The Best Celebrity Engagement Rings of All Time

Let's talk about engagement rings. Wedding rings are clearly important, but engagement rings are the glitz and glam that you'll be wearing for the rest of your life. For that treason, you want it to be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. That's not always easy for every man to achieve. It's a lot of pressure — almost as much pressure as it takes to create a diamond!

When you're a celebrity, thankfully, that pressure is a lot less. Mainly because famous people have nearly unlimited funds and the best contacts to create something your partner will absolutely adore. These celebs knew what they were doing when they went shopping for the perfect engagement ring.

After these beautiful bands showed up on the circuit, Hollywood was a tizzy. They're big, bright, and breathtaking. Most of them also cost a pretty penny, but they do say get a ring that's three times your salary. When your salary is millions, that's quite a bit of dough to pour into one ring!

Take a look at these unique and inspiring rings. Who knows...maybe it'll inspire a little design for yourself in the future. They've certainly caught the eye of many designers already.

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor

This list wouldn't be complete without the legendary Elizabeth Taylor. Over the years, she's had countless engagement rings, but this one is the biggest shocker of them all. Not only that, but it's also the largest engagement ring that was ever given to her.

Although she was married a total of eight times, it was her 33.19-carat diamond engagement ring from Richard Burton that everyone will remember forever. Could you imagine wearing something like that on your hand? Wonder if it was hard for her to lift when she was extra tired.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie

Brad and Angelina were once known as Hollywood's "power couple" so it's fitting that she would have an equally powerful 16-carat diamond ring. The two became officially engaged in April 2012 and married two years later in August 2014.

This ring is on the list because it used art deco as inspiration. It's a style choice we haven't seen in a long time, but it's perfect for this couple. Jolie did always like the off-the-wall stuff. The marriage didn't work out, and they ended up getting a divorce, unfortunately.

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle

These two are determined to be as different as possible from the rest of the royal family, and that's probably a good thing. Prince Harry got a little bit creative with his engagement. Instead of choosing a family heirloom to pass along to his love, he decided to instead create one using diamonds that his mother left to him.

That's probably exactly what Princess Diana would have wanted, and we're sure Meghan Markle is honored to have the ring. Meghan’s engagement ring consists of a 3-carat cushion-cut stone with one smaller round-cut diamond on each side, each about .4 carats. Who says you need 30 carats to be happy?

We're gonna go back in time to the early 2000s when Ben Affleck first got together. This was before Marc Anthony entered the picture, of course. The two were going steady and got engaged soon after. Even though she had already been married twice before at this point, she didn’t hesitate to say yes when he popped the question.

However, the two broke up less than a year later. Still, we're a sucker for this beautiful pink diamond. The 6.1-carat diamond was set in an 18K pink gold band. Pink diamonds are pretty rare, so this one probably cost a pretty penny.

Once upon a time, there were two Puerto Rican superstars who fell in love. Bennifer didn't work out, and Marc Anthony was there to swoop JLo off her feet — and he was good at doing it. The two actually met 23 years prior, so maybe that explains why they only dated for a few months before getting married.

Marc Anthony proposed to Jennifer Lopez with a rare blue 8.5-carat diamond ring. Her love might not cost a thing, but that ring certainly did. This ring is said to have cost upwards of $4 million. Although the marriage didn’t last, the two remain good friends to this day.

Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly

When she wed the Prince of Monaco, we shouldn’t have expected anything less than an engagement ring for the ages, and we weren’t disappointed. It was one of the most astonishing pieces of jewelry anyone had seen at the time — only the best for the soon-to-be Princess of Monaco.

The emerald-cut diamond ring was 10.48 carats by Cartier and was flanked by two baguette-cut side stones. Today, the emerald-cut diamond ring is worth over $38 million. The two were married for 26 years and had three children before the actress sadly passed away.

Beyonce

Beyonce

Joining the list of celebrities with big rocks and secret wedding ceremonies, Beyonce's 18-carat diamond ring made its first appearance a few months after she secretly wed longtime love Jay-Z in April 2008. Gotta admit that if anyone was going to make this list, it would be this extremely rich power couple.

