Back to the Fest

Back to the Fest

Fans waited for two long years to return to Coachella after it got canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of California's severe restrictions on public gatherings. But Coachella 2022 went off without a hitch and was better than ever!

It's estimated that a whopping 750,000 people in total attended the festival across two weekends, with more than 150 musicians performing.

Doja Cat Performs

Doja Cat Performs

Coachella has become a massive who's who of big-name musical artists, and the 2022 festival was no exception.

Musician Doja Cat gave her performance during the second weekend of the festival, and it's clear from her and her dancers' outfits that fringe (and a little cleavage) is definitely in!

A Billie Eilish Backbend

A Billie Eilish Backbend

Billie Eilish took to the stage during the second weekend of Coachella 2022, and it looks like she took a little time to give a yoga lesson between her songs.

If her performance was half as good as her gymnastic abilities, it was probably an amazing concert. She better enjoy all that flexibility while she's still young!

Thee Best Performance at Coachella

Thee Best Performance at Coachella

At Coachella 2022, Megan Thee Stallion gave fans exactly what they have come to expect of her in a performance—high energy and plenty of bare skin!

During her set, the Houston rapper performed some of her major hits, like her racy duet with Cardi B, "WAP", but she also premiered a new song that has yet to be released on one of her albums.

Surf's Up

Surf's Up

Is it really a music festival if no one crowd surfs? Maybe, but it's definitely more fun if someone is riding the waves!

This guy got the party going with a classic crowd surf, but not everyone seems to be enthusiastic about keeping him afloat. We hope someone is there to cushion his fall!

Piano Man

Piano Man

Musician Orville Peck is clearly having a major moment rocking out on the piano in this photo while hundreds of people crowd around for a chance to see him.

We may never know the man behind the mask because Peck never makes public appearances without it. It may be gimmicky but it adds to his allure.

The Classic Ferris Wheel

The Classic Ferris Wheel

It wouldn't be Coachella without a giant Ferris wheel, and the 2022 festival was no exception. It's the perfect way to escape the crowds for a few minutes at a time.

The giant ride is officially known as Le Grande Wheel, and it's actually the largest movable Ferris wheel in the world—and the third largest of every type of Ferris wheel!

The Blues

The Blues

Karol G was more than a little blue at this year's Coachella festival. From her hair to her outfit to her background, it's clear what this singer's favorite color is!

We're not sure that a bunch of denim straps qualifies as an outfit, but the rules of fashion are officially suspended when you step foot in a music festival.

The View from Above

The View from Above

Skin is most definitely in at Coachella, and this festival-goer heard that message loud and clear! We've heard of being proud of your body, but this is getting ridiculous!

Coachella attendees in various stages of undress were free to climb a seven-story tower to arrive at this multicolored viewing deck for a glimpse of the entire festival...and the perfect selfie!

Sensory Overload

Sensory Overload

When it comes to the production values on performances, no expense was spared at Coachella 2022. The performance by the electronica band Exposure was full of bells, whistles, and screaming fans.

This photo makes one thing very clear about Coachella: if there's a band you want to see, save your space early. That's a crowd...and then some!

Bright Lights at Night

Bright Lights at Night

Is this Coachella or Burning Man? Things definitely get a little psychedelic here once the sun goes down!

We're not entirely sure what this colorful structure is for, but it kind of looks like someone designed a playground on acid. Only at Coachella would something like that fit right in.

Dancing the Night Away

Dancing the Night Away

Coachella isn't just a place to see big-name artists—there are plenty of colorful weirdos that come out of the woodwork to celebrate the two weekends of music and fun.

If you know where to look, you might even run into an LED butterfly like this lady. We can't tell if she's a very good dancer, but she definitely drew a crowd!

The Post-er Boy for Rap

The Post-er Boy for Rap

If you attended Coachella for both weekends, you could basically hear every popular genre of music at some point or another. Post Malone and 21 Savage were there to make sure your rap needs were met.

These guys look like they're having an absolute blast performing—and so would we if we were getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for an hour-long set.

Some Interesting Headgear

Some Interesting Headgear

We're not entirely sure what's going on here. Is this a musical performance, a knitting tutorial, or a bank robbery? It could honestly be any of them.

Performer Jean Dawson likes to dabble in the weird with his music, and it's clear that this attitude extends to his fashion choices as well.

Leather & Neon

Leather & Neon

For her Coachella performance, Kim Petras decided to serve us quite the look. She's supposed to be a dominatrix exposed to nuclear radiation, right?

Despite the questionable neon yellows, she's clearly got the goods to pull off a look like this!

