywood truly is like a small town full of terrible people. Her career has suffered ever since, and rumors of trouble on-set have continued to haunt her even when she does land a role. She has a habit of acting entitled, even though her best days are far behind her. It's too late for that kind of behavior!

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Even though she was the star, Sarah Michelle Gellar made no attempt to hide her hatred for several of the storylines in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Strangely, show creator Joss Whedon didn't take too kindly to her badmouthing her own role. This, coupled with the fact that she surprised cast and crew with her announcement she was leaving the show after season seven, led to lots of on-set drama--especially between Gellar and co-star Alyson Hannigan.

Additionally, some have criticized her controlling approach with husband Freddy Prinze, Jr. She allegedly cut his former friends out of his life after the couple was married in 2002. That's definitely a sign of a healthy and totally normal relationship. One friend even alleges that Gellar herself called to inform them that their friendship with Prinze was over. That being said, the two are still married, so maybe Prinze Jr. finally learned to accept his subordinate role in the relationship!
