Celebrities Who Are Open About Having Plastic Surgery

Bella Hadid

Bella Hadid

Model Bella Hadid opened up about her personal regrets surrounding plastic surgery. In March 2022, she came clean to Vogue about a nose job she had at just 14 years old, citing deep-rooted insecurities. As the "uglier sister" when compared to blonde supermodel sibling Gigi, Hadid believed she needed to fix her nose to measure up. Nearly a decade later, she regrets getting rid of the "nose of [her] ancestors."

Before interviewing with Vogue, Hadid avoided the topic of cosmetic procedures, so the fact that she openly mourned her old teenage nose sent internet fans into a frenzy. People everywhere are calling out Bella's mother Yolanda for allowing her to get the surgery at such a young age. But no matter whose fault it is, she can never go back, so now all Bella can do is live with the decision and continue being honest about it.

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton

From fake hair to fake breasts, this country star is arguably the most open person in Hollywood regarding her surgeries. Nobody's surprised that legendary musician Dolly Parton has undergone oodles of cosmetic procedures; it's pretty obvious. But if you're too young, you might not know how open, honest, and confident Parton actually is about it In 2003, she told Oprah, "I'm a cartoon, so I just look the same all the time. I do whatever I need to do. I don't overdo it, but... I'm kind of like a show dog, you know. I just have to keep myself up."

Some critics might disagree that she never "overdoes" it, but it's not like she's trying to hide it, either. 17 years later, she opened up on The Oprah Conversation once again without shame: "I'll look as young as my plastic surgeons will allow me and [with] all the makeup and lighting and all that." While many stars are regretful or secretive about their surgeries, Parton takes all of the unwarranted criticism in stride. She does what she wants and doesn't apologize for it!

Katy Perry

Katy Perry

People argue over if things like filler for lips and eyes count as plastic surgery, and pop star Katy Perry seems to think she isn't part of that group. Even so, the "Teenage Dream" singer admitted to Refinery29 that she's "done lasers and got injections under [her] eyes for the hollowing" but "haven't had any [plastic surgery]." Perry doesn't regret the work she's gotten, either.

"I'd recommend [filler] for everyone who wants a solution for their dark circles," she explained, clarifying that the rest of her "assets" aren't fake. "People tend to think they are fake, but it doesn't really matter... We're getting away from that negative stigma about physical alterations... If someone wants a nose job that makes them feel better, and they love their profile more because of it, it's like, go ahead! Do whatever makes you feel better about yourself. Stay in therapy, but get it, girl."

Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford

Bombshell supermodel and mother Cindy Crawford tries to take care of her skin as naturally as possible but she admits that it would be dishonest to say her youthful glow is all-natural. "I'm not going to lie to myself, past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your asking but, in order to restore elasticity, all I can really count on is vitamin injections, botox, and collagen," Crawford told InStyle Magazine

She loves how injections keep her looking young but is careful to recommend them without also advising young hopefuls about naturally taking care of their bodies. "I have a very simple, healthy life, which works miracles. I drink a lot of water, watch what I eat, and exercise... but I owe the quality of my skin to my cosmetic surgeon."

Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is known for her flexible acting style and wide-ranging array of abilities when it comes to performance. As for her personality, she's as funny as can be while still remaining humble, honest, and respectably private about her life. She doesn't share everything about herself to the public, yet does when she feels like it's right.

For instance, Curtis told The Telegraph in 2002 all about her experimentation with plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures, no matter how temporary. "I've done it all. I've had a little plastic surgery. I've had a little lipo. I've had a little Botox. And you know what? None of it works. None of it."

Kaley Cuoco

Kaley Cuoco

Star of The Big Bang Theory and many Capital One advertisements, actress Kaley Cuoco joined the ranks of Hollywood women admitted to their expensive physical alterations. During an interview with Women's Health in November 2016, she claimed that one of her plastic surgeries was the best decision of her life!

"As much as you want to love your inner self, I'm sorry, you also want to look good. I don't think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that's amazing." For Cuoco, fillers and a nose job were nothing compared to her boob job, praising it as "the best thing I ever did."

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen is one of those Hollywood socialites who keeps her fans updated on everything going on in her life, good or not. Her openness might be irritating to some and inspiring to others — either way, Teigen doesn't care. That being said, the former model took to Instagram in 2020 to announce her most recent cosmetic procedures, the most shocking of which included removing her envy-inducing implants. "I'm getting my [implants] out!" Teigen announced proudly on her account.

"They've been great to me for many years but I'm just over it. I'd like to be able to zip a dress in my size [and] lay on my belly with pure comfort." But that's not all. A year later in September 2021, she took to Instagram once again to document her buccal fat removal. "I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing... And since I quit drinking, I'm really seeing the results, and I like it. Yeah, I did it, what?"

