DIY Sink Cleaners That Are Safe for Your Home

There are a ton of DIY recipes for home cleaners. I know you’re probably wondering if it’s worth it to gather the ingredients and make your own. Some cleaners might not be worth the trouble, but these sink cleaners can’t be beat. Your sink can be an icky place, but it’s a place that you want clean and free of harsh chemicals. The only way you can control the chemicals you clean your sink with is to make your own cleaner. Here are two quick and simple cleaners that will make your sink sparkle!

All Purpose Spray Cleaner Recipe

This can be use for a quick spray down in between uses to keep your sink clean and free of germs.

  • 1 gallon hot water (the hotter the better so that the baking soda dissolves)
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons liquid soap

Put mixture in a spray bottle and use it frequently to spray down the sink and other areas of the kitchen that need a quick cleaning. This is a substitute for harsh kitchen cleaners, like 409.

Abrasive Cleaner Recipe

Use this cleaner when your sink really needs a good scrubbing. The texture of this cleaner removes dirt from sinks to achieve a deep clean. However, this cleaner should not be used on stainless steel sinks.

  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons liquid soap

Scrub on and let sit 5-10 minutes, then rinse clean.
