Required Watching: 5 Movies You Need to Watch This Halloween

From new releases to the classics, there is never a shortage of spooky films to watch in the weeks leading up to Halloween.  Get together with some close friends and pop in an old favorite or head down to your local movie theater to check out some of these exciting, brand-new films.

  1. Dracula Untold
    Release date: Oct. 10, 2014
    Vlad Tepes has to make an impossible decision. He is facing threats to both his kingdom and his family, so he is forced to strike a bargain with malevolent supernatural forces to save them. Though he must consort with the dark ones, he has to try to not surrender to the blackness himself.

    Based on Gillian Flynn’s bestselling book, Nick Dunne files a report that his wife has gone missing on their fifth wedding anniversary. At first, everyone believes the couple has a perfect marriage, but soon the lies and Nick’s unnatural behavior leave everyone asking the same troubling question: Did Nick murder his wife?
  3. Annabelle
    Release date: Oct. 3, 2014
    Mia Form, an expectant mother, is given a beautiful, vintage doll, Annabelle, by her loving husband. Soon after, members of a satanic cult break into their home and not only viciously attack the couple, but leave behind a demonic entity in Annabelle who brings horrors so sinister to the couple that the cult member’s actions cannot even compare.
  4. Hocus Pocus
    Release date: July 16, 1993
    Three hundred years ago, three sisters were sentenced to death in Salem, Massachusetts for acts of unforgivable witchcraft. Yet, a spell was cast before their death, stating that when a virgin lights the black flame candle in their old house on Halloween night, they shall return and once again resume frightening children in the night and searching for immortality. Max unknowingly fulfills the spell, so now it is up to him to outwit the witches and save his town from their reign of terror.
  5. Night of the Living Dead
    Release date: Oct. 1, 1968
    In this classic film, the radiation from a satellite returning from Venus has by some means reactivated the brains of the deceased. Five people barricade themselves in an abandoned farmhouse, hoping to evade the zombies. They must overcome personal and physical challenges among themselves if they have any hope of surviving the night.