Patricia Heaton

Patricia Heaton

Everybody Loves Raymond and The Middle actress Patricia Heaton believes that it's much better to be honest when you're able rather than trying to hide the alterations you paid for. She said as much to People regarding her 2003 tummy tuck and breast reduction, saying, "It's better to be honest if you can. there is a lot in Hollywood that is not as it seems."

She's got that right! Heaton then went on to explain why she got the work done in the first place. "I had four C-sections and my stomach looked like the map of the world. My breasts were hanging down to here from breastfeeding those babies, and my nipples were like platters. I wanted to fit into the gowns that I finally got to wear." Fair enough!

Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox

Everyone who's anyone knows Courteney Cox for her lovable portrayal of neat freak Monica Geller from the '90s sitcom Friends. After filming wrapped, however, fans started noticing her for more than her personality... and not in a good way. Her fillers were a glaring difference from her old appearance and all people could do was feel pity looking at her transformation for the worse. That is, until June 2017 when Cox told New Beauty that she was over the cosmetic procedures.

"I've had all my fillers dissolved. I'm as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. "I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do... I was trying to make [my face] not drop, but that made me look fake... Those aren't wrinkles — they're smile lines. I've had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend."

Gene Simmons

Gene Simmons

It's not only women who undergo plastic surgery, and they're not the only ones who should be open about it, either. Kiss legend Gene Simmons along with his wife Shannon Tweed documented their joint facelifts on a 2007 episode of their reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Years later, he doesn't recommend it.

"I don't recommend anything that I've done to anyone," Simmons admitted to the Sydney Morning Herald. "Just because I order something off the menu, doesn't mean you should. Order whatever makes you happy. Everybody's journey should be a personal choice. Don't look over your shoulder while you're running the race of life. Do the best you can. To thine own self be true."

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie

Actress Angelina Jolie sports one of the most envied faces in the entertainment industry. Routinely named one of the most beautiful women in the world with fans drooling over her impossibly defined cheekbones, many speculate that she paid for her a facelift and other cosmetic adjustments. Unfortunately, the truth behind her plastic surgery is much drearier than the rumors make it out to be.

In an interview with the New York Times, Jolie bravely spoke up about her preventative double mastectomy and accompanying breast reconstruction. "Nine weeks later, the final surgery is completed with the reconstruction of the breasts with an implant. There have been many advances in this procedure in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful."

Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda — former model and current star of Grace and Frankie — opened up about plastic surgery to fans back in 2010 via her personal blog. Not only has she received for plastic surgery, but she's never been ashamed to admit that she's gotten a lot of things done to keep up her appearance. Fonda began her story by writing, "Bob Evans complimented me on my new, short haircut, and I replied:

"'Thanks. I just had some "work" done on my chin and neck and had the bags taken away from under my eyes so I decided it would be good to get a new haircut so people will think it's my new hair,'" Fonda wrote. "He thought it was so funny he actually toasted me for doing what he said he'd never heard anyone do before: admit they'd had work done. I was planning on blogging about it anyway, so who cares? Now, I look more like how I feel. I'm glad I did it.

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland

Former Destiny's Child band member Kelly Rowland — who performed alongside Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, if you didn't know — got candid with Shape magazine regarding her thoughts on plastic surgery as well as the time it took for her to actually get the enhancements she desperately wanted. For her, it took a lot of time and courage to get breast implants.

"I wanted to get breast implants when I was 18, but my mom and Beyoncé's mom told me to really think about it first." Rowland obviously took their advice, waiting 10 years to go ahead with the surgery. She should really start teaching lessons on patience and willpower to young hopefuls!

Heidi Montag

Heidi Montag

Television star, singer, and actress Heidi Montag is best known for her appearances on The Hills and Laguna Beach as well as for her suspiciously perfect physical appearance. Back in 2010, Montag told People magazine about her regrettable decision to undergo 10 different cosmetic surgeries and procedures in one day! From a nose job and a brow life to lipo and a chin reduction, Montage really got the works, saying she "never felt more beautiful." However, she changed her tune in 2019, telling Cosmopolitan the following:

"I was way too young to make such a life-changing decision and was under so much pressure because it was the beginning of comment sections and negativity and hate on the internet. I was just really self-involved at the time... but I was also on TV where very perceived flaw is amplified. I think I look in the mirror a little to much. I wish I had waited and not made a decision so young because I have long-term health complications."

