5 Times Bruce Willis Was the Coolest Dad

Bruce Willis turns 60 on March 19th so in honor of his birthday we want to take a look at the man behind the screen. While he's always cast as the tough guy, he actually has a softer side when it comes to what's really important in his life: his five children.

Appropriately, Willis is frequently hired to play the protective father in an action movie, and we suspect the emotions he portrays in these movies come from a very real place. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the 5 times that Bruce Willis reminded us that he was way cooler than our dads.

  1. “Who I am as a father is far more important to me than the public perception.”
When Bruce Willis said this he made the collective public say "Aww," and made us all jealous of his daughters. You know you have a keeper when your dad cares more about what you think of him than what others think of him.
  2. When he showed he cares about all kids, not just his own.
“I want the government to take care of people who need help, like the kids in foster care, the half a million kids who are in orphanages right now… there's tons, billions and billions of dollars that are just being wasted.” Yeah, it doesn't get much cooler than a tough guy with a soft side.
  3. The time he sacrificed his shoulder to save his onscreen daughter:
  4. He's Not Afraid to Say His Kids Are His Biggest Achievement
Willis said, “I'm much more proud of being a father than being an actor,” which is a pretty big statement considering how extensive his filmography is. While most fathers are proud of being parents, it’s still pretty great that Willis ranks it higher than any of his box office successes.
  5. Going Home Is His Favorite Part of the Day
Bruce shared this tidbit and gave us some insight into his daily motivation: “I just try to go to work, and concentrate on coming home to my girls.” Every kid looks forward to when dad comes home from work so it's pretty awesome that Bruce Willis looks forward to it too.