The couple are still solid together, but that doesn't mean they haven't been without their bumps. In 2017, it became news that Jay-Z cheated on his wife, and that was something she incorporated into her music. They say hard times make great art...guess that's true.

Anna Kournikova

Anna Kournikova

The only thing that’s glaringly obvious about Enrique Iglesias’ love for his wife is the tennis court of a yellow diamond she’s sporting on her ring finger. Well, the ring obviously worked since they did recently announce the birth of their third child. The two originally met on the set of his music video "Escape," and it was sparks ever since.

The crazy thing about these two is that they still haven't tied the knot. Because of that, rumors have circulated that the two secretly got married and just didn't tell anyone. Then again, why bother doing that? They've been together for over two decades, so no one would be shocked.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams

While Serena and her Reddit-founder husband are extremely private about their life and relationship details, that ring is screaming happiness. Serena’s engagement ring is a 12-carat, large oval cut, with a stone on each side with an elegant platinum band. There’s no way we would have said no to that ring, either.

The two have a daughter named Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr. The pair have admitted that their marriage isn't effortless, but that's what real love is like — it takes work! Apparently, another important aspect of their marriage is comedy. Good thing these two keep each other laughing and happy.

Megan Fox

Megan Fox

Despite the "drinking blood" scandals reminiscent of Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton and cringe couple's posts on Instagram, fans weren't shocked when rapper Machine Gun Kelly proposed to actress Megan Fox in Puerto Rico. They honestly seem like a perfect match for each other, in a strange way.

Page Six gemologist Olivia Landau estimated the cost of the ring to fall within the range of $50,000 to $75,000! But fans were caught off guard by the "thorns" on the ring so it would cause pain to Fox if she ever took it off... Sure, beauty is pain, but that is just plain weird!

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus

Miley has sure surprised us over the years, but no more than when she announced that she was engaged to her long-time on-and-off-again boyfriend Liam Helmsworth. He popped the question with a 3.5-carat diamond ring with a pretty hefty price tag. The two did get married, but unfortunately, it didn't last.

After they called it off, everyone was wondering what was going to happen with the $100,000 stunning ring. Liam actually told Miley to keep the vintage-style ring as a "memento of their love affair." Kind of strange, but alright.

Emily Ratajowski

Emily Ratajowski

Since they got married rather quickly and in secret, Emily’s now-husband, producer Sebastian Bear-McClard, must not have had time to purchase the perfect engagement ring because she was only sporting a plain gold band for about a year. But oh, did he make up for it. She now sports a 5-carat diamond ring on her finger - 3 carats for the pear-shaped stone and 2 carats for the princess cut.

Don't get us wrong, the simple gold band was adorable for the couple since most celebs get the biggest and brightest diamond they can afford. What we love about this ring is that it's two different shapes that pair with the gold band beautifully. Talk about unique!

At this point, it's getting kind of hard not to be fooled by the rocks that she's got. But, third times a charm, right? Well, for J-Lo, this will be wedding #4, but we think it’s going to last this time with A-Rod!

That’s right, not to be outdone by his predecessors, Alex Rodriguez spent over $5 mil for her high-quality, 18-carat, emerald-cut rock. While we're still firmly in the pink diamond court, this one isn't bad either. The long rectangle stones on the side are one-of-a-kind.

When you’re on engagement round two, you better get it right! J-Lo announced her newest engagement to Ben Affleck in April of 2022. After being separated for nearly 20 years, the couple reunited after Jennifer dumped A-Rod. If you ask us, she’s onto bigger and better things.

Jennifer announced the engagement on social media through a video message to fans flashing a giant diamond ring saying, “You’re perfect.” The ring is a gorgeous green with a massive center stone offset with two smaller stones. If you ask us, it kind of looks like the first ring Ben got her.

Rosie Huntington-Whitley

Rosie Huntington-Whitley

These two certainly made headlines after they got together because she's so much younger than him, but we can't deny they work! Rosie Huntington-Whitley premiered the giant rock fiance Jason Statham gave her on the 2016 Golden Globe Awards red carpet. Safe to say, the sparkler stole the show!

