Best: Rege-Jean Page
A classic black suit doesn’t have to be boring, and Regé-Jean Page made sure his beautifully tailored black suit wasn’t. His silky collared shirt lacks visible buttons, adding a fun flair to this otherwise classic look.
Of course, if anyone was going to pull off the full black suit, it was going to be this tall drink of water. He stood tall, and we loved to see it. What else would you expect from the Duke of Hastings?
Worst: Ali Wong
Emmy winner Ali Wong’s outfit may have gotten her “best dressed” at a 6th-grade dance but not on the Emmy red carpet.
Nothing on the custom Louis Vuitton dress felt like it went together, from the mesh overlay on the silver beaded bodice to the floral skirt.
Best: Dominique Fishback
Inspired by old Hollywood, Dominique Fishback’s Mui Mui dress is a dream come to life. The full-figured skirt, flowing train, and glittering details turned Fishback into a princess in front of our very eyes.
Fishback was nominated for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for her role as Dre in Swarm. Ali Wong ended up winning for her role in Beef, but Fishback was beautiful enough to steal the show.
Worst: Calista Flockhart
Calista Flockhart wore a Giorgio Armani Privé dress that threw us back to the worst of ‘80s prom fashion with a frilly tuxedo-inspired top half.
The shape and design of the bottom half felt disconnected from the top, although we think that may be for the best.
Best: Claire Danes
Claire Danes wore a vintage Balmain dress. The front exuded understated elegance, while the back gave the drama we all crave.
Bejeweled panels on her shoulder blades held the fabric of the dress together as it transformed into the backless dream we saw before us.
Worst: Diplo
Diplo’s outfit was forgettable at best, with a plaid suit and white collared shirt that looked straight off the rack. If you’re going to go to the Emmys in a basic suit, it should at least be a nice basic suit.
This outfit reminds us of the uncle who shows up at the family grill-out and desperately spends the whole time trying to convince all his nieces and nephews that he's cool. We get it, Diplo — you're edgy.
Best: Heidi Klum
Bright, bold colors are always a risk, but Heidi Klum’s Tony Ward gown was worth the reward.
Her one-shouldered aqua-blue dress hugged her figure beautifully with wave-like ruching before flaring out into a beautiful train. Now, that is how you channel your inner mermaid.
Worst: Patricia Arquette
Patricia Arquette wore a floor-length gold… dress? Shirt and skirt combo? We’re not really sure, but whatever it is, it falls flat. The matronly outfit doesn’t compliment the beauty or youth Arquette exudes.
In the past, Arquette looked amazing at award shows, but recently, she's been wearing outfits that are more and more bizarre. Is this the start of her showing us her real fashion sense? It's questionable at best.
Best: Jenny Ortega
Jenna Ortega donned a sheer Dior Haute Couture dress with flower embroidery and a structured skirt.
The dress not only looked beautiful but also showed Ortega’s versatility in the fashion world by straying far from the gothic style of her beloved Wednesday Addams's character.
Worst: Quinta Brunson
Quinta Brunson made history with her Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, but her Christian Dior dress has people talking for the wrong reasons.
The shape, color, and cute little bow had so much potential… if only the dress hadn’t been crumpled at the bottom of a laundry basket before the show.
Best: Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl’s Emmy outfit just screams old Hollywood glamor. The top of the strapless red dress by Ream Archa placed fabric together in a way that resembled flower petals, with a silver broach at the waistline that was the center of the bloom.
A matching silver necklace and clutch tied the look together. It had been a while since Katherine came to an Emmy event, and we were happy to see her.
Worst: Retta
Retta’s dress looks more like a child’s mermaid costume than a designer gown, with its fluorescent yellow top and blue bottom.
The best part of the outfit may have been the Apple Watch on her wrist.
Best: Sophia Di Martino
Sophia Di Martino proved to be an icon in the Nafsika Skourti ‘The Eden Trophy’ gown. The long-sleeved dress has a tulip embroidery that snakes around the neck and chest and can’t help but mesmerize viewers.
She's embodying all the old Hollywood actresses we love, like Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren, in all the right ways. Nothing says classy like Old Hollywood.
Worst: Simona Tabasco
When looking at Simona Tabasco’s Emmy look, you may be reminded of a scrapbook page.
Her custom Marni dress looks like it was constructed from stickers placed haphazardly on top of each other until something in the shape of a dress was produced.
Best: Susan Soon He Stanton
Susan Soon He Stanton was an absolute vision in red as she won an Emmy for her work in HBO’s Succession.
The flow of the gown paired perfectly with its puffy sleeves, creating an elegant and timeless look. The matching red lip was just the icing on the cake!
