Dick Cheney served as the 46th Vice President of the United States under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009. A key figure in the Bush administration, Cheney was known for his strong influence on foreign and defense policies, particularly in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. He was a central architect of the Iraq War.

In early September 2024, Dick Cheney came out in favor of Kamala Harris, saying that  "in our nation's 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump." He also added, "As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris."

Liz Cheney

Liz Cheney

Liz Cheney is an American politician and attorney who served as the U.S. Representative for Wyoming's at-large congressional district from 2017 to 2023.  The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, she became a prominent Republican figure known for her staunch conservative views. However, her opposition to former President Donald Trump, particularly her criticism of his role in the January 6 Capitol insurrection, led to her removal from House GOP leadership in 2021. 

In an interview with ABC News, Liz Cheney defended voting for Harris as opposed to a third-party candidate, stressing that "Given how close this race is, in my view, again, it’s not enough. You have many Republicans out there who are saying, ‘Well, you know, we’re not going to vote for him, but we will write someone else in,’ and I think that this time around, that’s not enough, that it’s important to actually cast a vote for Vice President Harris.”

Adam Kinzinger

Adam Kinzinger

Adam Kinzinger is a former Republican U.S. Representative from Illinois. He gained prominence as one of the few GOP members to openly criticize Donald Trump and vote for his impeachment. Kinzinger served on the January 6th Committee and has been a vocal advocate for reforming the Republican Party.

Kinzinger made a statement endorsing presidential candidate Kamala Harris, saying “As a proud conservative, I never thought I’d be endorsing a Democrat for President. But, I know Vice President Harris will defend our democracy and ensure Donald Trump never returns to the White House.”

Rod Chandler

Rod Chandler

Rod Chandler was a Republican U.S. Representative from Washington state, serving from 1983 to 1993. He was known for his work on environmental and energy issues. After leaving Congress, Chandler became a lobbyist and consultant.

Chandler’s endorsement came in early August along with other former GOP members, who are displeased with the direction of the Republican party.

Tom Coleman

Tom Coleman

Tom Coleman served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Missouri from 1976 to 1993. He was known for his work on agriculture and rural development issues. After leaving Congress, Coleman became an attorney and political commentator.

Tom Coleman’s name came out among a long list of Republicans endorsing Harris as part of her “campaign within a campaign” called Republicans for Harris.

Dave Emery

Dave Emery

Dave Emery was a Republican U.S. Representative from Maine, serving from 1975 to 1983. He later ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. Emery was known for his work on energy and environmental issues.

Despite his long career as a Republican politician, even endorsing Mitt Romney in 2012, he is joining other Republicans against Trump in favor of Kamala Harris.

Wayne Gilchrest

Wayne Gilchrest

Wayne Gilchrest was a moderate Republican U.S. Representative from Maryland, serving from 1991 to 2009. He was known for his environmental advocacy and often broke with his party on key issues.

It should be noted that his endorsement of Kamala Harris is not his first in terms of supporting a Democrat, as he also supported Barack Obama in 2008.

Jim Greenwood

Jim Greenwood

Jim Greenwood served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania from 1993 to 2005. He was known for his moderate stance on social issues and his work on healthcare and biotech policy.

Greenwood expressed that “This is a campaign in which policy is important, but it's secondary to character, and the contrast between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris could not be more stark,” while saying of Harris, “She is a thoughtful woman, she is a public servant, she is honest, she has integrity and I believe the ability to reach across the aisle and get things done that are in the best interest of the country.”

John LeBoutillier

John LeBoutillier served one term as a Republican U.S. Representative from New York from 1981 to 1983. He has since become a political commentator and author, often critical of both major parties

LeBoutillier, who has been a Republican since he was 18 years old, knew Trump when he was still a Democrat and doesn’t like the direction of MAGA America, believing the party needs reform, according to an interview on NewsNation.

Susan Molinari

Susan Molinari

Susan Molinari was a Republican U.S. Representative from New York from 1990 to 1997. She was known for her moderate stance on social issues and later became a lobbyist and television journalist.

Susan Molinari, who did not support Trump in the last election either, has described Harris as smart and strong while also stating, “And she’s not crazy.”

Jack Quinn

Jack Quinn served as a Republican U.S. Representative from New York from 1993 to 2005. He was known for his bipartisan approach and work on environmental and labor issues.

In addition to endorsing Kamala Harris in 2024, he also endorsed Joe Biden back in 2020. While he has distanced himself from the trump republicans, he still describes himself as a conservative Republican.

Denver Riggleman

Denver Riggleman

Denver Riggleman served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Virginia from 2019 to 2021. He gained attention for officiating a same-sex wedding and for his criticism of conspiracy theories within the GOP.

In his endorsement of Trump, Riggleman stated, “I’m here today because I think there has to be two viable parties. I think we only have one right now, and I don’t think that’s the Republican side,” while clarifying, “I don’t know if they’re actually Republicans, but they’re more like Trump believers and almost a cult-like behavior that we’re seeing with people that no matter what he does, they still seem to support him.”

Claudine Schneider

Claudine Schneider was a Republican U.S. Representative from Rhode Island from 1981 to 1991. She was known for her work on environmental issues and women's rights.

Schneider is another known opponent of Trump, even challenging his eligibility to appear on the Colorado ballot.

