RV
We asked AI what RVs will look like in 500 years, and the results were pretty cool if you ask us. Here you see an RV decked out with LED neon accent lighting that just screams future. Already luxury cars are coming with LED accent lighting, and undoubtedly it will be incorporated in more vehicles in the future, including RVs.
Visibility is important out on the road, so features like this will be important as more vehicles grace the highway. This spacious RV is also likely powered by electricity rather than gas, or perhaps even solar energy or fusion. This also looks a lot more durable than the RVs we have in the present, and a probably a whole lot easier to call home. If this is the RV of the future, we might actually want one.
Trailer
Of course, if you don't want to lug around in an RV, your other option is to opt for a trailer that you can move around while traveling or find a nice spot to camp for good. Trailers have been around for a while for centuries now in one form or another, and we imagine they'll be around a lot longer than that.
Evidently, AI agrees as it created this Airstream-reminiscent trailer that would easily be a suitable living condition for someone struggling or someone who just doesn't care to be tied down to one place. And we have to say, we definitely like the retro vibes of this trailer with a touch of cyberpunk.
Apartments
One thing is certain about the future, as the population grows further and further, we are going to need plenty of housing to accommodate all those people, so apartments are definitely going to be a thing in 500 years. And yes, that means we still have to deal with landlords.
Nevertheless, AI shows us a future apartment complex looking a whole lot more homely and sustainable with balcony gardens and state-of-the-art architecture. It almost looks like something out of a Star Wars movie - only with more plants. As cities grow, we'll need to incorporate more plants in our cities for the sake of pollution and having breathable air.
Suburban Home
As for middle-class accommodations, we have the ever-popular suburban home. This is the home that epitomizes the American dream. While there's no white picket fence, this is a design of the future, and in the future, you don't need a fence because you have lights to show where your property lines are.
You can also be sure there will be some significant advancements in home security and structural integrity so homes like this can withstand just about anything, including earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, and just about anything else. While the owner of this home might be on the wealthier side, it's a dream home for a lot of people, provided it has a pool.
Small Suburb
This small suburban home is just what you’d expect to find in suburban community, only with a small twist – it being 500 years in the future. For the most part, much of the classic suburban architecture is all there with the roof shingles, white fence - and all.
The nice touch is the modern greenhouse on the second floor. An indoor garden almost seems like a must these days, especially with the cost of produce going through the roof. Why not have your actual tomatoes literally growing through the roof instead? Seems like a no-brainer.
Beach House
As we move to the coast, we can see a beach house of the future. It has wall-to-wall glass windows, allowing as much natural light to get in as possible - so you can get a good view of the beach. After all, why would you live near the beach if not for the view?
Since there are no curtains, perhaps these windows can be tinted during the night, so nobody can see into your home. Or maybe the people living here just don't care. Regardless, it's certainly a lovely home but not one most people will have as most people can't afford a beachfront property, I'm sorry to say.
Mansion
I have to say, if I was filthy rich, this is probably exactly what my home would look like, especially with the surrounding trees and the fountain in the foreground. It's like a little taste of paradise. And the architecture is certainly beautiful as well, giving off those Roman vibes we all crave.
One thing to be sure is that Greek and Roman architecture never really goes out of style. It's incorporated in homes today, it's incorporated in our government buildings, even though the style is thousands of years old. So, if it can survive thousands of years, it can survive another 500 years, giving us a fancy mansion like this.
Cabin
For tree and nature lovers, there’s no better place to call home than a cabin. While this cabin looks like nothing you’d expect a cabin today to look, it’s probably far more self-sustaining and practical. It looks like a home that would last many years to come and you probably wouldn’t have to worry about termites.
We love the mix of natural and futuristic architecture in this cabin and feel like this would certainly be a pleasant place to call home. Again, another paradise for people to escape the big city and all the noisy people in it. But if you like the rugged and classic cabin look, we’ll probably still have those too.
