Ever since wrestling came out as obviously fake, we’ve had a chance to look back on wrestlers in the past and compare them to the present. Wrestling used to be about skill, and who could take out the other guy. Even if it was a little staged at some points, it wasn’t as obvious as it is today. Unfortunately, that’s changed the biz quite a bit.

Now, it’s about more than technical skills. Now, wrestlers need to have great mic skills, unending charisma, and a variety of wrestling moves to keep fans entertained through pay-per-view matches and TV broadcasts. It’s a lot to put on one person. They’re essentially actors and athletes all tied up into one.

Unfortunately, wrestling organizations (looking at you, WWE) have a habit of making scripts go a little too awry. Birthing a hand? Uh…okay? That pulls us out of it all and makes us realize how overrated some entertainers are. It isn’t about who has the best skills in the game—it’s about who has the best connections. These wrestlers prove that it’s about who you know rather than what you know.

Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan is easily one of the most overhyped stars in the biz. At first, he started as a good performer, but then all of his matches looked like a formula put together. Then, he was plastered all over any product that could fit his face. It was just too much.

Too bad that it was notoriously difficult to maintain on your own at home.

It comes complete with 9 acres of Beverly Hills land, a main house, a guest house, a tennis court, a golf course, and terraces.
  • Björk created a media sensation when she wore her iconic white swan dress to the 2001 Oscars. At the time, many derided it as hideous and a publicity stunt, but it has since gone down as one of the most memorable dresses of all time—even if it isn't exactly beloved. She says David Bowie was the inspiration behind the dress.
