Microchips
One of the craziest theories about the COVID vaccine is that it is actually a cover for implanting microchips in everyone. They say that Bill Gates is behind it and the chips will be used to track our every movement. Of course, this is ridiculous because we already have Google tracking our every move through the cellphone in our pocket. Why would anyone need a microchip?
Besides everyone knows that it's really 5G they are injecting us with. If you suddenly find yourself working a lot faster or getting better reception wherever you go. That's just 5G hard at work. And don't worry about your body suddenly glowing in the dark, because at least it's fast though.
Over My Dead Body
Some people are adamantly against getting the new COVID vaccine. They believe the COVID vaccine contains a live virus that can kill you or that it has simply not been tested enough to be deemed safe. And of course, there are those who believe the government is injecting us with microchips or 5G. Whatever the case may be, it's all preferable to actually dying of COVID.
There are those adamantly against vaccines but will literally put anything else in their body. Maybe you won't get vaccinated but you will smoke a pack of cigarettes or binge-drink every weekend. I guess you've got to have your priorities. But personally, we think dying of COVID is not the best way to go down.
My Body Is Ready
Then there's the rest of us who can't wait to get the vaccine. We are all anxious for things to get back to normal and to be able to see our family and friends again. We want to be able to go to amusement parks and eat at restaurants indoors. Maybe you are even ready to get back into the office and hang out with your co-workers.
For those of you who are, getting the vaccine as soon as possible is the best way to make that happen. So, yeah my body is ready; is yours? Just remember, if you want the most effective vaccine, go for the one that's two shots. You may want to get it over with just one, but patience is everything.
The New Normal
Once you get back into the world, and you are vaccinated, you are probably going to feel invulnerable but you aren't. It will still be a good idea to wash your hands frequently, not cough on people, and maybe even wear a mask if you are feeling under the weather.
It's important to note that you can still get sick, even if you've been vaccinated, but the chances are that you may not, and if you do, that you may not be as sick or sick for as long. Best of all? You won't die and that's got to count for something.
How It Works
Leonardo DiCaprio has been the subject of many memes in our culture through the iconic characters he has played onscreen. His natural talent for expression and unbound wisdom makes him the perfect candidate to explain the vaccine. To better help you understand just how the virus works are multiple Leonardo DiCaprio memes all-in-one.
The mRNA vaccines contain genetic material from the virus. When injected, the body creates a specific protein for that virus that is copied and destroys the material from the vaccine. Then, should the virus ever be reintroduced, the body will remember that protein and the immune system will destroy the virus. Good deal. Get vaccinated!
Wait, I'm Not Ready
As the vaccines roll out, everyone is encouraged to get their shot as soon as they can. Of course, there are those with higher priority than others but we are all in the boat together. Sure, we all want to be cured of a pandemic, but some of us have maybe gotten a little too comfortable with quarantine.
One of the best things about lockdown during Covid is that everyone, other than essential workers, got to move out of the office and start working from home. Working from home offers a ton of freedom you can't get anywhere else, like being able to wear your pajamas. Many jobs may stay at home after lockdown, but plenty of others will return to normal and it's going to be difficult to adjust to that.
90% Effective
No, the COVID shot is not 100% effective and no shot really is. You can still get sick, however, the severity and length at which you are sick can be drastically reduced. Nevertheless, your chances of catching COVID after getting the shot are reduced as well. And at the very least, the shot will make sure you don't die.
Although there may be some that draw the short end of the stick, you'll be a lot better off with the vaccine. It should be noted that the Pfizer shot is supposedly the more effective COVID shot that has two doses compared to Johnson & Johnson shot which has an effectiveness that is considerably less.
And for the Downside...
Sure, we have a vaccine. And sure it's the best and only way to get everything back to normal as soon as possible. But there's always something or someone that gets in the way. For everyone that can get the vaccine, they should, as it helps build herd immunity for those that can't get it for medical reasons.