Condo
Ah, the condominium – basically an apartment that you own. These condos are rising high above the city in this futuristic marvel of a tower. Again, we have balcony gardens – a must – and great views all around, which is definitely what you would want if you were to own a condo in the city.
Hopefully, there’s some space to park your flying car but we aren’t really seeing any platforms for that, so maybe not. Sad news for our flying car hopes. Nevertheless, we could easily see one of these being built in 500 years’ time. Its too bad none of us will get to see this become a reality – or will we?
Studio Apartment
If you are wondering how the other half lives, behold the one-room studio apartment of the future. There’s not much space to be found here but at least it offers a gorgeous view of the night sky, standing high above the city below. It may not be much, but that view is to die for – unless you are afraid of heights.
This is what most in the city will likely be able to afford unless they are making some good money. Hopefully the elevator is always working, because we can’t imagine carrying groceries up that high, nor would we want to.
Also, that bed certainly looks comfy and if you are adult, what else is really more entertaining than a nap?
Country House
For as long as there are people living on this earth, there will be those of us wanting to get far away from all of them. There may not be much surrounding this home, but there’s plenty of peace and quiet that will make driving to and from the city well worth it.
It may be rarer to find a house like this in the future, but in some places, it will certainly be achievable. And if we actually achieve our goals in manufacturing more sustainable cars, we won’t even have to worry about filling our gas tanks to get there.
Desert Home
This home embraces the classic architecture you’d fine in the desert. Its modern pueblo style, you’d probably find in a place outside of Vegas or elsewhere, assuming there’s enough water out there to still sustain Vegas. According to AI, there will be and even this home has a lovely, filled patio swimming pool.
That stone roof and those window walls provide the home with astounding luxury which you would at least want if you were going to live out in the middle of the desert. Just make sure you aren’t stumbling out in the dark to far to admire it because you might run into one of those many cacti plants.
Farmhouse
This farmhouse is definitely far out in the future in terms of its design, looking like something right out of a Star Wars movie only with a rural backdrop. While its not the look of a farmhouse most would imagine, the farming industry is more into the future than most.
Already, farmers are implementing drones for maintenance and well will undoubtedly see that even more in the future, especially as drones become more and more affordable. You can see in this image, multiple drones in the sky as the need for manual labor on farms will likely be a lot less prevalent in 500 years.
New York City Flat
Nothing says luxury in the Big City more than a New York City flat. This spacious, modern flat is the epitome of luxury with its Zen-inspired décor and breathtaking view of the New York skyline. You can just imagine yourself laying in that chaise lounge chair, taking a nap after a long day.
And what day would be complete without a good book and a nice cup of warm tea? A flat like this might end up costing you millions, but if you are in the big city, you are probably getting paid well. Above the ceiling appears to be some kind of security camera system, which would seem essential for a home like this.
Townhouse
A townhouse is a property with multiple floors, often connected with one or two other homes that share walls which you’ll often find in a city. In the future, you can likely expect a lot more of these as they’ll be a necessity as cities become denser and more populated.
This townhouse of the future looks similar to the apartment shown earlier with its plentiful vegetation thanks to its outdoor gardens, delivering some much-needed clean air. The warm and welcoming look of this townhome undoubtedly provides some solace from the excitement of the big city.
Vineyard Home
Its safe to assume that we will be drinking wine in 500 years, given that we have already been drinking it for thousands of years already. That being said, we’ll be needing winemakers and those winemakers will need homes. According to AI, these are what those homes will look like – more or less.
This vineyard home looks reminiscent of the Sidney Opera House and provides a beautiful view of the surrounding vineyards. Undeniably a warm and inviting exterior, this is the peak of luxury, and likely something you’d find in Napa Valley in the distant future.
Two-Bedroom
A more tech-savvy tenant, no doubt, the owner of this two-bedroom apartment doesn't keep his space as neat, but it's nonetheless a fascinating collection of clutter. Interestingly, the lighting situation is somewhat similar to what you see in the New York Flat image, which tells us AI just might really know something about the future.
