John Travolta
John Travolta, movie-musical and blockbuster legend, captured the hearts of American audiences as a triple-threat actor, dancer, and singer. He can even be seen piloting his personal aircraft, including a Boeing 707-138.
Unfortunately for the Pulp Fiction star, a clear beginning of his descent occurred when he introduced Idina Menzel as “Adele Dazeem” at the 2014 Oscars. From weirdly grasping Menzel’s chin in apology at the next Oscars to creepily photobombing an unamused Scarlett Johanssen, fans have since recovered from the Travolta fever.
Kristen Stewart
Kristen Stewart shot to success alongside the 2008 worldwide phenomenon Twilight. Readers and viewers alike associated her with their beloved heroine up until the close of the movie franchise in 2012.
That same year, her cheating scandal with director Rupert Sanders on co-star Robert Pattinson shattered the fandom. The sound of Twihard hearts breaking echoed across the world as Edward and Bella came to an end, along with the chants of “Robsten forever.” She’s had various Hollywood roles since the scandal, but they always seem to bomb.
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Logan became a true celebrity after starring in the hit 1998 remake of The Parent Trap after starring as a recurring actress on the soap opera Another World. Later projects such as Freaky Friday and Mean Girls made her a household name for the ‘00 kids.
But a terrible reputation of tardiness, theft, substance abuse, and nightly partying deemed her a box-office terror to producers. Her canceled project Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, surely signals that it’s time for her to pass the torch.
Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen was once the sarcastic star of reality TV’s Two and a Half Men, among a medley of popular pre-2000 films. Apparently, the poor attitude of his TV persona Charlie Harper extended far past the small screen.
Sheen riddled tabloids with reports of substance abuse, marital issues, accusations of domestic violence, and use of derogatory language to his boss Chuck Lorre. Offensive comments eventually got Sheen fired from his starring role, plummeting him from being one of TV’s highest-paid actors to barely breaking $10 million in earnings. Big whoop!
Caitlyn Jenner
Caitlyn Jenner has been famous since her Olympic running career as Bruce Jenner, and the ever-rising notoriety of the Kardashian clan drug her into the drama. Once she transitioned from Bruce to Caitlyn, she was the face of tabloids and interviews everywhere, even sporting Glamour as 2015’s Woman of the Year.
Once the shock of her coming out wore off, she was no longer shielded from scrutiny. Her brief E! series I Am Cait was a major letdown for activists longing for transgender representation in reality TV. Her controversial comment, “At first I was not for [gay marriage],” during a 2015 interview on Ellen surely threw the curtain over her career as a socialite.
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton is the face of “famous for being famous.” Heiress to Hilton Hotels and unintentional star of the X-rated film 1 Night in Paris, her largest claim to fame emerged in the reality series The Simple Life.
Ironically, Hilton has lived everything but a simple life since her birth. But her prevalence as a socialite was quickly overtaken by the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Looks like she’ll have to rely on Yeezy partnerships to share a sliver of their spotlight.
Roseanne Barr
Rosanne Barr’s hilarious sitcom and dramedy Roseanne kept audiences laughing for more than nine seasons, including the much-anticipated revival. The show tackled a wide range of social and political issues, earning both praise and controversy. Barr's portrayal of a working-class family resonated with many viewers, and the show's success paved the way for other sitcoms featuring unconventional families.
The title actress soon found herself without her signature role after a blowout controversy. She couldn’t escape the effects of a racist tweet comparing former government official Valerie Jarrett to a monkey from Planet of the Apes. It looks like the series should have stopped at the cutting board.
O.J. Simpson
O.J. Simpson, once “The Juice” of American football, led a life of controversy after his 1994 acquittal for murdering his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and friend Ron Goldman. After serving time for a conviction of armed robbery and aggravated assault, he was released from prison, yet was banned from inhabiting the Sunshine State with his family like he planned.
Now he resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, and tweets incessantly in an attempt to connect with fans. Unfortunately for Simpson, many users are not impressed. His controversial past continues to haunt him and affects his online presence.
Tyra Banks
Tyra Banks: supermodel, actress, and reality TV star—yet detested by many of her fellow celebrities. As founder of America’s Next Top Model, she guided the series to become one of the longest-running reality shows in history.
While the show was of a similar caliber to Project Runway, her later entrepreneurial pursuits were short-lived. Her talk show FABlife was never renewed after the first season, and the opening of her theme park ModelLand has been indefinitely postponed since its original projection for May 2020. Although she landed a hosting gig on Dancing With the Stars, Season 26-winner Jordan Fisher told ET that the casting was “odd” and feared her changes to the show. Maybe say goodbye to smizing for a while!
