Nerdy is in! For fans of nerd culture, cosplay is a pretty big deal and people take it very seriously. Dressing up as their favorite characters from television shows, films, games, books and more, cosplayers often attend conventions and converse with like-minded individuals.

Often cosplayers put a lot of thought and work into their cosplay, so much so that cosplay is often considered to be a completely separate entity from your traditional "costume." Sometimes the cosplay can look even better than the source material, but not always. Other times, despite one's efforts, a cosplay can really miss the mark with some hilariously terrible results.

It's not that the following costumes are the absolute worst of the worst, but when looking at them, you can instantly tell something's not right. The effort is certainly but the cosplay work leaves much to be desired. With that said, let's take a look at some hilarious cosplay fails.

The following cosplays aren't the worst of the worst but they are definitely teetering on the level of bizarre. Even if you think some of these cosplays are great, you at least have to admit that they are pretty hilarious. So, let's check them out!

This cosplayer, dressed as Patrick Star, seems to have had a limited budget and limited time on his hands. While creative, he seems to be wearing some traffic cone-shaped arms and legs to resemble a starfish. And on top of his head, another cone, or perhaps it's just a dunce cap. We're guessing he wasn't 100% sober when he put it on.

For those not familiar with SpongeBob SquarePants, the Nickelodeon animated children's series, Patrick Star is the best friend of the titular character. The dim-witted character ultimately causes more problems for SpongeBob than he solves and is pretty insensitive at times, therefore lacking in both emotional and mental intelligence.

It became the motivation for Google Images.
