Celebrities Who Love to Camp

Pink

Pink

Pink is one of the most popular and glamorous pop stars in the world, but every now and then, she likes to hit the wilderness for some camping adventure. The singer and her husband, Carey Hart, along with their children, Willow and Jameson, are no strangers to the great outdoors.

In November 2020, the family of four took a camper out into the middle of nowhere and enjoyed a quiet, simple life in what Hart called a "last-minute camping trip" on his Instagram page. Based on his pictures, the family spent some time fishing, throwing rocks into the lake, and doing a little target practice while Hart taught the kids how to shoot a gun properly.

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey may not be the biggest surprise on the list, but he's definitely one of the biggest fans of going camping. Back in 2004, the Academy Award-winning actor bought himself a travel trailer, and he didn't just use it for the occasional camping trip — he lived in it for several years and even managed his production business from there. Today, the actor is said to own multiple travel trailers, and he and his family, which includes his wife, Camila Alves, and three children — Levi, Vida, and Livingston — go on the road for action-packed adventures around the United States.

If that's not convincing enough, consider McConaughey's 2012 wedding to Alves. The theme? That's right: camping. The couple tied the knot in front of about 100 people, including celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Woody Harrelson, on property they own in Austin. Guests were treated to a Brazilian feast as well as luxurious tents where they could sleep if they wanted, although rumor has it that the party lasted all night and few people got any rest. Either way, it's safe to say that McConaughey may be the most famous camping fan.

Jeff Daniels

Jeff Daniels

Actor Jeff Daniels is known for his roles in movies like "Arachnophobia," "Dumb and Dumber," and "The Squid and The Whale." In 2006, he also appeared in a film called "RV." Perhaps it was a sign of things to come. In 2011, the actor decided he wanted to take a road trip across America, but instead of staying at fancy hotels, he chose to buy an RV and camp out everywhere he went. According to Daniels, it led him to see parts of the country he never would have otherwise.

Not only did Daniels camp his way across the U.S., but he also documented the adventure and put it on YouTube. Daniels is no stranger to camping. He says he's spent years behind the wheel of an RV over the years and thinks everyone should do it at least once. He wrote the foreword to the book, "The Camper Book: A Celebration of a Moveable American Dream, "and he even wrote a song called "Recreational Vehicle," which can also be found on YouTube.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber

Camping in the wilderness may be the one place where Justin Bieber can get a moment of peace. After all, the pop star and heartthrob has thousands of adoring fans around the world. If you follow Bieber on social media, you know he's been on numerous camping trips over the years, sometimes with friends, sometimes with family.

In the past, it seems like Bieber liked to rough it a little bit. He's posted pictures of himself and a friend sleeping on the ground by a lake, but these days, Bieber has added a bit of glam to his camping style. In 2020, he was spotted with his wife, Hailey, in a luxury RV worth more than $1 million. The couple spent their downtime in the wilderness of Utah enjoying the vehicle and its three TVs, heated floors, infrared sauna, fireplace, barbecue grill, and other fancy amenities.

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton may be the queen of country glam, but when she's not performing her hit songs or entertaining the world, she likes to live a quiet simple life, much like the one she had growing up in Sevierville, Tennessee. Parton and her husband, Carl Dean, whom the singer has been married to since 1966, have owned several RVs over the years. Their first one was an old, converted school bus, but these days, they have something a little more stylish.

Parton says she likes to stay in an RV or bus when she's on the road because it's easier to keep up with all of her stuff instead of hauling it into and out of hotels. But she and Carl also like to take their RV camping when she's not working. Her favorite spots to camp are near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, or Orlando, Florida, but she also says she lets her husband choose most of their locations.

Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum is no stranger to camping. The hunky actor has been on several camping trips over the years, and he's talked about him in many interviews. However, not everyone in Tatum's inner circle can relate to his appreciation for the outdoors — at least not when he comes home bringing something unwelcome.

In 2014, the actor's ex-wife, Jenna Dewan, mentioned his love for camping in an interview, but she admitted she was less than pleased when he'd recently come home from a trip with an itchy rash. It turned out to be poison oak. The worst part is that he unknowingly spread the rash to Dewan and their young daughter, Everly, and, as you might imagine, the entire household was miserable. Dewan also said the incident occurred right before they were set to appear on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards, which led to her having to change her dress for something that showed a little less skin.

Zac Efron

Zac Efron

Actor Zac Efron loves the great outdoors so much that he goes camping across multiple continents. He even does ads for camping gear. According to the star, he and his brother, Dylan, grew up going camping with their dad. In 2019, Efron launched a new YouTube channel, and his first video featured him and Dylan camping out in the desert for four days. The caption read, "Outdoors and adventure with my best friend and brother, Dylan. Come along with us as we travel the world and get out of our comfort zones!" He also posted a video from a camping trip to Mammoth Lakes, California, with a group of friends.

In 2021, Efron opted out of a hotel while filming a movie in Australia and stayed in a camper instead. He posted a picture of his humbler digs on Instagram. The camper's interior was a bit on the fancy side but, based on pictures and videos from other camping trips he's taken, Efron isn't afraid of roughing it a little.

John Mayer

John Mayer

Singer John Mayer made headlines when he purchased a custom-made EarthRoamer XV-LTS off-road vehicle/camper that was worth more than $500,000. He posted a picture of himself standing next to his new toy on Instagram, along with the caption, "I am a proud owner of this most formidable go-anywhere, live-anywhere vehicle. One year and many meetings in the making, she’s all mine."