Nicolas Cage
Nicholas Cage has starred in more than 103 films since his debut in Fast Times in 1982. Cult classics such as Face/Off and National Treasure defined him as a versatile actor in a range of hit-or-miss movies.
The last decade has been lackluster at best and littered with self-destructive behavior. While people don’t see his movies anymore, he lives on as a face of popular internet memes. Cage has the responsibility to take action for his mistakes, and part of the punishment is eternal meme-dom.
Iggy Azalea
Iggy Azalea, Australian-born rapper and songwriter, peaked in the early 2010s with catchy songs and flashy music videos. She appeared to follow the same path to stardom as contemporary singer Nicki Minaj but dropped off the radar before she truly “made it.”
A victim of constant scrutiny for her subpar on-the-spot rapping skills and accusations of cultural appropriation, she seemed to disappear after her debut album in 2014. When she returned with In My Defense in 2019, no one even seemed to notice.
Snooki
Snooki’s name has been infamous ever since her drunken appearances on the 2009 hit reality series Jersey Shore. Critics labeled Snooki's behavior on the show as crass—that's putting it lightly. But when her iconic hair pouf disappeared, so did her relevance.
She lingers in the public sphere via reality TV, interviews, WWE, and the recent cringefest How Far is Tattoo Far? With the end of her MTV show spinoff that rode Shore’s wave of success, it’s safe to say her iconic pouf is a thing of the past.
Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal—AKA Shaq—is a widely recognized basketball star and has been deemed one of the greatest athletes in history by the National Basketball Association. His NBA retirement in 2011 elicited wide-ranging lamentations from fans; however, he didn’t completely disappear.
After participating in frequent commercial spots and laughable film performances, he garnered a cheesy acting reputation. He’s now a sports analyst for Inside the NBA, so I guess he got out of the I’m-desperate-for-attention phase early!
Billy Ray Cyrus
Billy Ray Cyrus’s chart-topping debut “Achy Breaky Heart” was a hit of the ‘90s, quickly becoming his most distinctive song. His collaboration with daughter Miley Cyrus on Disney’s four-season series Hannah Montana introduced him to the younger generation and extended his music career into the late 2000s.
Unfortunately, Miley’s post-Disney antics distracted viewers from her father. His attempt to reclaim the spotlight occurred again in collaboration with Lil Nas X on the 2019 phenomenon “Old Town Road.” It was cool while it lasted, Billy, but maybe your mullet doesn’t need to come back.
Tyler Perry
Tyler Perry’s influence can never be undervalued. Hilarious and relatable, the original Madea films were cultural phenomenons that revolutionized the genre of comedy. Perry's commitment to storytelling and philanthropy earned him respect.
But countless tanked spin-offs prove that too much of the wacky grandmother can be anything but good. A 2019 interview with CNN revealed that Perry planned on retiring Madea, yet hinted that “maybe one day she’ll return, but for right now, no, I think I’m done.”
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey’s 1990 self-titled album granted her quick access to the A-list, and her holiday hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” will play on repeat in December for decades to come. Her grandiose performances and self-prescribed diva status was marketable during the popstar era, but is now just plain tacky.
Her failed 2016 New Year’s Eve lip-syncing stunt secured her place as the first meme of 2017. Essentially, listeners are more likely to scrutinize her vocals than praise, especially after insulting Nicki Minaj’s voice in a feud during American Idol.
Katherine Heigl
Former Grey’s Anatomy star and fashion model Katherine Heigl fell off the celebrity map once her primadonna reputation leaked. She won the Best Supporting Actress for Drama award in 2007 yet turned down another nomination the following year that she never recovered from.
The cast, crew, and creator of Grey’s were insulted by her claim that her role wasn’t worthy to win. Too little, too late for Heigl, it seems, because now her chances of another nomination are nonexistent.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson
Once a 2000s chart topper, 50 Cent’s rapping career launched him into stardom—but that fame slipped away once the music stopped.
Multiple failed business attempts and an unfortunate acting career later, he is the epitome of irrelevance. At least his music remains, because he’s not busting any box offices as a bankrupt actor.
Tony Hawk
Tony Hawk was many a novice-skateboarder’s idol and the inspiration for countless skateboarding-themed video games. The “Birdman” awed audiences with his flips and tricks, but no one seems to remember him off the ramps.