This ring is extremely simple, but there's something stunning about that. After all, it'd be hard to take away from Rosie's beauty. We also love that the couple went with a round stone instead of a square, rectangle, or teardrop. This round diamond has a certain je nais c'est quoi.

Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber

Although these two were on and off the down low for a while, when it came time for the Biebs to pop the question to Hailey Baldwin, he went for a one-of-a-kind piece from Jack Solow of Solow & Co. jewelry. No one will confirm or deny the size of the ring, but it’s safe to say that it’s somewhere between 6 and 10 carats of beautiful!

It's obvious a lot of thought was put into this ring, and it's hard to find one quite like it. The oval diamond is beautiful, but what stands out is the three bands around it. The singular solid band in the center makes the stones around it pop.

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union went the simple route, and we love that for her. Union's ring is a cushion-cut solitaire held by four prongs on a white gold band. The proposal couldn't be cuter, either. Apparently, the proposal was an at-home show featuring Wade's three sons. They held up a sign that said "Will you marry us?"

The 8.5-carat ring came after four years of dating, and it was a little less than a year later that the two tied the knot. Even though this ring looks simple, that doesn't mean it isn't insanely expensive. It's valued at over $1 million. If the ring isn't a showstopper, the price tag surely is.

Catherine Zeta Jones

Catherine Zeta Jones

They’ve been married for two decades at this point, but Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Fred Leighton side-set marquise diamond ring still sparkles just the same (especially at 10 carats). Not to mention that the center stone is surrounded by smaller diamonds. It's no surprise that she said yes!

The pair began dating in 1999 and were engaged a little more than six months later. Almost a year later, they tied the knot and Zeta-Jones got a band to match her marquise-cut diamond. It is surrounded by 28 smaller diamonds and is valued at over $1 million.

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea

After nearly two years of dating, NBA player Nick Young popped the question to Iggy with this 10.43-carat ring during his 30th birthday celebration on June 2, 2015. The relationship didn't work out, however. Nick Young cheated on Iggy, and she promptly cut off the relationship — rightly so.

Afterward, she got into a relationship with Playboi Carti. The two got engaged quietly, and then before anyone could get a picture of it, it was stolen! Can you believe it? The couple reported $70,000 eternity rings stolen, a $39,000 gold link Cuban chain, a $10,000 rose gold Cartier bracelet, and a $57,000 Audemars Piguet gold diamond-encrusted watch.

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes

Although Tom-Kat didn’t last very long, the ring sure made a statement that said forever. Tom Cruise proposed to Katie Holmes atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris with an Edwardian-cut oval-shaped 5-carat diamond surrounded by 6 carats of smaller diamonds. Yup. We would have jumped up and down on Oprah’s couch, too!

The ring itself is estimated to be worth $250,000. No one really knows what happened to the ring after the divorce, but we're betting Tom Cruise took it with the way he acted following their split. Now, Holmes is onto a new man who hopefully respects her more.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively

Blake wed her Green Lantern co-star, Ryan Reynolds, in a secret ceremony on September 9, 2012, after less than a year of dating. When you know, you know (especially when Ryan Reynolds gives you a 12-carat pink diamond)!

Probably the best thing about Blake Lively's engagement ring is that Ryan Reynolds went to her friend and favorite jeweler, Lorraine Schwartz, to design it. He designed something she loved so much that it became her most treasured possession, and he did it without any input from her. That's love.

Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton

Princess Diana had a number of rings to pass down to her two sons, and that's where Kate Middleton's ring came from. The engagement ring itself has a long history, however. The beginning date all the way back to 1840. Prince Albert wanted a sapphire and diamond brooch made for his future wife, Queen Victoria.

Victoria loved the piece and kept it until she passed away in 1861. From there, the brooch was passed down until it landed on Queen Elizabeth's coat. The ring was then designed for Princess Diana because it had such a strong influence on Charles. Following her passing, it naturally went to her kids for their wives.

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff became engaged to former hockey player Mike Comrie in 2010 when she was just 22 years old. The marriage ended in 2014, but her 14-carat diamond ring will live on in celebrity engagement ring history forever.