Lisa Kudrow

Lisa Kudrow

Lisa Kudrow — who played Phoebe Buffay in the '90s sitcom Friends — shared her overwhelmingly positive thoughts and feelings regarding the "life-altering" rhinoplasty she received at just age 16. During an interview with The Saturday Evening Post back in 2013, Kudrow had this to say about her plastic surgery:

"I went from, in my mind, hideous, to not hideous. I did it the summer before going to a new high school. So there were plenty of people who wouldn't know how hideous I looked before. That was a good, good, good change." It's hard to say if Kudrow's negative self-perception was a reflection of reality or merely insecurity, but it doesn't matter, especially because it obviously majorly improved her self-confidence.

Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke

Mickey Rourke took a break from his acting career to pursue a career in boxing after enjoying the sport as a childhood hobby. Unfortunately, he sustained multiple severe facial injuries from competing and underwent corrective surgery to try and fix the damage. After years of reflection, Rourke had this to say to Daily Mail about the surgeries:

"Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together." Overall, he isn't satisfied, yet he never said he wouldn't recommend such surgeries to others, only that they should go to a better surgeon. Since this interview, he's had two more corrective procedures.

Courtney Love

Courtney Love

Courtney Love — alternative singer, songwriter, actress, and performer of many bands — launched into stardom as the lead vocalist of rock band Hole and for later marrying Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. Aside from the music industry, Love also works as an actress, such as for the series Sons of Anarchy, Empire, and the film Man on the Moon

As a member of the entertainment industry, Love knows all about the pressure that comes with looking perfect as a female performer, especially in acting. In 2014 during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night talk show, Love admitted to getting her "nose fixed," going on to say, "In six months, the whole world changed."

Yolanda Hadid

Yolanda Hadid

Former model, Real Housewives star, and mother of supermodels Bella and Gigi Hadid, Yolanda Hadid knows what it feels like to be pressured into cosmetic surgery. On Instagram, Hadid came clean about her past with surgery, including everything from implants to fillers and botox.

After being diagnosed with Lyme disease, Hadid realized it was time to let all of the fake parts of herself go. "Fifty-five and smiling from the inside out... finally back to the original 1964,"  Hadid wrote. "Living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, extensions and all the [bullcrap] I thought I needed in order to keep up with what society conditioned me to believe what a [hot] woman should look like until the toxicity of it all almost [ended] me."

Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks is one of the most well-known supermodels in the biz. Not only was she a successful runway and editorial model, but she created her own modeling empire as the host and primary judge on the reality competition series America's Next Top Model. Unfortunately, higher-ups place way too much pressure on young models to look perfect 100% of the time, which is why Banks ultimately got a nose job.

"I had bones in my nose that were growing and itching," Banks told People magazine in 2018. "I could breathe fine, but I added cosmetic surgery. I admit it! Fake hair, and I did my nose. I feel I have a responsibility to tell the truth. Fix it or flaunt it — I think women should be able to do both... We as women need to stop judging."

Kris Jenner

Kris Jenner

The Kardashian family definitely isn't known for openness or honesty regarding their physical enhancements, but "momager" and head of the clan Kris Jenner is a rare exception. This matriarch routinely documents her dive into plastic surgery and the like on Keeping Up with the Kardashians

For instance, in 2011, Jenner was more than open about the facelift she got leading up to daughter Kim Kardashian's second wedding, allowing cameras to record most of the process for their reality show. Plus, she also recorded the entire process of receiving an earlobe reduction surgery after becoming increasingly insecure about their growing size.

Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale

High School Musical and Suite Life of Zack and Cody star Ashley Tisdale is one of the few former Disney child actors who didn't have a "wild" phase after leaving the company. On top of keeping clean, Tisdale remains honest, too, including some work she needed to get done on her nose back in 2007.

"I didn't [get a rhinoplasty] because I believe in plastic surgery,"  the actress clarified to People the year of her nose job. "I did this to help my health. I literally almost could not breathe out of the right side of my nose. I want my fans to know the truth. I'm not someone who is going to act like I had nothing done. I just want to be honest because my fans are everything to me."

Amy Schumer

Amy Schumer

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer is almost too honest about her life and insecurities, as many comedians are nowadays. What would stand-up comedy be without self-deprecating jokes? Many people criticize her for not fitting within their ideas of feminity, humor, or beauty, but they can't ever say she isn't honest to herself or her fans. So when Schumer opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about finally getting liposuction after getting tired of "looking at herself in the mirror," she was blunt about why she got it.

Despite never thinking she would get plastic surgery, she "changed her mind" after removing both her uterus and appendix for health reasons. "It's not about needing to be slamming, because I've never been famous for being hot, but Id' reached a place where I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror... Everybody on camera is doing this s***, I just wanted to be real about it."

Dianna Agron

Dianna Agron

It was easy for former Glee star Dianna Agron to open up about her plastic surgery because it was a necessary medical procedure rather than a purely cosmetic endeavor. After breaking her nose for the second time, Agron got a nose job to correct it back to its natural shape (supposedly).