Despite his name acting as a household synonym for “skateboarder,” Hawk’s Twitter is full of anecdotes about people misidentifying him. Unfortunately, that’s a bad sign for relevancy!
The Olsen Twins
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen gained their celebrity from an early age. The late-’80s sitcom Full House displayed their baby-faced, charismatic personalities to all of America and even secured them an official club titled “Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Fun Club.”
Their early filmography is rife with cheesy twin movies, and they gained swaths of fame after the end of Full House. However, their refusal to participate in the semi-successful spinoff Fuller House disappointed fans of the classic sitcom. Maybe if they had participated in Fuller House instead of acting too proud for the spotlight, perhaps they’d be more relevant.
Hulk Hogan
Oh, brother! where to begin with this lovable WWF legend. Hogan’s charming persona defined his career as one of top entertainers in the industry. The Hulkamania revolution was no joke (even if it sounds like one).
His once-devoted fanbase has declined since the ‘80s as Hogan dedicated his efforts to cheap productions and reality TV. Nothing against the guy, but the only relevant “Hulk” is in The Avengers.
Tonya Harding
Tonya Harding will forever exist as the insecure figure skater who ruined another athlete’s chances for 1994 Olympic gold. While Nancy Kerrigan’s leg eventually healed, Harding’s reputation remained statically infamous.
Oddly enough, the release of the 2018 blockbuster I, Tonya featuring Margot Robbie helped Harding secure spots in insurance commercials, multiple major interviews, and even Dancing With the Stars. At this point, it’s getting a little tiring. You’re forgiven, Tonya, so let’s all move on.
Cher
Deemed the “Goddess of Pop,” Cher has been a music icon since the mid-‘60s. Paired with then-husband Sonny Bono, they sent shockwaves through both the music and television industries.
The feminist notes of her music still reside within listeners today, but her constant style-swaps and outrageous social media presence has proved that she’s trying too hard to stay relevant.
Macklemore
Macklemore has more than $20 in his pocket after the global success of the rap “Thrift Shop” shot Macklemore’s net worth to about $25 million.
Since the 2013 follow-up hit “Can’t Hold Us” featuring Ryan Lewis, he hasn’t been able to top his original album. Once his collaboration with Lewis suddenly came to an end in 2017, so did his relevance. At this point, he should stick to popping tags instead of making futile comebacks.
Madonna
Madonna’s fame was no joke in the ‘80s, and she’s held the title “Queen of Pop” for decades since. Despite her single “Living For Love” being pulled from Radio 1, “Like a Virgin” and “Vogue” are still used in throwback playlists.
But once she flashed her butt at the 2015 Grammy Awards, fans started to realize that she was a little behind on the trends. Not only was she parroting every move of younger popstars, her tone-deaf tweets pointed to sinking stardom.
Shia LaBeouf
Shia LaBeouf will forever be remembered as the “Just Do It” guy, even after his Even Stevens fame runs dry.
He won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2003 but since has riddled the public with odd musings and questionable behavior. Not to mention his recent questionable filmography littered with trashy action movies. Just don’t, Shia.
Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston is pop-culturally referenced as Rachel from the hit sitcom Friends, which had a resurgence of popularity in recent years with its inclusion in Netflix’s repertoire.
Her current television pursuit, The Morning Show, is receiving modest reviews, but viewers seem more concerned with old roles and supposed romance with ex-Brad Pitt more than her current career.
Britney Spears
Britney Spears was a wee 16-year old when her single “...Baby One More Time” shattered the 1998 pop charts. Her school-girl persona and controversial music videos shot her to stardom as one of America’s sweethearts.
However, 2007 hit hard with a publicized divorce from Kevin Federline, multiple trips to rehab, a head-shaving incident, attacking paparazzi with an umbrella, and—more recently—burning down her home gym with a candle and conservatorship drama. Spears needs to take a looong break from fame (and open flames) then perhaps she wouldn’t require constant attention.
Amanda Bynes
Amanda Bynes is most notable for her work as a child actress spanning the years 1990 to 2000, including her own self-titled spin-off series of All That.
A Britney-style 2013 breakdown and postponement of a 2018 comeback upset fans beyond repair. Even terrible face tattoos can’t hold the attention of paparazzi for long.
Jaden Smith
Jaden Smith, legacy actor under parents Will and Jada Smith, was cute in The Pursuit of Happyness alongside his father and gave a respectable performance in the mix-reviewed remake of The Karate Kid in 2010.