Peas in a Shiny Pod

Peas in a Shiny Pod

This is why you don't let your friends pack your bag for Coachella! At least everyone's outfits are coordinated, I guess.

Does he have the body to pull of this look? Sure. But all that sparkly fabric doesn't pop as well when it's engulfed by chest hair.

Follow the Yellow-Brick Road

Follow the Yellow-Brick Road

We guess that Dorothy doesn't have Google Maps on her phone, because these four are very, very far from Oz!

The four members of the surf rock band Surf Curse almost pull off this Wizard of Oz ensemble, but Dorothy's receding hairline will haunt my nightmares forever.

Creepy but Amazing

Creepy but Amazing

Coachella may be two weekends' worth of fun in the sun, but this performance by French DJ Madeon just looks terrifying. Is this a concert or an alien takeover?

It might be terrifying, but the musicians at Coachella never disappoint in terms of over-the-top productions.

Flying High

Flying High

The Coachella stage just wasn't big enough for Billie Eilish. So, she decided to take to the skies during her 2022 performance.

It may be a bit over-the-top, but we're sure it was a great way to show some love to all the fans stuck in the back of that giant crowd.

Blue is Definitely Your Color

Blue is Definitely Your Color

We'll give you two guesses who these wig-wearing fans were there to see at Coachella. Karol G's signature blue 'do is starting to spread, and some of the results are...interesting.

If you're gonna go bright blue, you have to do it all the way. Those beards and mustaches should be blue too!

A Lace Look

A Lace Look

It's been a long time since her "Call Me Maybe" days, but Carly Rae Jepsen still knows how to draw a crowd. So much so, that she actually had two performances at Coachella this year!

Jepsen debuted a new single for the first time in years during her performance, but she also made sure to include plenty of the old favorites for the fans.

A Magical Moment

A Magical Moment

Coachella brought in about 750,000 people in 2022, but Phoebe Bridgers managed to make things feel remote and cozy during her set. It was the perfect nighttime show.

She may look like she's all alone in a fairy forest, but there are probably thousands of fans hiding just out of frame in this shot!

The Big Climb

The Big Climb

It's amazing that Coachella is able to consistently bring in big-name musicians every year, but what's most impressive about this festival is the massive and unique structures that pop up there annually.

This technicolor tower is Spectra and was originally assembled for Coachella 2018. It's expected to stay on the festival grounds for at least the next three years.

Here Comes the Marching Band

Here Comes the Marching Band

Coachella is the only place in the world where you can see Grammy award-winning artists one day and a German techno marching band the next. It's a strange place to say the least.

The band is known as Meute, and we guarantee they were one of the most original acts at the festival with their marching band arrangements of famous techno and electronica songs.

The Brazilian Bombshell

The Brazilian Bombshell

Anitta definitely wins the award for the Coachella artist who had to travel the furthest to the festival. Despite coming all the way from Brazil, her fans were out in full force.

On stage or off stage, Anitta always looks like a perfect ten, and every international superstar needs her entourage!

Pretty in Pink

Pretty in Pink

Harry Styles had some very "interesting" fashion choices at Coachella to say the least. A giant fuzzy pink coat (in California in the late spring no less!) is definitely some kind of decision.

Clearly, Harry managed to talk Lizzo into some very bold fashion choices too. They may not look fit for going out in public, but at least they look like they're having fun!

If You Build It...

If You Build It...

We're not entirely sure what this Dr. Seuss-looking structure has to do with music, but you never know what you're gonna see at a music festival!

Judging from this photo, there was plenty of weird architecture to admire at Coachella this year. Wouldn't have expected that, but it's cool to look at!

Standing Room Only

Standing Room Only

If you thought you were going to spend a relaxing, low-key weekend at Coachella, you're sorely mistaken! It doesn't matter who's on the stage, the crowds are gonna be crazy.

We're sure these people are happy to get a glimpse of their favorite musicians, but being packed in like sardines doesn't sound like a good time to us!

Nighttime Art

Nighttime Art

Okay, are we absolutely sure that Coachella is an actual music festival and not a landing pad for the mothership? There's about as much strange art here as there are high-profile musical artists!

This installation art piece, known as Cocoon, may be out of place, but it's definitely dazzling to look at. There's a little something for everyone at Coachella.

Water, Water Everywhere

Water, Water Everywhere

As gross as it might be, this is one of the most perfectly timed spit-take photos in history. Coachella is a place for sharing everything, and that apparently includes bodily fluids too.

This was taken during the set for the Viagra Boys, a Swedish band. With a crazy name like that, should we really be surprised that the frontman is shirtless and spewing water everywhere?