Hilary Duff ended up getting together with Matthew Koma, and the pair got married in 2019. That ring was a little less impressive, although still very, very beautiful. We gotta give it to this amazingly cut diamond ring.

Ciara

Ciara

Ciara accepted rapper Future's proposal (and a 15-carat diamond ring) on her birthday back in October 2013. The engagement may have been short-lived (the couple ended their engagement less than a year later because of Future's reported infidelity), but the huge rock will always be one of the biggest in Hollywood.

The ring itself is worth approximately $500,000, but that isn't what makes it truly one of the best. It's the fact that it's one of a kind. The diamonds are set from largest to smallest with eight total stones.  It was truly something Hollywood was shocked to see, but it ended up disappearing after the couple split.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj

According to Nicki's then-boyfriend, Meek Mill, this wasn't technically an engagement ring. But it's still making our list because even if it's just a promise ring, it's still a whopping 15 carats! And beautiful. And more than most of us can ever dream of owning.

Someone as unique Nicki Minaj got something equally as the ring on her finger. It is unlike any other on this list because it's a heart! It's so glittery and pretty that it was the envy of all of Hollywood. The relationship ended up not working out, but this masterpiece went down in history.

Kim Kardashian West

Kim Kardashian West

Kanye pulled out all the (expensive) stops for his proposal back in October 2013. He asked Kim to marry him on her birthday, with the help of a rented out AT&T Park, a 50-piece orchestra, and...oh yeah...a 15-carat diamond ring.

Kanye spent about $3.3 million on the proposal alone, which is pretty much the equivalent of the rock itself. The ring itself may look simple at first, but taking a second look shows what's the best part of it — it's so modern! We love how the band looks like it's hugging the stone itself, and we hope to see this type of design pass down to retail stores.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton

Before there was a Chris Zylka, there was a Greek shipping heir and socialite named Paris Latsis who gave Hilton an immense square cut rock worth about $4.7 million. However, diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but boys come and go—and Hilton let this one go.

While we liked her previous ring, it was a little too sharp for her. Honestly, it didn't fit her personality, which is why this one landed on the list. It's classic with a little bit of modern flare, something Paris has had to stay on top of throughout her career.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey

They may not have actually tied the knot, but Mimi’s ex-fiancé James Packer showed us how obsessed he was about marrying her when he put that 35-carat rock on her hand. She continued to wear the ring for a year post-breakup—and we don’t blame her a bit!

Clearly, Carey thinks this ring was one of the best to ever hit the scene. It's almost so big that it seems unnatural for her hand, but honestly, we wouldn't expect any less from her. Mariah has made it clear that she wants only the best 24/7.

Jackie Kennedy Onassis

Jackie Kennedy Onassis

Five years after John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, Jackie Kennedy accepted a 40-carat diamond ring from Aristotle Onassis and became Jackie Kennedy Onassis. She reportedly only wore the 40-carat stunner twice before it was locked in a vault.

Something that beautiful should be worn, but we'd get why she wouldn't feel safe with it on her finger. There's been plenty of rings stolen off of women's fingers, and they weren't half of the glitz and glam of this stunner.

Lily Collins

Lily Collins

Emily in Paris actress Lily Collins announced her engagement to writer and director Charlie McDowell on September 25, 2020. Lily shared a photo of the two of them in the mountains of New Mexico showing off her gorgeous diamond engagement ring on her Instagram. The two had been dating for over a year before their engagement.

Lily captioned this lovely photo with this: “I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together…” Obviously the two of them are seriously in love. As for the ring, she’s got a gorgeous rose-cut diamond ring showcasing a “bezel setting and thin gold band.” The ring was designed by jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande

Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande had only been dating a few months before he popped the question. (And of course, a few months later they ended the engagement.) Any other ring and he may have walked away disappointed. Ariana’s bling is a stunning 3-carat pear-shaped rock surrounded by a halo of more diamonds.

This ring is absolutely stunning for her hand, especially since it seems like whoever made it took care to make one that looked perfect for her hand. Unfortunately, the engagement didn't work out, and she's now engaged to someone else. That doesn't change the fact that this ring is absolutely beautiful.