But that same year, the release of his sister Willow’s one-hit-wonder “Whip My Hair” shoved him aside in favor of her “hairography.” The sci-fi/action flop After Earth paired with a fake-deep Twitter account shows that he needs major help, Mr. Miyaga style.
Chris Brown
According to many, Chris Brown was once widely considered both one of the most influential and successful R&B singers in history, dubbing him the "King of R&B." Sure, his music isn't bad, but once news broke of sweeping domestic violence allegations against then-partner Rihanna, his beats suddenly lost their sparkle. Somehow, Brown still had the confidence to believe that this incident wouldn't affect his popularity. That's rich!
During an interview with Larry King back in 2009, Brown likened his relationship with Rihanna to William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet. He said, “It was sort of like Romeo and Juliet story, like both sides not wanting us to kind of have contact so we just got away," largely blaming the media for driving his relationship apart. We think the NY Daily News couldn't say it better, sarcastically writing that they forgot about the scene in which "Romeo assaults Juliet in a rented Lamborghini."
Lea Michele
Actress and former Broadway singer Lea Michele is best remembered for her time acting on the hit TV show Glee, which ran from 2009 to 2015. But that doesn't necessarily mean that she is remembered fondly. Adie from acting like a total diva during most — if not all — of her other roles outside of Glee, it was from her time on the show that she received the most backlash.
During summer 2020, Glee actress Samantha Marie Ware accused Michele of rudeness and acting out microaggressions against her during Season 6 of the series. Four other actors from the show, including Heather Morris and Alex Newell, corroborated that Michele was certainly a bully on set, but a few clarified that she wasn't racist. Since this incident, we haven't seen much of Michele except for when her name pops up on "Celebrity Jerks" articles across the internet and a random 2019 Christmas album.
Stacey Dash
Stacey Dash was an actress and talk show host before she dove into the wonderful world of politics. Best known for starring Dionne in the '95 cult classic Clueless, we're sad that Dash took such a turn. Aside from her talk shows and starring in a few films that we can't remember the names of, Dash has taken it upon herself to throw away her one-hit-wonder acting career to follow in the footsteps of Ronald Regan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Starting in 2012, Dash openly expressed her surprisingly conservative political views, from criticizing celebrities like Jay-Z and Beyonce for going on vacation to claiming that transgender rights somehow "infringe" on her own, ET reports. She even goes so far as to say that transgender people should just "go in the bushes" so she doesn't have to be bothered by them. To make a long story short, Dash withdrew from her 2018 political race one month after joining. As for her other options, unfortunately for Dash, there probably isn't much she can do to revive her dead entertainment career.
Ashley Greene
Unlike some of her formerly famous counterparts, Ashley Greene isn't fighting tooth and nail to be in the spotlight after the tail end of her Twilight breakthrough role as Alice Cullen. However, she is continuing to act in films. There's nothing wrong with doing so, but let's not pretend that we've heard of any of them.
But we think that anyone can realize once an actress willingly stars in a direct-to-TV Christmas film, their career has taken a turn for the worse. In 2019, Greene starred in Christmas on My Mind as the main character Lucy, not that the role means anything to us. Plus, this film wasn't just any old Christmas rom-com, it was a Hallmark exclusive buried under the thousands of other Christmas films released that season.
Christina Milian
When Christina Milian's first hit "Dip It Low" peaked at #5 on the U.S. Billboard charts, her career peaked as well. A few other singles like "Whatever U Want" and "AM to PM" managed to scrape into the Top 40, but Milian has always been defined by her "Dip It Low" success.
Milian has always preferred acting, it seems, despite her brief musical success. But when Milian scored lead roles in the direct-to-DVD Bring It On sequel and an ABC Christmas film called Christmas Cupid, it was clear that Milian's entertainment career was running on fumes. At least we can still jam to "Dip It Low" for old time's sake.
Cody Simpson
Australian singer, dancer, actor, and model Cody Simpson was hot stuff in the early 2010s but hasn't done much to skyrocket his career since the release of his most recent album Free other than starring as Dmitry in Anastasia on Broadway and winning The Masked Singer Australia. Broadway is one thing, but reality TV doesn't speak so highly of where his music career is headed.
The last time Simpson released music was in 2015, which was nearly seven years ago! He managed to return to the spotlight in 2019 when he publicly dated Miley Cyrus who had recently divorced on-again, off-again partner Liam Hemsworth. That relationship didn't last, however, and now he's back scrambling for attention.
