Video Games for Grown-Ups: The Top Nine Sites

Even adults enjoy playing video games, and several websites offer cheap or free games online. The games offered include major titles, such as Left 4 Dead, The Walking Dead, Call of Duty Black Ops, and others. Here are nine websites you can visit to find these video games and more.

  1. Softonic
Softonic is a well-known website for providing free games you want to play. Whether you’re looking for Left 4 Dead or Black Ops, you can find it on this website. While you can’t play the games on your browser, they are free to download. There are very few games this website doesn’t have.
  2. Steam
Steam! Oh, Steam! Most of us probably know this website, but it’s important to know when to buy from it. While the games aren’t free, you can get several titles for disgustingly cheap. For example, you can get Valve’s entire collection during Steam’s holiday sale for $24.99—25 games for around a dollar per game. Depending on when you buy, you can get 40%–90% off on games. Some of the best times to buy are during Black Friday, Christmas, during the summer, and pretty much whenever Steam feels like offering discounts. Steam also has daily lightning sales you can check out.
  3. PHP Nuke
PHP Nuke is a little-known website, but it’s similar to Softonic. This site features some of the bigger title games such as Black Ops and Left 4 Dead. It’s a safe website according to Norton, though you should be cautious about downloading anything online. PHP Nuke allows you to download games and popular software.
  4. Amazon
So if you’re looking to buy a game, you should check online first. Buying from major retail locations can cost you major bucks. For example, Left 4 Dead 2 is still around $20. Why pay that much when you can purchase it for around $7–$11 from Amazon, depending on the platform? There’s absolutely no reason to pay full price. If you’re looking for the first version, you’ll see even more savings. The older the game the better.
  5. Kongregate
Kongregate hosts games similar to popular titles or major titles you may have heard of. One such game is Hunters and Props. The website is updated daily with new games, including some favorites we may remember from our childhood such as Mario Bros. Kongregate has shooting games, racing games, and more.
  6. Super Games
Super Games is another place you can play huge titles such as Dumb Ways to Die. While its games are usually offshoots of the originals, they’ll entertain you for hours on end. If you’re looking for shooting games, this website has ‘em! You can kill zombies, other people, and more here. It also offers racing games and other action-type video games.
  7. Free Online Games
If you’re looking to play a new popular game on your browser, you might be out of luck, but if you’re willing to play one of the older versions, you’ve found the right place! Free Online Games allows you to play older versions of games, such as Call of Duty. You can easily play Call of Duty 2 right from your browser. The website has countless other games for you to browse.
  8. iTunes and Google Play
We all know iTunes and Google Play feature several games that are fun for kids, but it might not be the place you go for rated-M games. Think again! These mobile stores allow you to play fun games for free, such as Gangstar Vegas. Gangstar Vegas is a free online game similar to Grand Theft Auto. You can pick it up on both iTunes and Google Play using your mobile device.
  9. Truck Games
If you want to play games on your browser, consider Truck Games. This website allows you to play games involving cars. You can easily play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, arguably one of the best GTAs, right on Truck Games for free.