This apartment definitely screams future in every regard. But it still has a warm and welcoming feel. Platform beds appear to be the rage in 500 years, and it looks like standing desks are too. Evidently, paper books aren't going anywhere, which is a happy surprise.
Modular Home
Modular homes, sometimes called prefabricated homes, are essentially factory-made homes, constructed in sections and put together on site. With its efficient and streamlined construction process, you can expect more homes like these in the future, particularly as demand for housing rises with the growing population.
While not as beautiful and unique as some of the homes in the future, or even now in the present, they can be a lot more affordable, and ultimately, a home is a home. This one looks spacious enough that it probably doesn’t even matter too much what the outside actually looks like.
Mobile Home
Much like modular homes, mobile homes are also prefabricated, but the advantage is that you can move them just about anywhere since they are built on a steel frame with wheels. In a fast-moving world with a changing environment, a mobile home really makes practical sense as it will in the future.
According to AI, this is what the future of mobile homes might look like. While the future design is far out from the ones of the present, it's still instantly recognizable as a mobile home. Hopefully, it looks a lot comfier on the inside than on the outside.
Houseboat
Just as it sounds, a houseboat is a boat and a house. Its basically a mobile home, but instead of being built on a frame with wheels, it's built out of a boat, so you can pretty much move it anywhere out on the open ocean.
With rising sea levels due to global warming, it may make just make a lot more sense for people on the coast to have one of these rather than a beach house. You'd still have to worry about hurricanes of course, but that's a whole other story.
Superyacht
While technically not designed as a home, a superyacht like this could easily serve as one for the ridiculously rich. Worth millions of dollars today, this type of personal property of the wealthy can cost nearly 20 times more than the cost of a half-million-dollar family home.
Undoubtedly, we'll see some of these superyachts in the future with high-tech features and state-of-the-art construction. While most people will never set foot on a yacht like this, some people will indeed call a place like this home. Maybe we can all look forward to Below Deck 2500 and live vicariously through that crew.
Cottage
This is what we got after asking AI to draw us up a cottage from 500 years into the future. The cottage, looking fresh in the French countryside, looks like a place stuck in time, giving us hope that not everything will be flat screens and neon lights in the future.
While we certainly welcome technological advancements, there's nothing like a nice escape away from all the electronic noise. Hopefully, there are plenty of properties like this in the future, because there's really nothing as heartwarming as a beautiful cottage surrounded by the natural countryside.
Mountain Home
What better place to escape than the mountains? A place where Wi-Fi signals are spotty, and nothing but nature surrounds you. This mountain home doesn't look too technologically advanced but in its simplicity, its exactly what you want when you are living or just visiting the mountains.
It looks pretty cold there but plenty warm inside. The roof is covered with solar panels that appear as though they would collect plenty of solar energy. This is exactly what you would want living in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully, the house is also avalanche-proof.
Castle
Without a doubt the home of someone tremendously important, or at least very rich, this castle in the mountains is certainly a sight to behold. Looking like something straight out of a fairytale but with a futuristic twist, its too bad we’ll never get to see it.
This futuristic marvel may be expected around 500 years’ time or at least something a lot like it. Already we have some pretty majestic castles around the world and hopefully we can indeed expect many more, because who doesn’t enjoy walking around a luxurious, ancient - or really any kind of castle?
Bungalow
Simplicity and functionality will be the most important thing for many people living in the future, and a bungalow like this should serve them well. While it may look more like an office building to us, someone may call this home in the future - someone with a really cool car.
Low-profile, compact and cozy, we can easily imagine this as a future home design. And we can all hope that there will be places out in nature like this that we can still have an opportunity to call home. While 500 years may seem far out in the future, in the grand scheme of things, it can happen in the blink of an eye.