Unfortunately, not everyone is willing to get the vaccine which is why many legislatures and pro-vaccine advocates are calling for mandated vaccination. The many misconceptions about vaccines and especially the COVID vaccine have led people to believe that it is more dangerous to get the shot than it would be to actually catch the virus. that's why its encouraged that everyone do proper and thorough research to learn the truth for themselves.
Limited Edition
The biggest issue right now with the COVID vaccine is making sure everyone can actually get one. Currently, there are not enough for everyone, so some people are getting priority over others based on need. The limited quantities of the shot has everyone scrambling to get theirs next. You have to make an appointment or swoop in to get someone's unclaimed shot.
The gag here is that COVID shot is so hyped up and valuable as if it were some limited edition collector's item. Nevertheless, if you are able to, getting the Pfizer shot is your best move as it is believed to be the most effective option. Get yours while you still can! But don't try to pawn it; you don't actually get to keep the syringe.
Is It Safe Though?
We've spent enough time in lockdown that most of us have gotten pretty used to being locked away. And the fear of COVID was real enough that many of us are feeling reluctant about coming out of our cages. Nevertheless, things will be returning to normal soon enough - at least somewhat.
We all should, however, err on the side of caution. Just because you may have built up an immunity to COVID because of the vaccine doesn't mean you shouldn't watch out for people coughing on you, stop washing your hands, or heck even wear a facemask if you aren't feeling well. Another outbreak could happen and it's important to be on alert.
Pfizer or Moderna?
This summer only one question is going to be on everyone's mind: Pfizer or Moderna? Since we've all been shut in for lockdown, there hasn't been much to talk about except for what's on TV and complaining about COVID or complaining about COVID restrictions or complaining about people complaining about COVID restrictions.
So once we get out into the world, it will be questions like this that everyone can look forward to. As it is, its hard to talk to someone who has had a COVID shot without them bragging about having had the COVID shot. And guilty as charged. So, if you really want to be cool this summer, you better know if you got the Pfizer or Moderna shot.
A Sad Time for Introverts
For introverts, the COVID vaccine is somewhat bad news. With lockdown restrictions getting pulled back, more people are going to be going outside for some fresh air. They are going to want to see their family and friends and that's bad for people who just want to stay at home.
The vaccine is most assuredly going to spell the end of your excuses for not going out. What you can do though, if you don't feel like going out, is just be honest and say that you aren't feeling up to it. Chances are your friends are going to be in the same boat as you from time to time in that regard.
Not Good for Zoom
Video communications technology companies like Zoom have really been profiting off of lockdown restrictions. For families who have been sticking to restriction rules, services like Zoom have been the only way for family and friends to keep in touch while they are stuck in their homes. Businesses and schools, of course, have also been using Zoom.
Although schools and businesses will continue to utilize Zoom, it won't be as many users as it was before. While before everyone was using it in school, students are now being allowed back to the classroom without even the hybrid model of part-time zoom and part-time classroom lectures. The creator of Zoom is no doubt sad about that.
Waiting Your Turn
Waiting to get the vaccine has been a huge challenge for all of us, and even for those who you would think need it the most, like teachers who spend their days with kids. For the longest time, teachers in Indiana were not eligible for the vaccine unless they were over 50 which meant there were a lot of teachers going without.
Finally, in March 2021, state health officials came out to say that they would be expanding eligibility to include all educators up to grade 12. However, the gap will be widened incrementally, which means first educators 40 and up would be given priority and then so on and so forth.
COVID-21?
Of course, it's possible, even after all we have gone through, that there is eventually another outbreak. it is certainly something to be cautious about, though you shouldn't necessarily stress about it. Provided legislatures and people do their part to prevent another outbreak, things don't have to be like 2020 all over again.
COVID-19 is just one particular strain of virus and immunity to it does not guarantee immunity to the next strain. However, scientists will certainly be working on variants of the vaccine to ensure that we are protected and the rest of the globe is taking steps to ensure it doesn't get this bad again. The best way to prepare for the future is to look at the mistakes of the past.