The company that makes the vehicles calls them "Xpedition Vehicles" rather than campers, though they look like large trucks with a camper attached to the back. The camper has a kitchen, bathroom, shower, king-size bed, and enough seating for up to eight people to sit comfortably. While Mayer may take his ride out into the wilderness, he won't exactly be roughing it when he goes camping. It comes with several luxurious amenities. The singer is known to enjoy the occasional outdoor adventure and often shares pictures from them on social media, claiming it helps him to "get away from the process" and come up with new songs to write.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria

Actress Eva Longoria is often considered one of the most beautiful and glamorous women in the world, but as it turns out, she's not afraid to let her hair down and get dirty. The superstar is a big fan of camping, and it all goes back to her childhood. Longoria grew up on a ranch with a father who found it important to teach his children about nature, living in harmony with the land, and conservation. In an interview, the actress said of her father, "He would take us camping for days at a time and teach us how to eat and survive off the land. He taught us how to find water, what berries to eat off trees, and how to plant our own vegetables."

Longoria attributes her attempts at living a green lifestyle these days to her father's influence, but he also instilled in her a love of camping. She's such a big fan that she currently goes regularly with her own family, which includes her husband, José Bastón, and their son, Santiago.

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany

Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany

Actors Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany are one of the hottest couples in Hollywood. The two met in 2001, got married in 2003, and they've been together ever since. They have three children: Kai, Stellan, and Agnes. Somehow, they manage to live a pretty low-key lifestyle and stay out of the news. How do they do it? No one knows all of their secrets, but according to Bettany, regular family camping trips help them avoid the paparazzi.

In a 2009 interview, Bettany admitted that he and his family loved to go camping, and they don't hold back when it comes to the dirty parts of it. "It's entirely normal, the most unglamorous thing you can do. Everybody stinks, and you're cold and you're wet and yet you see things you'd never see from a car or a hotel room. You walk every day and you're away from everything. Some people in this business go, 'I can't go anywhere without the paparazzi', but if you really want to you can find a way to go and be private."

Solange Knowles

Solange Knowles

When Solange Knowles and her ex-husband, Alan Ferguson, tied the knot in 2014, they lived a life that was a bit less glam than that of Beyonce, her big sister. The singer-songwriter and her hubby at the time decided to ring in 2015 by camping out in California's Joshua Tree National Park.

The couple and a group of about 15 fans pitched some tents and celebrated new beginnings with bottles of Jack Daniels and warm comfy clothing under the desert sky.

Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell

When actor Colin Farrell films a movie in the U.S., he doesn't like to rent a house or stay in a nice hotel. Instead, he spends his days living in a travel trailer, camping out in scenic locations near his movie sets.

It seems as though Farrell prefers the great outdoors to stuffy inside spaces, admitting in an interview that, "The nights are always clear and the stars are beautiful and you can sit outside drinking beer and listening to music." That sounds like a good way to spend some downtime.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis

When actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis tied the knot, fans probably thought they'd go somewhere glamorous for their honeymoon — maybe a secluded island in the Caribbean or a beautiful European city, like Paris or London. But that's not what the couple did. To celebrate their nuptials, they rented an RV and took a California road trip that had them buying and cooking their own food and camping at RV parks rather than fancy hotels.

While the couple enjoyed their trip, which ultimately ended in Yosemite National Park, there were several mishaps along the way, and Kunis told Jimmy Fallon all about them when she appeared on "The Tonight Show." From their air conditioning breaking to their navigation system taking them off the road where they got stuck and had to get off and walk three miles to their destination. To top it all off, one of their camping destinations was right next to two prisons. It's safe to say the couple will have camping stories to tell for years to come.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani

When country music superstar Blake Shelton and pop star Gwen Stefani started dating and eventually got married, the world was shocked. On the surface, they couldn't be more different. But as it turns out, Stefani fits right in with Shelton's laid-back country lifestyle. In 2019, the couple left Hollywood and their music careers behind and took to the woods for a camping trip. During the trip, Stefani posted a series of pictures on Instagram that implied she wasn't sure what she was getting herself into as the couple headed to a campsite in the woods.

But based on the last pictures in the series, it's safe to say that Stefani ended up enjoying her time in the wilderness. Not only did she post a few pictures of herself standing in the woods amongst the tall trees, but she posted one of her and Shelton kissing, with the caption "Thank you for the best little getaway Blake Shelton." Obviously, Shelton was already a big fan of camping, but now it's safe to say that Stefani likes to go too. Of course, she probably gets plenty of practice with nature on the couple's 1,300-acre ranch in rural Oklahoma.

Matt LeBlanc

Matt LeBlanc

Actor Matt LeBlanc is best known for his role as Joey Tribbiani on the 1990s sitcom "Friends" and for being a car aficionado who hosted the TV show "Top Gear." As it turns out, he's also a big fan of camping. At least, he appears to be.

LeBlanc has never commented on his love for spending time in the great outdoors, but in 2012, he was spotted coming out of Big 5 Sporting Goods in Los Angeles carrying a bunch of new camping gear. He loaded the back of his car with a new tent, a couple of sleeping bags, and a few other essential items. Perhaps he was taking his daughter, Marina, on her first camping trip.
