7 Wanda Sykes Movies We Love

Wanda Sykes is known for her stand up comedy routines, but she's also been in several movies that are worth watching. While she acted in some movies, she also provided the voice for amusing characters in several animated films. Here's a comprehensive list of Sykes' best movie work.

  1. "Monster-in-Law"
Even though she had a supporting role in this hilarious rom-com starring Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda, Sykes' stood out due to her attitude and razor-sharp ego cutting jokes. She was the perfect antidote to Jane Fonda's character's crazy nature.
  2. "Over the Hedge"
Sykes lent her voice to Stella the skunk in this animated movie. Her ability to make the outrageous funny was the perfect match for this spunky skunk that tired of being rejected because of her stench.
  3. "My Super-Ex Girlfriend"
In contrast to some of her other roles, Sykes played an uptight boss in this comedy, but don't worry she was still really funny acting alongside Uma Thurman, Luke Wilson, and Anna Faris.
  4. "Brother Bear 2"
With a sense of humor like hers, it's no surprise that Disney would want Sykes to do voice acting in Brother Bear 2 as Innoko the kind of crazy shaman  Wanda Sykes is just good at playing the ridiculous.
  5. "Evan Almighty"
In this funny Steve Carrell movie, Wanda Sykes played a congressional staffer named Rita. Is it any surprise that a movie featuring both Carrell and Sykes would be knee-jerk funny?
  6. "Rio"
While it was only a small part, Sykes voiced Chloe the goose in Rio alongside Jane Lynch (who voice Alice the goose). Naturally, her character provided comedic entertainment, even though she was bullying the main character, Blu.
  7. "Ice Age: Continental Drift"
Sykes plays a crazy, yet lovabel old sloth called Granny in this popular chidlren's movie. Even though the other sloths in her family didn't want her, the audience easily falls in love with her due to Sykes' humor and spin on the character.