Kim Basinger
Kim Basinger is an American actress, singer, and former fashion model. She started her acting career in 1976 after a successful modeling stint in New York. Her most memorable roles include the Bond girl from Never Say Never Again in '83, 9 1/2 Weeks, Batman, and L.A. Confidential, the latter of which won her an Academy Award.
It looks like the peak of her career occurred back in the mid-'90s, because the films Basinger's starred in since then have barely scraped the same success as her earlier works. Unless you count her brief appearances in the erotic film adaptation of E.L. James's Fifty Shades Darker — the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey — her attempts to re-create her 9 1/2 Weeks success are just sad.
Jamie Lynn Spears
While Britney Spears has her own issues to work out in regards to realizing where her fame has left her, Jamie Lynn Spears is truly the worst offender. Her older sister Britney was the one who actually achieved fame in the first place and Jamie Lynn rode that success into Zoey 101 and various record deals.
Now that the world realizes how much Britney Spears's family wronged her during the past few decades, Jamie Lynn has landed back in the spotlight, but for all the wrong reasons. It seems that she hopes to capitalize off of her sister's trauma using a book deal to earn the favor of the masses once again, but her fame is long gone. Yikes... Who's going to tell her?
J.K. Rowling
As the creator of Harry Potter and the first billionaire author in history, J.K. Rowling needs no introduction. Many believed that Rowling was a saint up until a few years ago when she released a slew of problematic tweets. The controversy started on Twitter in June 2020 when Rowling tweeted, "‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?'"
Many people found issues with the blatant transphobia of Rowling's tweet, which she'd double-down on a year later with other tweets as well as outlining"five reasons for being worried about the new trans activism." Now, people have outright stopped listening to Rowling's opinions, especially if she's tweeting them. We all still love Harry Potter but can't care less about the author grabbing at straws to shout her bad opinions that nobody asked for.
The Duggars
The Duggars are an infamous family of 20+ located in the southern state of Arkansas. The family gained notoriety for their TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting, which featured the patriarch Jim Bob and his incredibly large and in charge family of Christian kids. The family received modest success for their television shows, but it all came crashing down when their eldest child Josh was exposed for adultery, assault against his younger sisters, and possession of child pornography.
In fact, the peak of Josh and the Duggars' fame came in 2015 after his assaults were revealed, making him among the 15 most hated people of the year, according to The Washington Post. Somehow, the Duggars have managed to secure spin-offs of their original show as long as they excluded Josh. But we think it's time for them to forget about their 15 minutes of fame... Everyone else has!
Steven Seagal
Where do we even start with Steven Seagal... This actor, martial artist, and musician was an undeniable talent back in the '90s. From Under Siege to The Patriot, his acting career was of modest success. He's best known for his aikido skills and singing with Stevie Wonder and Tony Rebel on his debut studio album. What could have happened to make him so desperate for fame that he started exclusively starring in direct-to-video films?
The too-numerous-to-count allegations and lawsuits made against Seagal started back in 1991 when three female employees of Warner Bros accused him of assault. Over the years, Seagal has been embroiled in at least 7 other scandals that either resulted in charges or settlement. This gut really needs to take a break... It's obvious he's not cut out for the industry! Plus, nobody cares about his work anymore, so what's the point?
Chevy Chase
Actor Chevy Chase made a name for himself on Saturday Night Live with the segment "Weekend Update" as well as for working with comedy company National Lampoon. While many of his former SNL co-workers weren't his biggest fans, everyone loves Chase's portrayal of Clark W. Griswold in all five of his National Lampoon films — particularly Christmas Vacation. Yet Chase has always been described by his co-workers as prickly at best.
His rude behavior and difficult temper onset resulted in a lifetime ban from SNL and his early exit from the sitcom Community. If you manage to make someone as goofy as Will Ferrel never want to work with you again, then perhaps you are the problem. Since leaving Community, he's returned for a cameo appearance on Season 5, but his time to shine is over.
Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson is renowned for his work in Hollywood, which ranges from directing to screenwriting and acting. From Braveheart to The Passion of the Christ, many describe Gibson as passionate. However, he's not always passionate in the ways that make him a creative genius. In fact, the same passion that launched him to fame has tarnished his career.
CNN reports that a former co-worker described Gibson routinely having "scary outbursts," including "rancid" "anti-Semitic rants," threats against his exes, and "hate-filled diatribes" for seemingly any famous figure he could think of. Sometimes an artist's lunacy can be easily conflated with a dedication to their craft... Needless to say, people are tired of him and he's desperately trying to stay relevant even as his directorial credits dwindle.
