This conspiracy states that NASA’s Cassini space probe (which has been orbiting Saturn and its moons since 2004) is actually a tool that will be used to transform Saturn into a second sun. Thanks to the new “sun,” Saturn’s moons would become habitable for humans. The Lucifer Project was first published by William Cooper in 1991, who claimed he saw documentation of the plans in the 1970s. Some still believe this theory today.

The Planet X theory states that there is a giant, unnamed planet in our solar system that is on an orbital path which will bring it close to Earth in the near future. Supporters of this theory say that this planet is the cause of earthquakes and weather changes on Earth. It is unknown who first came up with this theory, and it is not widely supported. Even amateur astronomers would be able to spot a giant planet in the sky!

If you have a high-powered telescope and take a close look at the north pole of Saturn, you may notice that there are some geometric shapes and patterns floating around. Many people even claim to spot an "all-seeing eye pyramid." Supporting theorists believe that these patterns are evidence of a mystical power that resides in the center of the eye. Natural News (an online magazine and blog site) published an article on this topic in 2010, and there are still people today who believe them.

This is one of the most famous space conspiracies. Believers claim that the footage of the 1969 moon landing is obviously fake, and if you take a close look at it, you can see a soundstage in the background. Bill Kaysing first published a book on this subject in 1976 titled We Never Went to the Moon: America's Thirty Billion Dollar Swindle. You would be surprised at how many people still think there’s some merit to this theory.

Another moon-based theory that is marginally more believable than the moon landing is that there is a secret base on the “dark side of the moon” that cannot be seen from Earth. Theorists have speculated that it’s owned by anyone from the Nazis to aliens. Not many people still believe this theory because we have photos of the other side of the moon from the Apollo missions. And guess what? There’s no secret base there.

This is a fairly recent conspiracy theory since the Philae lander reached Comet 67P about a year ago. No one is disputing that the landing was real, but there are conspiracy theorists who believe that Philae landed on an alien object, not a comet. This was first theorized by The Gutter Trash (an online magazine based in Australia) only a few days after the landing. Their reasoning is that the European Space Agency claimed to have heard strange noises coming from the comet, but it isn't widely supported.

This is definitely one of the wildest theories on the list. It states that President Obama was part of a team that was teleported to Mars in the 1980s and that the goal of that trip was to make contact with Martians. Two other members of this “team,” Andrew Basiago and William Stillings, started this theory by claiming they were also on Mars with our then-teenaged president. This is one of many theories about President Obama, and a small group of people believe them all.

These conspiracy theorists don’t deny that climate change is happening on Earth, but they take it a step further. They believe that climate change is happening across the solar system and that fault is with the solar system itself and not us. Above Top Secret (an online forum site) theorized this in 2006, but there isn’t a huge following.
Many scientists believe that there could be (or could have been) life on Mars, but none have taken it to the extreme quite like physicist John Brandenburg. He claims that there was a flourishing society on Mars, but it was wiped out by a nuclear explosion which is why the planet is now barren. He believes strongly in his theory, but not many others do.

In July 1947, farmer Mac Brazel discovered some odd debris in Roswell, New Mexico. Because he couldn’t tell what it was, the debris became a target for theories and news stories alike. The most popular theory is that the debris was from an alien spacecraft, and the U.S. government collected it and brought it to Area 51 to study. This is actually one of the most widely believed conspiracy theories to date due to the mystery surrounding Area 51.