During an interview with David Letterman in 2011, Agron spoke openly about her two separate rhinoplasties. "I didn't go to the doctor the first time [I broke my nose] because I didn't want to tell my mum what had happened and she would never let me out of the house. And the second time, I couldn't get it fixed because we were in the middle of doing this concert tour and we were filming... but it's fixed now!"

Cher

Cher

Like Dolly Parton, music icon Cher has never been shy about discussing anything in her life, really, including plastic surgery. Even though she never explicitly explained the procedures she will or won't do, she has plenty of opinions on the philosophy behind physical enhancements, fillers, lipo, implants, reductions, lifts, etc.

"If I'd had as much plastic surgery as they [say], you know, like I've got a** implants and calf implants and cheek implants..., " Cher quipped to ABC in 2002, cutting her thought short to clarify, "I've had the same cheeks my entire life. No butt lifts. No ribs removed. If I want to put my tits on my backs, it's nobody's business but my own.

Anna Farris

Anna Farris

Some actresses, like Mom star Anna Farris, prefer to come clean about their plastic surgery on their own terms rather than feeling pressured to admit to it during live interviews. The comedian decided to open up about both her experience with lip injections and a boob job in her memoir Unqualified:

"I started getting lip injections in my upper lip. I did it for a little bit and I noticed a small difference, but no one else ever said anything. I kept wondering if anybody else even noticed." Because there was no noticeable difference, Farris gave up lip injections as there was no point. Later on, she got her breasts done after playing a Playboy bunny for her role in The House Bunny

NeNe Leakes

NeNe Leakes

Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes told People magazine in 2010 all about her many cosmetic surgeries. From a nose job and liposuction to multiple breast augmentations, Leakes isn't ashamed of her changes; rather, she wanted to remain herself just improved a bit more.

Take it from her: "I still wanted to look like NeNe, the black woman that I am, but a better version." While it can definitely be argued that plastic surgery doesn't make you a better version of yourself, just a fake one, it ultimately doesn't really matter what people think of you as long as you're happy with your choices. In NeNe's case, she'll always know herself best!

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea

So many people hate on Iggy Azalea for stupid reasons — or no reason at all — but you can't say she isn't honest about what makes her "fake." In 2015, the singer and rapper opened up to Vogue about her recent breast augmentation then to Seventeen the same year regarding her nose job.

"I'm not denying it. Denying it is lame. Plastic surgery is an emotional journey. It's no easy feat to live with your flaws and accept yourself — and it's no easy feat to change yourself. Either way you look at it, it's a tough journey. There are things that I didn't like about myself that I changed through surgery. There are other things I dislike but I've learned to accept." She went on to clarify, "It's important to remember you can't change everything. You can never be perfect."

Cardi B

Cardi B

Cardi B's personality is to be blunt and honest about herself, even the messy parts. This includes the questionable decisions she made involving plastic surgery, especially before she became a mega-famous rapper with plenty of money and materials at her disposal. During an interview with VladTV, she said opened up about the various illegal injections she got in her bottom:

"In order to get lipo, where they put the fat transfer in your a** and it gets bigger, you need to have fat. I did not have no type of fat. But I was desperate to have a bigger a**." Basically, she allowed doctors to inject her butt with who knows what kind of materials to achieve the perfect shape. On top of that, Cardi also flaunts her breast augmentation as opposed to keeping it a big secret.

Lil Kim

Lil Kim

For celebrities like Lil Kim, there's no point in being dishonest about surgery when you've gotten a blatantly obvious amount of work done because fans and critics alike will point out every little change, big or small. In 200, the rapper opened up to Newsweek about abusive relationships making her feel insecure about her appearance.

"Guys always cheated on me with women who were European-looking. You know, the long-hair type. Really beautiful women that left me thinking, 'How can I compete with that?' Being a regular black girl wasn't good enough." On the topic of her boob job, she said, "That surgery was the most pain I've ever been in in my life. But people made such a big deal about it. White women get them every day. It was to make me look the way I wanted to look. It's my body."

Reginae Carter

Reginae Carter

Daughter of Lil Wayne Reginae Carter made a name for herself on reality TV and continues to start honest conversations with publications on sensitive topics like plastic surgery. In November 2020, Carter told People that her decision to get breast implants wasn't instantaneous, explaining she wanted it done since her early teens.

"I feel like it makes my little shirts cuter and my outfits come together more, but I have always been comfortable in my own skin. Any enhancement that I wanted to make was my decision. Nobody pressured me. Nobody told me to do this. I feel like I didn't have society telling me this. I feel like it's self-love. I love myself. I loved myself before the boobs, and I love myself after. I don't care what people have to say."
