Table Points: 23
Wins: 6
Losses: 9
Draws: 5

Angel City FC couldn't overcome 2 first-half goals from North Carolina. But on the bright side, Jónsdóttir netted her first NWSL goal late in the game before the final whistle.

11. Orlando Pride

11. Orlando Pride

Table Points: 29
Wins: 8
Losses: 7
Draws: 5

The Orlando Pride is struggling as of late. For a team that was once in the top 3 of the league this season, their poor run of form, as of late, has sunk them towards the middle of the league table. Not a place you want to be coming into the playoffs.

10. San Diego Wave FC

10. San Diego Wave FC

Table Points: 30
Wins: 8
Losses: 6
Draws: 6

The San Diego Wave put on another uninspiring performance. The 0-2 loss to Gotham FC leaves the Wave in fifth place in the NWSL standings. For a team that started the season so strongly, they've only won 1 game in their last 7 played. At one point in time, they were the 2nd best team in the league behind Kansas City Current.

9. Bay FC

9. Bay FC

Table Points: 18
Wins: 4
Losses: 10
Draws: 6

Bay FC pulled off a solid tie away from home against what should have been, at least on paper, a much better Orlando team. It gained them a crucial point for the league table, as they are barely holding on to playoff hope.

8. Houston Dash

8. Houston Dash

Table Points: 23
Wins: 6
Losses: 9
Draws: 5

The Houston Dash had been on an unbeaten streak that had stretched to six matches. However, the Utah Royals put an end to that run of form with a surprising 2-0 victory over Houston in Utah. The Dash had been making a late run for a playoff spot, but now they are stuck two spots outside the top 8 (the playoff cutoff).

7. Utah Royals

7. Utah Royals

Table Points: 12
Wins: 3
Losses: 11
Draws: 6

The Utah Royals haven't had the best of seasons. In fact, they are currently in last place in the league. But this weekend's 2-0 victory over a Houston Dash side that was in the midst of an impressive run of form, gave them some much-needed 3 points for the league table (and a morale boost, to boot).

6. Chicago Stars FC

6. Chicago Stars FC

Table Points: 15
Wins: 2
Losses: 9
Draws: 9

The Chicago Stars continue their good form with a solid tie against a much better Portland Thorns team. The Stars haven't lost an NWSL game since June 21, but their slow creep up the league table may be too little too late this year.

5. Portland Thorns FC

5. Portland Thorns FC

Table Points: 29
Wins: 8
Losses: 6
Draws: 6

The Portland Thorns failed to gain some points from a much weaker Chicago Stars side. They had to settle for an away-from-home draw. The tie keeps Portland in fourth place with 30 points, keeping them firmly in the race for a top playoff seed.

4. Gotham FC

4. Gotham FC

Table Points: 30
Wins: 8
Losses: 6
Draws: 6

Gotham FC secured a solid win over a (what was during the first half of the year) a well-organized and effective San Diego team. With the win, they are now tied with the Thorns for 3rd place on the league table and are in solid position to make a run in the playoffs.

3. North Carolina Courage

3. North Carolina Courage

Table Points: 25
Wins: 6
Losses: 7
Draws: 7

North Carolina Courage scored 2 goals in the first half and held off an attacking Angel City squad in the second half. The win has them just outside the playoff bubble by a single point. There are just a few weeks left to make the cut.

2. Washington Spirit

2. Washington Spirit

Table Points: 36
Wins: 10
Losses: 4
Draws: 6

A top 2-clash with Kansas City this past weekend ended in a stalemate. While it's still mathematically possible, in theory, for the Spirit to win the NWSL Shield (best regular season record), it seems more likely that Kansas City will secure the honor. All eyes are on the later stages of the playoff bracket, where it's anticipated we will see these 2 teams meet again.

1. Kansas City Current

1. Kansas City Current

Table Points: 50
Wins: 16
Losses: 2
Draws: 2

This weekend was a major game in the NWSL. The Kansas City Current met the Washington Spirit, and while it was a hard-fought match, the conclusion ended up being a tie. It's not surprising that these 2 teams remain the top 2 teams in the league, even if the final result was a little anticlimactic. If the Current win next weekend, they will win the NWSL Shield (team with the best regular season record).