Christopher Shays

Christopher Shays

Christopher Shays served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Connecticut from 1987 to 2009. He was known for his moderate stance and support for campaign finance reform.

“I am thrilled to support Kamala Harris,” Shays said in his endorsement. “She’s a very good candidate, and has the possibility and potential of being an excellent president. Obviously time will tell on that.”

Peter Smith

Peter Smith served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Vermont from 1989 to 1991. He later became president of California State University, Monterey Bay.

Peter Smith has been with the Republican party since the Reagan administration and has a doctorate degree from Harvard University.

Alan Steelman was a Republican U.S. Representative from Texas, serving from 1973 to 1977. He was known for his work on energy and environmental issues.

Following the storming of the capital in 2021, Steelman signed a letter calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump.

David Trott

David Trott served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Michigan from 2015 to 2019. He was known for his business background and work on financial services issues.

Trott also supported Biden back in 2020, and has been known to criticize trump. Trott once called out Trump for falsely claiming Michigan named him Man of the Year, saying "I can’t explain why he would claim to be Michigan’s man of the year." Because it didn’t happen.

Joe Walsh

Joe Walsh served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Illinois from 2011 to 2013. He later became a conservative radio host and briefly ran for president in 2020 as a Trump critic.

Walsh, who formerly ran against Trump in the 2020 primary, said, “I am proud to be part of the Republicans for Harris program to ensure those in the party of Lincoln who are disgusted by the extremism, by the hatred, and by the lies put forth by Donald Trump, know that they have a place in this campaign, and can join me in voting for Vice President Harris this November.”

Stephanie Grisham

Stephanie Grisham served as White House Press Secretary and Communications Director under President Trump. She later became a critic of Trump and wrote a tell-all book about her time in the administration.

In her endorsement of Kamala Harris, she said, “I might not agree with Vice President Kamala Harris on everything, but I know that she will fight for our freedom, protect our democracy, and represent America with honor and dignity on the world stage.”

Olivia Troye

Olivia Troye was a homeland security and counterterrorism advisor to Vice President Mike Pence. She left the administration in 2020 and became a vocal critic of Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Troye has said of Harris, “I walked away thinking ‘I’ll do anything I can to help this woman win’, which took me by surprise a bit…She’s engaging, super smart, and I honestly think Trump is a bit intimidated by her.”

Jim Edgar

Jim Edgar served as the Republican Governor of Illinois from 1991 to 1999. He was known for his fiscal conservatism and efforts to balance the state budget.

And although Edgar’s personal choice for vice president would have been Illinois governor JB Pritzker, he still stands with Harris over Trump.

Bill Weld

Bill Weld served as the Republican Governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997. He later ran for president as a Libertarian in 2016 and as a Republican in 2020.

In a statement, Weld said, "I look forward to working with the Republicans for Harris program to bring that message to the hundreds of thousands of moderate Republicans in battleground states who know Donald Trump doesn't represent their beliefs in freedom, democracy, and the Constitution."

John Giles

John Giles served as the Republican Mayor of Mesa, Arizona from 2014 to 2024. He gained attention for his moderate approach and criticism of extreme positions within the GOP.

Giles stressed in his statement, “Donald Trump and JD Vance represent the greatest threat to American values and institutions that I have seen in my lifetime — and that's why I am committed to defeating him in November.”

Chuck Hagel

Chuck Hagel served as a Republican U.S. Senator from Nebraska and later as Secretary of Defense under President Obama. He is known for his independent streak and foreign policy expertise.

Hagel stands with other Nebraskan politicians Sen. John McCollister, Clare Duda and Jeff Slobotski in their campaign efforts against Trump.

Ray LaHood

Ray LaHood served as a Republican U.S. Representative from Illinois and later as Secretary of Transportation under President Obama. He is known for his bipartisan approach to governance.

LaHood stands against Trump, saying, “Trump doesn’t represent what we need in the White House.” And yes, Ray LaHood is still affiliated with the republican party.

Chris Vance

Chris Vance served as the chairman of the Washington State Republican Party and as a state senator. He later left the GOP due to disagreements with the party's direction under Trump.

In his endorsement of Kamala Harris, he expressed that “she is better than Trump on national security, better than Trump on growing the economy, and unlike Trump, Vice President Harris will stand with the Constitution and the rule of law.”

Bob Orr served as an Associate Justice on the North Carolina Supreme Court from 1995 to 2004. He was initially appointed to the court by Governor Jim Hunt and later won election to a full term. Before his Supreme Court service, Orr was a judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals from 1988 to 1994.

Leading in the campaign against Trump, Orr said, “As we approach the final days of this election, there has never been a more important time for Republicans, former Republicans and unaffiliated voters who lean Republican, to come together and put country over party by working to elect Kamala Harris and stopping Donald Trump.”

Lancaster County GOP Chair Anne Womble

Anne Womble served as the chair of the Lancaster County Republican Committee in Pennsylvania. As a local GOP leader, she played a significant role in organizing and mobilizing Republican voters in a key swing state. She’s quite outspoken when it comes to her disdain of Trump and his views of women.

Womble said of Harris’s opponent, “This time, Donald Trump doesn't want those voters, and he said so he's further alienated them by doubling down on his extremism and picking a cruel and phony running mate in JD Vance. They want to cast a vote for a president that behaves like a normal human being and works across the aisle for the betterment of the country."