Ellen DeGeneres
For some, it's surprising to see Ellen DeGeneres on this list. For others, it makes perfect sense because they've kept up with her story. This TV personality is best known for hosing her titular talk show Ellen where she grills celebrities about their love life, plays funny games with guests, features child geniuses, and gives away tons of money and gifts to audience members. That doesn't sound so bad!
Unfortunately, that's not even half of it. DeGeneres isn't even hosting her own show anymore because of the controversies that broke in July 2020. Buzzfeed released articles alleging that the set of Ellen was a toxic workplace littered with microaggressions. These comments were corroborated by a few celebrities as well, including trans makeup artist Nikkie de Jager. Needless to say, her fame has tanked since these allegations broke and she kept trying to keep her show alive when she wasn't even the host!
Goldie Hawn
American actress Goldie Hawn got her big break on the NBC comedy show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In during the late '60s, which led to her winning an Oscar and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress thanks to her performance in Cactus Flower. Hawn's career thrived until she took a break in 2002 after starring in The Banger Sisters.
Hawn decided to make a triumphant return to Hollywood in 2013 when she guest-starred in... Phineas and Ferb? Obviously, fans weren't missing her that much during her hiatus. From Snatched to The Christmas Chronicles, let's just say Hawn is trying to make something that isn't in the cards for her anymore.
Abby Lee Miller
Abby Lee Miller is the notorious dance coach who made the reality show Dance Moms an eight-season hit. This dance instructor was known for her harsh teaching style and no-tolerance rules for crying, whining, skipping practice, or drama (yet there always happened to be plenty of drama from the moms).
Looking back on the series, there are a lot of problems, but we'll mainly be discussing today how Miller tanked her career. In mid-2016, she was caught in bankruptcy fraud and was sent to prison. Plus, she was slammed for her alleged racism on the set of Dance Moms. Now, Miller turns to Instagram to keep her stardom alive.
Tiger Woods
Top golfer Tiger Woods was once the top dog of his entire sport. Winner of countless PGA tours, men's major championships, and numerous golfing records. But despite being regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time — a distinction that earned him a spot in the World Golf Hall of Fame — Woods just isn't as popular as he once was.
It's as simple as that. From cheating controversies to domestic abuse allegations and DUIs, Woods has done a number on his own reputation. He's still competing in worldwide golf championships, but it feels like a flimsy attempt to stay famous at this point. Do we blame him? Not really, but he could probably use some time out of the spotlight.
Rita Ora
Poor Rita Ora... It's tough to say if she'll ever realize that fame is in her past. This British singer and actress got famous from D.J. Fresh's 2012 #1 single "Hot Right Now," leading Ora to release her debut album Ora at #1 that same year. 2012 was the year of Rita Ora because she had the most number-one singles in the UK that year. But after her fifteen minutes of fame, people stopped caring much about her.
That sounds harsh, but we can't fake the truth. In a stunt to get fans hyped about her music in 2014, Ora tweeted, “Dropping my new song monday if this get 100,000 retweets.” Embarrassingly, her 4 million-strong Twitter following only managed to pull 2,000 retweets, leaving Ora defeated enough to delete the post and claim that somebody hacked her account.
Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff is one of the few former Disney child stars who seemed to have grown up to be a normal person who knew her worth outside of being a celebrity. Unfortunately, the Lizzie McGuire star has been auditioning for more and more parts recently that fans largely view as a cringe attempt to break back into Hollywood.
Cringiest of all, Duff stars as the lead character of the dreaded How I Met Your Mother spin-off series titled How I Met Your Father. The series already garnered terrible reviews just a month after its premiere. One Rotten Tomatoes critic wrote, "How I Met Your Father takes great pains to update its predecessor's formula for a modern audience, but this stilted retread only amounts to a painful slog."
Honey Boo Boo & Family
Everyone remembers Toddlers & Tiaras star Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson and hilarious Extreme Couponers mother June "Bug" Shannon. Their participation in these hit TLC reality shows launched the duo into stardom and was enough to score the whole family their own reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
We won't say that Alana herself doesn't realize she's not as famous as she used to be because she appears to be comfortable where she is, participating in interviews, photoshoots, and TV programs every now and then. Her mother, however, can't stay away from reality TV from The Doctors and Mama June: From Not to Hot and even The Masked Singer!
